I can't believe the negative comments. This one of the best videos I've seen in a long time.
James Phillips only real fighters understand how ridiculous tai chi is for street fights
@@Acrobatics3 OK I watched this video again. Looks like tai chi is mostly defensive. I can see where something like MMA would be more effective in a street fight. But as always depends on the skill of the practitioner. In tai chi those ridiculous moves can be powerful and lightning fast. Thanks for the reply.
@@jamesphillips496 it would be but not this tai chi
@@theguiller14 I looked back on that video one year ago. I don't know a lot about Tai Chi, I learned the waving cloud hands circling form from Yang style. And just from that one form in a short space of time it had real transferable skills. That's what piqued my interest in Tai Chi.
People criticise what they don't have the intellect to understand.
I totally Like this kind of videos 😆

Thanks for putting this together, now the practice moves have a practical application, I could never figure out a use for Snake Creeps down.
This video is so great in showing how to apply White Crane Showing its Wing(白鶴亮翅 in Chinese or a hand moves up) in combination with its next style, brushing the knee and pushing forward (摟膝拗步 in Chinese), Snake Drops Down(蛇身下勢 in Chinese) in combination with its next style, Rooster Standing with a Leg(金雞獨立 in Chinese), and Brushing the Knee combining Pulling (捋, Lu in sound translation)! Until now, I do not know how to apply the three combos. Thanks!
The grab from the back give the guy a position really do a Nutcracker
thank you both
When I started Tai chi, I was surprised that every move turned out to have some fighting application, along with an energetic.
same here
even the respiratory technique Ch'i Shih
check this vid (at 18:43 ua-cam.com/video/two4qe0HxiA/v-deo.html )
that is very cool in my opinion, even an every day movement can be lethal ya know with proper training.
And how many fights have you had?
Lol
It actually has 5 applications without variance. Example, each move is a compression attack, a throw, a chin'na or joint lock, or a throw. If you break down each movement and understand body positioning, you will then get how to use each technique this way.
Yelp I use mine with pre emotive strikes
The explanation of this is so clear.I might use this if it's necessary☺

This is so so simple yet so simply complicated but smooth and so so so effective. Thanks
Love this video. I have used moves like this many time to de-escalate situations where I would otherwise have to hurt someone
I studied Tai chi and it greatly helped my Hap ki do training.
Full bullshido mastery right here!
Thanks! Tai Chi is awesome. Natural self-defense.
This will get your ass kicked in a real fight.
But for me after i bring them down and they wanna fight then i bring out the nunchucks and swing but no hitting him I act like it and he will ether run or fight if wanna fight I will use it on them

Ghee I remember these moves..th 🙏 Jake and DDR.
I love the emphasis on the principles. Thanks 🙏
I could weigh into the whole debate about street vs dojo vs traditional vs MMA vs reality vs style vs practitioner, etc, but I'm going to exercise some restraint (martial arts teaches you that! lol) and just share something I found interesting.
I remember clearly over 30 years ago my father showing me a technique for escaping a bear-hug. He had been a nightclub bouncer (security) and in their training sessions they practised getting out of a bearhug with...
A sudden drop! - much like in this video. I thought it was really cool to see a practical application here for one of the least practical-looking Tai Chi movements :)
Maybe people get stirred-up because the Video's title seems a bit of an over-reach!
But I assume titles like this and '24 Tai Chi Form - Amazing' etc, are meant to be a little tongue-in-cheek, while driving people to click on the video. And hey, we're all here watching it and leaving comments, aren't we? :D
I am a Tai Chi practitioner with a varied martial arts background. So, after putting in over 10,000 hours of practice, if I can watch a 10 minute video, and pick up just ONE interesting and/or useful thing, that is time well spent!
DDR and Jake are clearly skilled and dedicated martial artists. So, my attitude is simply "What might I learn?" (apart from how to get more UA-cam hits!)
The ultimate logic vs the Ultimate strength
Excellent
Only these moves work on jake mace😂😂
I love the Tango twist dance move at 3:45 LOL
You're the man Jake!!
retitle: how to win a slow motion fight with someone who is not trying to hurt you and has no martial arts experience
I am a tai chi total novice but from my layperson understanding this video is demonstrating external moves that you can find in other martial arts--where as tai chi is an internal art that uses total relaxation "song" to create hua and fa.
Probably why Yung fa was explained, huh?✌️🙏💯
Just once, I'd like to see a full on, no holds barred street fight between a good street fighter and a good martial artist. I believe in both styles of fighting, but I'd just like to see them both in action.
Glad to see you guys understand the philosophy of Tai Chi marital art that "making use of the momentum of your opponent to work against him. @eric thefathead, Another important philosophy of Tai Chi martial art is "to start later but hit earlier". That means to let your opponent start the move first and show you his openness (undefended space or posture), and to set your posture and movement taking advantage of it".
Good basic example of Tai Chi self defense. You can explain it all day and a lot of people will never get it. Years ago, I learned twice just how dominating (in a soft way) Tai Chi can be, which kinda blew me away. Then there’s all those fast and powerful whip like strikes, subtle strikes, low kicks etc. etc. I was skeptical about your videos at first Jake, but not anymore. Keep up the good work!
People need to stop associating MMA with effectiveness, just because they see their favorite fighters do something cool which they are of the top 1% of fighters in the world does not make their style exclusive. Any martial art will end a fight with training and discipline.
Simply not true bro
All blessings to all , at one time tai chi chuan was considered a martial art ,after being watered down it became an exercise
That sounds like the same principles in Aikido as it would be in tai chi. Where you don't resist - you flow. ☯️
that is useful thanks jake

Internal martial art is based on the philosophy that gentlemen do not fight. Internal martial art is not like MMA. In deeper sense, it's about knowing who you are: love, peace, courage, and awareness.
In other words, internal martial art is about INFORMATION (" knowing"). Gentlemen do not fight, they CONTROL. Internal martial art is applied Qibernetics.

Greetings from Montréal, Québec, Canada !!! Just came accros this video that comes at a right time in my life; I am 64 yrs. old, out of shape, knees that hurt with some 40 pounds extra for a 5'7" tall man. Never got into fights in my life and not looking for one, but IF I were to be faced with such situation, I find your TAI CHI techniques to be perfect to DISCOURAGE my/the attacker. What is the best TAI CHI style I should go for ? IF you lived in Montréal, what school/dojo would you pick ? Thank you for your advice, looking forward to watching your past and future videos !!! Stay healthy my good men !!! Cheers !!!

FWIW, I spar regularly with a guy who uses a lot of tai chi and it works exceedingly well. Like anything else, you have to spar for it to work, and to find out what doesnt work. He combines it with fundamentals from from various arts, and god is he scary in the clinch

If he punches in a straight line and not a projected round house, you’ll get clocked in the face
Fighting is very fast and if the enemy gets too close you wont know what u doing and the one with most energy wins the struggle. Thats why get in fighting stance and keep that stance during whole fight and make sure ur kicks and punches are very hard to stop enemys attack.
As a person who's been in a few street fights and who's trained in Karate I can assure you that stuff doesn't work and is likely to get you hurt.

if jake thinks these moves will win every street fight then he has clearly never seen or been in a real street fight and if he really cared about the safety of his subscribers he would teach practical techniques and scenarios.
ProdigyYGO he doesn’t
no any practical techniques lol that’s y he comes up with he own bull shit he doesn’t care about people wanting to learn real martial arts he just want views and money
Cause he watched too much movies
I actually think it could work in street fight, but you need to be really good meaning years of practice. I think boxing will be much more effective and in a much shorter time...
And yes, Tai Chi is a art!
The point is to not win, its to stop the fight entirely. They even said so at 2:50 or so. The point is to defend yourself by stopping them
LMAO... yeah, right...
The bear hug technique was poorly executed by the "attacker". No one would ever grab you that high above the elbows.
This is the first comment I have ever left. My instructors pedigree stems from sansai kanazowa, enoida and in his later years of training, the tai chi master sifu Paul Compton. I have been looking at internal arts for the last 10 years now. Nut hit. Do not fanciful your art. You know better. I have watched you for 2 years now. Do not let your students think they can handle themselves when they can’t. Over complicating a technique will get you killed. Your understanding of chi seems like you know what you are talking about, and believe me, I am not discrediting you in any way. But,And I say but. I have had first hand experience of time shift and hollow arms, although I am years away from that understanding. Understanding of chi involves complete relaxation, if done correctly drop you scapula and let your hands hang. You should feel a slight pins and needles feel in your hands. If you can be that relaxed when you hit, you will project with your strike. Why have you never mentioned this. Do not let people get hurt because you are showing them inferior techniques.Be real.
Woow another video to trick younger people who never done martial arts again label titleing the video 3 moves to win any street fight is pretty pretentious if you never been in a street fight yourself Jake Mace I’ve giving you credit for your gardening skills but this is just ridiculous your marketing yourself at some type of masters but you’re not it’s cool if you want to lie to yourself and pretend that you’re some type of master but when you start to lie to the whole world about your fake martial arts skill real martial artist of course call u out I still like Your gardening in meditation videos
wolf pack mixed martial arts indeed, I guarantee you that that's all bullshit. all of the attacks are teleghraphed but in a real fight/streetfight it's highly unlikely that you know what your opponent is gonna throw. and here there just rollin with it without struggling against each others attack. this is total BS like the rest of his videos
Sabri Achahbar exactly jace mace doesn’t have the understanding of practicing in slow motion and actually full contact fight hell he doesn’t even spar he’s scared to spar Sergio from practical martial arts even in light sparring he’d do anything to keep from being exposed all he cares about is views and money the guys a fraud he try’s to play the Genuine martial artist but he’s not a complete liar is what he is

Heart shot on the palm . He may drop right there. But its about timing
I heard the the calligraphy character for martial means "stop the spear" or has even been translated to "stop violence". The idea behind that being that we're not looking to engage of fight or prolong a fight. Rather a martial artist's goal is looking to find the way to stop the fight. Cool right?
+Jay Dester 2693 Yes, the kanji for 武道 (ぶどう) BUDO or the Martial Arts/Martial Way can be translated into "the Path/Way of Stopping the Spear/Violence". The kanji 武 (ぶ・む) BU or MU which means Military/Martial is made up of two kanji 戈 (ほこ) HOKO which means Spear and 止まる (とまる) TOmaru which means to stop. 道 (どう) DO means the Path/Way. So, 武道 (ぶどう) BUDO can mean the Way/Path of stopping the spear/violence.

I have no problem with people training martial arts like wing chun and tai chi if it keeps you fit and you enjoy it then go right ahead. But people need to stop advertising it as something that will win against the more effective martial arts like Muay Thai, wrestling, bjj, boxing or even judo. If it was as effective as it's made out to be in videos like this, you'd see at least a substantial amount of people in professional mma using the techniques from it. I have nothing against you as the person who makes these videos and have complete respect for the effort you put in to your craft but the whole advertisement of this as something which will work leads to people thinking they can fight and in turn, getting hurt.
How do you win a fight or a street fight every time??? Is it punches, kicks, submission, sweeps, grappling, takedowns, or weapons? What is the REAL ANSWER??? It is contained in this Tai Chi Chuan Fighting Video BUT the REAL ANSWER may NOT be what you think and is contained DEEP inside this lesson with David-Dorian Ross and Jake Mace...

People say the video is plain garbage and i mist say some of this is fairly hard but, I have seen tai chi used correctly and SOME of his moves were used, and they are relaxing as well as a fairly great intro to tai chi in some of his videos. But actually getting real lessons or potentially better videos will help.
One thing I would think you would want to be careful of when you’re hitting the sternum is hitting a part of the bone that’s easily breakable. If you break it off, you could potentially puncture something. Not good!
Otherwise, a good video! :)
Yeah The area below the heart space and above the bellyy would be head on, because of the fattines or muscle the enemy would perplex in the opposite direction
