I feel the same way, Ryan. Rizzo was instrumental in rekindling my love for the Cubs and baseball in general back in 2015, after I had not watched baseball since the early 1990s. (Sandberg, Dawson, and Grace were my sports heroes-greatest Cubs team ever!) This trade is shocking and mystifying on every level. The Chicago Cubs have essentially committed sports suicide. Losing Schwarber, Almora, and Lester was hard enough, but this defies all reason. They have willingly dismantled the World Series championship team we've loved for so many years now. What else could this be called but *sabotage* ? I am still trying to recover from the shock of learning that the Cubs were even *contemplating* trading either Rizzo, Bryant, or Baez-literally their three most valuable players and offensive/defensive superstars-let alone ALL THREE of them at the same time! And now Rizzo has actually been traded??? This is madness! Anthony Rizzo is the heart of this team and the Ryne Sandberg of this generation!!! He should've ended his career as a Cub. @@lennonroberts6571 I grew up not liking the Yankees, going back to great 50's and 60's dynasty. I was tired of them winning all the time. I did root for the Yankees a few times though. First in 1998, just out of respect for excellence and Joe Torre. Also when they played Mets then Marlins a few years later in world series. Cub fans(which I am) have bad memories vs. Mets going back to 1969, and we gave the NL pennant to Marlins in 2003 who subsequently beat Yankees in World Series. That anger has faded since Cubs won world series however. I could root for Yankees again this year, if Rizzo is a big factor in their success. Rizzo already has two homers in two games for Yankees. I hope the NY fans treat him well. Also I wish Bryant well in SF and Baez well with Mets. Cubs are probably going nowhere for several years, though I would be happy to be wrong.

I'm a Nats fan (who's also in deep mourning rn) and even this made me super sad 😔😔. Rizzo is such a class act guy and a hell of a first baseman. it's gonna be weird to not see him in Wrigley. Best of luck to him.
I am a Braves fan but I love Anthony rizzo well miss him yelling Frederick at Freddy freeman
Maybe in the World Series he will do that again
@@stoneymaze Doubt it
I’m a Yankees fan and I’m happy that he got traded but I fell sorry for all the Cubs fans because they all looked up to him
Anthony was my favorite but I hope he does good with the Yankees
As a Yankee fan, I feel like we got a good one. Hope we can keep him and treat him right. Respect to the Cubs fans and their reactions to this news. This has to be a big loss and im not sure how or why the Cubs even let him go. 🤔
Yanks fan here, Super excited to have this glove at 1b! His glove is elite..
@@knickbockerz7536 We are pretty solid defensively. Im excited about the offensive and defensive upgrades but Im more interested in the club house leadership. Hopefully these guys have a Nick Swisher effect. The Yankees need a spark of character for sure.
Money, pure and simple. The Cubs front office dismantles the team every 5 years.
@@donhill7239 Thats sure rough on the fan base. ☹
He just hit his first HR and it was a bomb. That didn't take long. Guys a stud! 😃
One day I will meet him #THANKYOURIZZO
I’m literally crying Rn noooooooooo
This is a tough day for Cubs fans. Thankfully I’m also a Rizzo fan, and forever will be. Best of luck.
The human highlight reel, you will be missed rizzo
Well take care of him :) hopefully give him another playoff experience!
@@savagecabbageboi6491 like your username btw, fan of his
Take care of him for us
I will miss You as a Chicago Cub good luck at The Yankees
Rizz, don't get an attitude like every other former yankee. I just can't fathom this.
From a lifelong Yanks fan.
We will take care of him, I’ve seen this man play. He deserves the best treatment.
Gonna miss you at Wrigley, hopefully you come back after 3 months. Love Rizzo
As a brewers fan, rizzo will be missed. The fierce rivalries and (rather reluctantly) rooting for the cubs on the world series. He's always a cub to me.
I’m crying 😭
I am a Yankee fan and I am happy the yanks have Rizzo, but I want you all cub fans to know that Anthony Rizzo will always be remembered as a Cub, especially because he won a World Series with the Cubs in 2016. So be happy that Rizzo at least got to win a World Series. You may hold your Rizzo with the cubs memories with your forever! Welcome to the Yanks Rizzo!
I’m gonna miss that guy.
Rizzo was something special for the Cubs and Chicago in so many ways. This trade will forever change that, even if he finds his way back to the Cubs in the future. Thank you Rizzo for all you have done for the Cubs, all you have meant to the city, and for what you will always mean to those in the medical fights of their lives.
Very sad Cubs fan now - think I will have to take a pause from the Cubs for a while :(
Beautifully stated, Jennifer. The Chicago Cubs have committed sports suicide. I remain in disbelief.
Pain.
In all seriousness, thanks for all you have done Rizzo.
Rest In Peace cubs team 2011-2021
I thought he was gonna end as a cub… sad to see him go. He’s been the heart and soul of our team. Thank you rizz
Not just the team. The whole city loved him.
He still could
Im a Cubs fan and I’m disappointed we traded him he’s my favorite he gave me motivation
The fact that after tomorrow Bryzzo is gonna be gone just hurts.
I will be really disappointed by the Front office if Bryant is still on the team after the deadline. Would be by far the worst possible move they could of made to deal Rizzo and not Bryant.
I’m crying rn
Bro the Cubs owner is so dumb
I’m not even a Cubs fan and I felt this... 🥲
I’m crying right now. I love you Rizzo, I’m going to miss you baby. 😭❤️
First time I ever cried in public as a grown man was in 2016. My grandfather, the man who instilled a love for Chicago sports in me, lived and died without ever seeing the Cubs win a World Series.
I won't ever have to say the same thing. You did that Anthony. Thank you so much man. We love you and we always will. Best of luck in New York.
Gonna miss him. Glad he got ya that ring!
This hit me hard.
Thank you for everything Rizzo. I watched you through all my years of school. Some of my greatest memories were watching you play. I will never forget those days and you will always be a Chicago Cub in my heart.
This made me cry, We love you rizzo👋❤️
Wow, for all the reasons you listed to thank him, you trade him?! That’s an awesome thank you!!! What a tremendous loss to Chicago and all his fans!
It's the only thing that makes sense from a manager standpoint. Sad but true
He would've been gone in free agency anyways
I'm a Yankee fan and I cried. It's clear even from the outside looking in that Anthony meant the world to you guys and was the beating heart of that 2016 team. I can only hope the Yankees play well down the stretch and give him a chance to shine in October simply because he's the kind of player who deserves it every single year. He isn't just a great player, he's a great human being. Regardless of where the rest of his career takes him, he'll always be a Cub to me, and I'm sure you guys feel the same.
