    Sounds like there could have been elder abuse going on and possible financial abuse with whoever she was living with… And since she was 75 she probably should have been held at the hospital for psych evaluation. Does not make sense that a woman suffering from dementia was not held at the hospital, but was transported to jail instead, then released…later found dead…I hope there is a thorough investigation because on all levels she was failed.

    75 years old is elderly, is everybody in Harris county satisfied now? Since you can't take the plank out of your own eyes, is your outrage and anger satisfied that a 75 year old lady was incarcerated, and then thrown out onto the streets of downtown when I'm sure she had some mobility and dementia issues at that age... They couldn't give her a ticket for disorderly conduct or something that had to throw this elderly lady into jail and then onto the streets of downtown Houston?

    • @PFlaw317

      Flat out ridiculous to arrest that woman and place her in jail. So stupid. • @MrTwotimess
    @MrTwotimess 6 місяців тому +13

    Why is there no help in America for people with mental health issues? People expect the police to respond to these calls, but they've got no training in dealing with difficult patients. How many times does a police response to these cases end in tragedy? It was negligent to let this old woman out on bail without being handed over to the custody of a family member. I get it - dementia is a terrible condition.

    The family is at fault here, for not notifying the jail that their loved one had cognitive issues, i.e., dementia. It's not the jail's problem if an adult posts bond & leaves on their own. If they didn't let her leave, people would claim they were keeping her unfairly for no reason.

      It's not that black and white. Nothing much is. The hospital and jail played a part. The jail probably thought she was high. She never bailed out. She had a Personal Recognizance bond. Its looks objectively better to have s death outside vs. Inside the jail. It's possible that subjectively someone or entity thinks it's better if someone else deals with the issue and rushes a victim/patient out.

      The police don't have a duty to protect you. See Warren v. District of Columbia. Stay strapped and alert.

    If she suffers from Dementia she is supposed to be under the care a mental health clinic staff. All hospitals , doctors and clinics are able to open her medical record every time she sees a doctor. The hospital needs to know her medical history to see if she has alergies or is takings any meds so how come nobody knew that she had dementia. If she has dementia..how was she able to sign at front desk or pay for her bond or charges???
    All hospitals are sharing medical information through Epic. What happened here!!!
    Someone with Dementia is just like a little child!
    Can you imagine letting a little child walk free in the city all alone???
    I am so sorry for Ms Sherry Williams...some many answered questions.
    Like..who called police when she had the altercation with another lady?? Whas she alone at her house? Where were her family that knows she has dementia? You dont leave someone with dementia alone. :(

    In her mental health condition. She should have never gone to jail. She should have been turned over to a family member or medical treated ...😮 DISGUSTING way to treat a 75 year old with dementia and heart disease....SMH. ya'll wouldn't treat a dog like this 😕

    Her family let her down, so did the police, but the latter is no surprise.

    Anytime you release people from their "natural environment" things like this are bound to happen.

    I hope the family does NOT let this go unchallenged. 20 miles away? After walking out of the jail?? FOUL PLAY. FOH!
