*"Hart was eventually offered the opportunity to replace Clayton Moore on The Lone Rangertelevision series. Based on the assumption that the masked character, rather than the actor, was the true star of The Lone Ranger, the program's producers fired Moore (presumably over salary differences) and replaced him with Hart, who was of a similar build and had a comparable background in Westerns. However, the public never truly accepted Hart as the Lone Ranger, and by 1954 the producers returned Moore to the role."*
It might have worked if they had picked someone with personality and presence. Hart had neither. It's like they purposely picked someone who wasn't right for the role.
This guy is like a cucumber. clay acts with his eyes, his head, his smile his voice, everything. He is like a silent star actor very animated. This guy, my Lord.
John Hart, played HAWKEYE. There will NEVER be ANOTHER HAWKEYE, Just like there will NEVER be ANOTHER LONE RANGER, played by Clayton Moore Both were great actors!!
Yes, certain actors are only One character. James Arness as Matt Dillon, Chuck Conners as Lucas McCain and Johnny Crawford as Mark McCain -who can fill their roles?
They should have also replaced Tonto with some Jewish guy. "Oy vey, kimosabe. Bad man go on rocks, trail end. Want I should go into town to get information on hide out?"
IF ANYONE HAS SEASON 3 EPISODE 37 I WOLD VERY MUCH LIKE TO HAVE IT AS CLAYTON WAS A FRIEND OF MINE AND IT IS THE ONLY SERIES EPISODE I DO NOT HAVE EVEN THOUGH I KNOW SEASON 3 AND 4 WERE SHOT WITH JOHN HART WHOM I MET IN ATLANTA IN THE 80'S.
Episode Season 4 - episode 34 also seems to be missing. - - - things happen. Nice to reisit yester-year. I MET Clayton at the Horse show in the 50's when I still wore the Hubly cap pistols.

Thank you I wonder why they have changed the lone ranger actors.
That’s cause there’s only One The Lone Ranger!

This guy has no chemistry whatsoever with Tonto (Jay Silverheels.)
Just not the same without Clayton Moore
Even the relationship between him and Tonto isn't the same.
Only One Lone Ranger! Clayton Moore.
Agreed
I'm so glad someone else is saying this
I loved Clayton too, but let's not forget that George Seaton, Earle Graser, and Bruce Beemer all came before him.
Simple? yes. . . Psuedo western? Sure. . . Hokey? Absolutely . . . LOVE it? You Betchum, Red Ryder . . . .
John Hart did o'kay protreal The LONE Ranger but he was not Clayton Moore
HART WAS BETTER!!!!!!!
Hart had no presence or personality.
They replaced Moore with a guy who had the personality and presence of a wet noodle.
This is Larry Graves' fave season.
Always be careful what you say because when say you something terrible it will backfire
All right then........beans and mushy peas
They should have also replaced Tonto with some Jewish guy.

Good son indeed!
Should of called this the Lone Stranger that John Hart played.
It seems that Season 3 Episode 37, 'Triple Cross,' is missing.
Well, Someone else ALSO noticed. Nice Going. . . . Showsthat we are paying attention.
