Kate says that when she spins fine singles, she can fit about 200 yards on a spindle. It really depends on how fine the singles are that you are spinning. Traditionally, a charkha spindle is filled with singles and that are then wound off into a skein. However, Kate usually plies her singles into skeins that combine singles from many spindles. She and has a great tip and demonstrates splicing, joining, and storing singles in this companion video: ua-cam.com/video/8UVQE_nOKNE/v-deo.html. You may enjoy checking that out!
Peter here, excellent information Kate!
Thank you! Great presentation! Now I know 😊
Glad it was helpful!
how many yards can you get on each spindle? Then how can you join the yarn to make more yards on a bigger spindle?
