Hey everyone! This video series I did was all coming to this! I had a lot of fun making these with all the stuff I made in previous episodes. I hope you enjoy this and give one of these a whirl. It is addictive to make! Make sure you have someone in mind to gift to and tailor it to suit their favorite cake flavor, design and most importantly design it to fit over the gift you'd like to give. What is your fave design? Would you make these? How would you decorate yours? ❤🎂🍰🧁
Plus you dont want it on your hands as it WILL ruin your plumbing if you wash in your sink. Only wash it in a bucket then throw outside but not in your olumbing. It dries in the pipes and plugs them.
Yes, thank you for the tips! I try to use gloves now when working with the spackle. I did make sure that it's lightweight. Also, when you add paint, sometimes that's a good substitution for water, but it depends on how much you add. This was my first time doing this, and it was very trial and error. I agree heavily with your plumbing tips. Thank you for posting!
Oh also, I didn't really get any big chunks of spackle on my hands, just a powdery film, but as you could tell from the video I knew I shouldn't have been playing with it with my bare hands. 😅 So yes, use gloves and if you must please throw it away if it dries out or if you need to use water to wash it off Linda provided some great tips above. ☝️😀 👍
Yes! I definitely thought about that! I think the key to making things look edible is to make things look a little bit sloppy. If real food looks too perfect no one wants to eat it, but if it's pleasing to the eye but still a bit messy and textured people don't mind digging in. It's probably why I'm so hungry just looking at them even though I know it's not real food. I originally just thought food art is so cute and I'm actually terrible at wrapping presents but love giving interesting and fun things and thought why not make fun, memorable gift boxes you can either display or regift to someone? It definitely takes longer to make these than just wrapping a present but it was very fun to make a bunch. Thanks for your thoughtful comments Mark! They definitely make my day! 😄
@@diyem Well done. I'll keep watching! In some way also makes me think of model kits. I make it to be like the finished tank(or whatever) out of the factory. Then break it down and weather/damage it. That's fun to be in control of the sloppiness and make it real looking. k

Only use light weight and add more water. If as thick or dry as yours. . But you did awesome.

Another good one Emily!
Awww thanks Mark! This was 3 hrs of footage originally! I'm glad you're enjoying them! I hope you enjoy my Halloween videos coming very soon too!
Good advice to make prop food for TV or film.
