  • Concerto no:1 Alexei Lebedev
In 2003 I recorded this bass trombone evergreen for my 3rd solo cd "First Song" together with the lovely amazing Alla Libo on piano.
For this recording I choose a different cadenza composed by Palmer Trausen.
I thought it might be a nice idea to publish this recording in this way.
I hope you will enjoy this oldie!!

The way you can hear the stylistic changes so clearly in his playing is incredible. This is an awesome recording. It's helping me very much as I practice for college auditions this fall.

For lack of anything better, this piece, (originally written for tuba) has become THE standard repertoire piece for bass trombone. I have many recordings of this piece, and of all of them, this one is the most free flowing and agile performances of all. It makes it seem like anybody can do it. (I performed this piece on my recital many years ago, and know that's not true). I wish this recording had been available before my recital. I would have taken a whole different approach to the piece.

This is called the Concerto No. 1 and sometimes the Concerto in One Movement by Lebedev
