Thanks for that bit of info. Given that Cubase can be a bit overwhelming to a DAW newbie, every bit of info helps since many of the things that new users (speaking for myself) of DAW programs need to know seem to be missing from the Cubase manual (all 707 pages) as the topic of your video clearly illustrates. I suspect that the creators of Cubase started with the notion that everybody knows about the VSTs in the program and there was no need to include instructions on how best to use them. I think they should update their manual to include a section with detailed info on how to use the VSTs that come with the program and save everyone a lot of wasted time and guesswork trying to figure these things out.
I need the tutorial that comes before this one...the one for "how do i fill the empty slot rack?" I thought Halion came with preloaded sounds/instruments/patches but damned if I can find them in the install.
Geo Synth Thanks for the reply and thanks for posting the tutorial. I checked the footage you recommended. When I click on, for example, the down arrow for 1 in the slot rack, a "Load Program to selected Slot" window comes up but there's nothing to choose from in that window. No instrument/sound choices. I emailed Steinberg support so hopefully they can help get my instruments populated.
Start with getting one track started I am missing something...Add instrument..pencil area I hear sound Cello ..can't get it to record What am I missing
You need to press on file in the top left corner, go to mixdown, name the file, and press OK, this will then record the MIDI and convert it into an audio file.
Hi man ! I got a question. I'm trying to change the effect on my midi track (I imported the midi track from Guitar pro) , it changes but whenever i stop the song and then press play again., it automatically changes to the Organ Church. How can I fix it? it seems like it's locked in this preset.
Are you talking about changing midi fx on your midi track (daw) or a program preset for the midi channel rack in Halion, having some trouble understanding, thanks.
@@johnarnis7340 I can't duplicate what you say Halion is doing, I thought about macros, automation, not sure how it's happening, but if you haven't already done so I'd try saving and reloading your project, if your still having issues save your midi data and delete the instrument track and start a new one.
@@geosynth7371 thanks for your time bro! I installed my cubase again and I fixed it :) it was like a demo version that's since I hadn't installed it properly :)
Thanks for making this video Dan! I have such a long way to go but your video is really appreciated.
Thank you for video man, i gotta question... How to assing those 8 pads to midi controller?
One thing I like about version 3 is the fact you can use the instruments filter to find all the sounds available
in a specific library.

Great video. Do you know if it is possible to add color to the pressed keys in the virtual keyboard so that it gets easy to see the played notes?
I'm not thinking you can, though that is a great idea!
@@geosynth7371 So sad man, thanks for the reply.
I just got Cubase 11 LE for Mac. Still a little confused on how to add instruments but this I think will help me a bit.
So I got Halion Sonic SE and Cuba’s LE AI Elements 11. Which is better for recording Audio book narration?
Cubase bus recorder
@@geosynth7371 awesome thanks!
Thanks Dan, very useful, good overview.
Can you use Fade in with halion? Also how do I make the black box you're editing in re-appear after its gone?
so ive gotten halion sonic se 3 for my mac..And i installed the libraries and stuff but when i opened halion nothing is showing
I need help
You mean the libraries or Halion itself? Seems like an install or file association issue, google is your friend for most technical issues.
@@geosynth7371 the libraries

Doesn't look like you can add your own samples with Halion Sonic SE.
Thank You!!!
