this is true entertainment... music will never ever sound like this again... the stuff one hears today is the last gasping for air of a dying giant once known as hiphop... very sad...
You know the eighties were all about the party. Everybody was convinced the Russians were going to start wwIII, the rich were getting richer, the rest of us were working trying to make a dollar out of fifteen cent. Music and parties took your mind off your troubles
Being from the DMV, I remember my brother sending me a copy of this groove when i was stationed in Ft. Sill, OK..Being a Kurtis Blow/Experience Unlimtied fan, My brother said " Man there's a song KB/E.U. has out that has WASHINGTON DC. on fire in the clubs & the Go-Go's (Go-Go's are the venues where the bands play,ie. High schools/parks/small clubs) On my leave we had a BLAST ! My lil brother (17 yrs old) got laid 4 the 1st time, i showed him the ropes w/ the ladies...Nothing like the 80's !!!!
Eu, ouvi esse som pela primeira vez na Soul Train, uma danceteria que tinha na rua Amauri em SP. O DJ que tocava lá era o Ricardo Guedes, que já faleceu. Bons tempos.
This is Hip Hop lyrics over a Go-Go beat from Washington, DC. In fact, Kurtis Blow raps about this "rappin' on the go-go scene". The Go-Go group from DC is called EU (Experience Unlimited) and they brought us songs like "Doin' da Butt" as well as the "EU Freeze". In any case, this a classic example of the early fusion between New York Rap and DC Go-Go. There are many examples if one cares to examine.
Well stated,..bruh! EU also collaborated with Salt and Pepa, and Grace Jones on Slave to the Rythm. They're an incredible band led by the one and only Sugar Bear.
Beastie Boys' Hey Ladies song brought me here. On that note, This song also introduced to the world with the voices of the Full Force. Fine good start from the Force!!!!
Essa foto é do album "Tough" mas a música "Party Time" não faz parte desse album This pic is from "Tough" but the tune "Party Time" is not part of this album
Dam right, many artists have ate off Go Go beats. Beyonce's biggest hit Crazy In Love is a Go Go beat, Amerie's hit This One Thing is a Go Go beat. Go Go been slept on too long with main stream. D.C. is a hidden jewel and I'm waiting for D.C. to really eat from a groove created from there.
Yes but I dont understand why eu never but rarely play party time or slave to the rhythym with grace jones on todays shows or even back 83 0r 85 never seen them perform those cuts
This was more of a hit for Kurtis Blow. That's why I said them N.Y. bammas would come to D.C. to bite off the Go Go bands and the Go Go beat to get a hit for them which is some bullshit.
Dude, it's a collaboration not a competition. Blow probably exposed Go-Go to a wider audience because of this song. NYC may not have experienced Go-Go if not for Blow. Also maybe Spike Lee doesn't get inspired use EU for his movie? It's not about biting.
I liked Rap but loved Electro and the Washington Go-Go Sound but by 1988 both ere dead sadly with Gangsta Rap and Public Enemy ( who were great)...hate Rap now
It will forever be party time for those who actually lived it.
They don’t make hip hop like this no more GREATNESS
THESE DAYS ARE GONE, BUT GLAD I WAS ALIVE TO ENJOY THEM, AND I STILL DO IN THE COMFORT OF MY HOME.
you are young dont lie
Unfortunately gone !!!!! 😢
This joint still crank in 2024
This joint rocked the clubs in DC!
For sure, we got down in Virginia too. Love it.
Love the horns in this cut, so smooth and amazing . GO GO , JAZZ, R&B, WRAPP all n one.. SWEET!!!
For sure 🤗
WOW! Kurtis Blow will be 59 in August 2018! What a legend and still going strong. He still is the best rapper!
Oh my feet hurt just listening to this, got on the dance floor, and didnt get off until i sweated out my do' and sweated off my make up. Great times!
😂🎉
One of the true pioneer's of Rap, top tune!
this is true entertainment... music will never ever sound like this again... the stuff one hears today is the last gasping for air of a dying giant once known as hiphop... very sad...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KURTIS THANK YOU FOR THE FINEST JAMS.& HAPPY BIG 50.
Muito bom anos 80 kurtis
You know the eighties were all about the party. Everybody was convinced the Russians were going to start wwIII, the rich were getting richer, the rest of us were working trying to make a dollar out of fifteen cent. Music and parties took your mind off your troubles
Times sure were different back then… 🙄
Truth be told, when this came out, people outside of the DC area weren’t up on the Go Go beat so it ended up getting lost in the shuffle (1983-1984)
Full force is singing background vocals on this joint
Eu curtia essa bastante na minha infância.
Cara... Eu ainda curto. No meu tempo de adolescente, se não tivesse uma música dele no baile, a gente xingava o dj
Pioneer of hip hop!!!✌

What you ropes with the ladies?
I'm from MD, and was an AF medic stationed in Europe. It was fun turning my friends on to go-go. (This was, obviously, pre-Internet.)

Well no kidding tell us something else that we already know?
I love your comment. This song dates me. At 55 I still like it.
@@MUSIC4762 C'mon man. Michael's comment was educational to me
GoGo music also known as Junk Funk.

Kurtis Blow - Party Time 1982
In this 1982 song/this song released in 1982, the LinnDrum was heard.
i love how he brings in the EU Freeze
Actually, the Beasties sampled this on Hey Ladies.
In the Capital of the nation, there's a brand new sound sensation! EU representing DC!
u could play this over and over and over at my partyy
Mine too, at my bday parties each year!
I remember September 1983 he turned Donahue out singin this joint. Yo he had 60 year old white chics rockin to this...talkin bout "Oh no, oh no!"
Donahue isn't white dumbass. Irish are non-white with Latin-like English accents. Spaniards are white with Penelope Cruz English accents.
In The Place 2 Be!
'full force' on the vocals
Pai da música black, sou muito fã.destaque som, Rogério DJ jardim das oliveiras Fortaleza Ceará.
