Here cuz I’m a premier league fan. 4.99 a month is a great price tag. Thanks for your walk through, I was initially skeptical about the credibility of the site because of the price.
Dear Danny Ayala: I also like the EPL, and 5 USD is not a bad deal. You can be even more skeptical and have *no ads* for 10 USD per month. ---------------- I was disappointed, though, that I couldn't watch the women's Olympics soccer live. I thought I could watch this for free -- but no, still, if the USA and GB make it to the next round of the playoffs, I will pay. Peacock does provide up-to-date news and highlights on various events of the Olympics.
Jake the reason why the show friends isn't on peacock is because the show is owned and produced by warner bros television and warner bros is own by warnermedia which owns HBO max
Been loving HBO Max. Disney + hasn’t been my thing. I agree, “Peacock” is NOT a strong name. 🍿 No credit card required is a big leap of faith for them! I guess it’s such a crowded market they’ve got to swing for the fences or else.
Haha, sounds like we are on the same page, Ross! I was also shocked that I didn't need to give them a credit card even for free access. I think NBC is trying to figure out what they want from the platform. If they don't get enough paying customers, I think they could easily just make all content free but then add full length commercials. That means 7 minutes of commercials and a 30 min broadcast for a TV show. It would just become their broadcast TV, but streaming on demand. I honestly would be fine with that. Then allow for a pay option to avoid commercials.
@Jake Broe not sure about Mac, but on Windows the external display warning does not seem to apply to all browsers. Edge seems to work for most folks, but not Firefox, and mixed results on Chrome. Apparently NBC is restricting devices from outputting to external displays because they want to license the platform stakeholders separately (Microsoft Xbox has signed on, Roku has not, etc). Letting people do it themselves would eliminate their leverage.
I wish The Office and all the good binge shows was still on Netflix. It’s still the best streaming service. I hate that we have to subscribe to all these others ones just to watch a certain show.
I live in a brick apartment on the opposite side of the TV antennas, so I can't get my local stations, even with an antenna. (No outdoor access). I just started my 3 months free premium. I would continue to pay if like CBS all access, it would include my local NBC live streaming. Also, if it worked with my roku. They're missing the mark by not including the types of services as CBS for the same price.
I tried to watch a bunch of shows on 7/15, but I got this error message with the orange cat: “Something went wrong. Sorry, your video configuration is not compatible with Peacock. Try disconnecting an external monitor.” I had a VERY hard time getting anything to play on my desktop (internet without Wi-Fi). It finally worked when I used Microsoft Edge as a Web browser. Chrome and Foxfire did not work for me.
Nice review. Have been watching the free version on my iPad since the first day this service launched. Lucky for me, none of your connection problems happen while using my table. My wish would be that a major network would have a streaming service where all their prior (1950's, 1960's, 1970's 1980's 1990's, 2000's, 2010's and 2020's) TV show content could be viewed. There are many NBC TV shows that are no where to be found not on Netflix, on Hulu, on the NBC app, or on NBC's Peacock service (i.e. Defying Gravity). I would pay $20 per month if, all NBC shows and every season of each show were on the same streaming service.
I agree! I think it would be awesome to have every episode of Johnny Carson available on a streaming platform. I know my dad would love to watch programs that he grew up with in the 60s and 70s, but this isn't capable yet.
Understand that the rights to air newer popular TV shows, may have been sold to others for a limited period of time. But, there should be many lesser know TV shows that, just like FOX's "New Amsterdam" (2010) and "Lone Star" (2008 ) only airing two episodes which, ran for only one season or less. As many of these TV shows as possible should be on any NBC streaming free or paid service.
Was very disappointed to find out you can't stream all the old full SNL episodes... they cut out about half the show's content in many of the later seasons... no musical guest or weekend update, etc. The first 3 or 4 seasons have the full 65 minutes of content. Many after that are only 30 minutes they've cut so much out.
Friends while it did air on NBC it is not owned by NBC it was produced by Warner brothers television and the rights are owned by Warner brothers that is why it is on hbo max that is not saying that Warner brothers could license the rights to NBC so it could be on peacock sometime in the future but that is probably unlikely because they have advertised friends as a flagship show for HBO max
Friends is actually not owned by NBC. Its owned by Warnermedia and that's why its on HBO MAX. Doubt it's coming to Peacock anytime soon. The other thing lot of ppl don't know is that a lot NBC shows are not owned by NBC themselves like Friends or Seinfeld.
@@JakeBroe I knw it can be bit weird to hear that for ppl who aren't deeply immersed in showbiz news. I follow these stuff out of curiosity. The network shows aren't always made by the networks themselves. They often license it from outside studios like in the case of Friends. These things have lately become more relevant for audiences due to the "streaming wars" and the movement of content between streamers.
So it's free but as a cable service there's only 30 channels and as a streaming service like Netflix or Hulu it's all stuff your grandma would like. If there is anything good then you would have to pay money to unlock it. Pluto TV at least gives you decent cable even if it's all Nickelodeon and MTV
2:08 WB owns Friends and Fresh Prince. NBC was just the original network that they aired on. Moreover, some of their other properties have either just started (Community) or are about to start (Seinfeld) multi-year exclusive runs on Netflix so their is not much that they've got left to play with. Taking away the free tier after a year or so would be a colossal mistake. It would only create an extreme backlash in today's hyper-sensationalized media landscape. If they wanted everyone to pay up eventually, then they would have only had an extended free trial.
I am done with SlingTV after increasing the price and its they same shows. I only watch Travel channel/NetGeo/Msnbc/CNN and maybe a few more but I don't see CNN here just most NBC shows which I never care to watch regular TV. I will try it and see if its more than I expect.
Hey Jake NBC does not own all of their shows. So shows like Friends, Seinfeld and The fresh Prince of bel air might never be on Peacock. They had to strike a deal with Paramount to get most of their shows.

They must have watched your video lol. Cheer and Frasier you can see all of the episodes. I watched a movie and it wasn't bad. Commercials were on the first 2 minutes, but after that no commercials
Cool video Jake, don't think I'll be using peacock. Pretty evil that they only give you season 1 not to mention the external monitor is a deal breaker.
Yeah, no clue why they would block people who have external devices connected to their computers. That is a lot of tech savy people they are blocking from using their platform.

Peacock sucks! Do not get it. The fine print states it will sell your info! It takes a super long time mid way to show you an add like its searching for days to gather your info i feel like. Had a hell of a hard time to remove my self.
This channel was good, but it is not now. Everytime I try a movie in less than 5 minutes it shuts off and is gone! And why would I pay five bucks for it? Nah! And where is a c/s number to report or get help with ANY issue? I will not share how good it was but only how BAD it is now! Many more "working" channels to use for enjoyment.

Haha, maybe if they add more content, it will draw me back and the name will grow on me.
Imagine a water cooler conversation where you're trying to hype it to a coworker and you have to keep saying the name.
NBC is laughing about this exact scenario. We are all being punk'd.
Pea-COCK.
Peacock LIES about sports being live-streamed.

So it forces ads INTO movies?
Yep, just like if the movie was broadcast on television. 5 minutes per hour is the rate.
I might dabble with it for the next Battlestar Galactica series (produced for peacock), if it is well received.

Yeah, I'll watch it as well. The 2000s version was decent enough.
It's part of Xfinity internet service. No taxes and it's free. Not everything is free tho. They give you a device and remote to stream.

Can you download peacock on a Samsung tv?
Nah. It's not on there yet. Hopefully by the time they drop it on our Samsung TV's, the app isn't complete crap like it is now.

No, CBS is now on Paramount+
