Today's the first devlog of trying to recreate LETHAL COMPANY using ROBLOX STUDIO! I go through some things I've added to the game such as an item pickup system, basic map design, and character design.

if you want the shading to be as close as possible to the original, remove the atmosphere (under lighting), go to lighting properties, set both the FogStart and FogEnd to 10000, and set the FogColor to 250000, 250000, 250000 (you can change it by around 50,000 to get different effects).
Just saying, you can hold up to 4 scraps, but some scrap requires 2 hands to be held, which blocks the player from grabbing more scrap and forcing the player to only hold that heavier scrap
i mean you can just drop the 2 hand object and pick up one handed items and then get the 2 hand object after
I was actually waiting for someone to actually make a GOOD remake of lethal company in roblox.
Please don't give up on this series, I actually want Devlog #2!
(If you don't know what name it should be I think "Dangerous Company" is a good choice)

i just found about lethal company yesterday and its a very fun gamme and i want to play it with my friends but unfortunetly steam doesnt support my country's currency so the game is very expensive and it cant buy it but i just saw this video rn and i've been following you for a long time and you really make good quality stuff so keep doing it and we might play your game once its fully done as lethal company cause we cant buy the steam version

I love how I was doing this development two weeks ago but I had no luck with my scripting skills so I used your tutorials to try to and now you're already just doing it LOL

fun fact: you can actually grab 4 objects but if its too heavy like a large axle or a cashier thingy your hands get full so make it that you can grab 4 objects i guess

You can put a highlight in the "Workspace" making the world having a outline on the borders of models, entire game,etc. But if you want for every scrap to have it's own highlights, since the Roblox Studio engine limits up to 31, you could use a model of the scrap and make it look like those ugc heads with cartoony outlines (having 2 models but 1 of them is bigger than the main model and it has some tweaks in it's model so it looks like those cartoony outlines stuff)

More specifically: The second, bigger model has it's faces flipped to create the outline.

Here's a heads up. You shouldn't place a highlight inside every item, remember that the engine only allows up to 31 activate highlights at one time, even if highlight is disabled this rule still applies.
Realized this afterwards, def gonna have to not put highlights around items

@@monkeydeveloper make a model to put all the items on the ground in and then just a a highlight to the model
You could also make a folder, make a model inside the folder, with every item inside of them and a highlight as a child of the folder.
Check the distance from player to item and for every item in range - child those parts to the model and set the highlight "adornee" to always be the model. So you can put items in and out of the model when you want those items to have a highlight, effective and easy.
Edit: If you want every item to always have a highlight MajesticUC's suggestion works really good too.@@monkeydeveloper
@@monkeydeveloper For the terrain I suggest using the smooth, and sculpt tool, I wish I was able to help you with this game because it looks like it'll take off, and I always think that a good headstart is the environment around the player.

Did u know that the OuTlInE is called cell shading? It is used to give a cartoonish look but can also be used for lighting, the legend of Zelda Totk uses this

Somehow my laptop can’t run Roblox at 50% graphics but it can run lethal company PERFECTLY

When you pick up the scrap instead of adding it to the players backpack, add the tool to the character so that its automatically holding it, I think that might look like a cleaner replacing item thing.

there are 4 slots for small scraps but if u pick up the big one the slots will be full (hands full)
u should change picking up scrap to be 4 bc in the game it allows 4 but also make two handed objects u need to drop before upick more stuff up and uhh also make weight

If you're using highlights for the outlines, how would that work since roblox has a limit to how many outlines you can use?

MonkeyDev. You can actually hold up to 4 small scraps but some big scraps such as V-type engine require 2 hands. but you can still get 3 small scraps or toys (etc.) in your inventory

To get lightning familliar to lethal company go to the lightning and scroll down set fog color to 100000,100000,100000 and fog end and start to 100000 remeber there cant be atmosphere in lightning
Maybe, Try to add voice chat so players could interact with eachother a little better.
