Probability of G1 open = 10% = 0.1
Probability of G2 open = 20% = 0.2
Therefore,
Probability of G1 closed = 90% = 0.9
Probability of G2 closed = 80% = 0.8
Possibilities of water moving from A to B is
Only through G1 with G2 closed = 0.1 × 0.8 = 0.08
Only through G2 with G1 closed = 0.2 × 0.9 = 0.18
Both through G1 & G2 = 0.1 × 0.2 = 0.02
Hence total probability = 0.08 + 0.18 + 0.02 = 0.28 = 28%
