Wow, this is so interesting seeing this story about My Family . Sam petty was my uncle through marriage to My aunt Barbara Ann Petty/Travis. I was only around 8 or 9 when she was Murdered, but I do truly remember how hurt and devastated my Mom and the entire rest of our family was following that Tragic Event. There’s a lot of history behind and between the Petty Family and my Moms family, the Travis Family. Too much to talk about here, but it’s just really amazing to see and hear the story of my Aunt’s murder and see the faces and hear the names and voices of some of the officers and people involved with thathorrific tragedy that occurred back then . Thanks for sharing.
Believe it or not Sam was a really nice guy. He lived across from us. He lived on Penrose. His wife Debra was ...WOW. I remember going to their store on College. We got ALL free stuff. But, the killing on kingshighway scared us all.

Again, this is what We experienced in dealing with these 2 individuals. We always heard about it. Sam was the nicest guy. L was in the store giving out candy. NOT EVERYTIME was it free. Ms. D didn't talk much at all. That little bright skin lady wasn't as friendly. However, the 5th was in on some dirt, too.
Layshaw, Lakeshaw, The Huntsman (whirl name). I remember being in a house with Jerry and a youngster said "I work with Lakeshaw". Jerry asked the kid what "lakeshaw looks like, he said he's 6'05"about 250lbs. I guess in the youngsters mind, after hearing all the stories, that's what he expected "lakeshaw" to look like. 🤣

Oh SHIESTY Rapist...I believe he lived just to bash another black man in the head. We couldn't have anything of value. We would get pulled over more than I care to remember bc of our cars. We had great jobs. We were young, but does that give the 5th a reason to put a target on our backs? If pulling us over wasn't enough, they'd search the car and take our money 😤.
