The pipe guard is a KTM power parts pipe guard. You can get off amazon or Ktmparts website. Usually cost about $100 I bought it on sale at Chapmoto for like $75 last summer. Stands up to rocks and heat with out issues for the past 1000+ miles, so I'm happy with kit. Congrats on your 350, once you get the gearing set up for your riding and do your wanted mod's your going to be in love!
Great garage review of the 350. I had a 05' 450 EXC and loved it, for some reason, I upgraded to an 08' 450 EXC-R but it was never as good as my 05! At 210 lbs dry, beefier springs would be the righteous call for me. Thanks.
@ AndrewFindlay, sorry but it won't let me reply to your question specifically for whatever reason. But I went with the EXC-F because in my state, dirt bikes cannot be titled for street use if they do not come with factory license plates. The XCF also has the motocross version engine and uses a linkage suspension (exactly like the motocross SXF bikes). I wanted a plated bike so I had no choice but to get the EXC and I wanted the PDS non linkage suspension. Hope that answers your question! Oh and the smaller rear lights and license plate frame can be bought from Sicassracing.com
hi there I try to figure out, why you prefer the pds rear suspension instead of the linkage ? I consider this model or a beta rr350 and as 3rd choice a husqvarna fe350 and I need help... is the pds better than rear linkage suspension ????
I was looking for street and trail bike. but I didn't like the soft mellow ride. until I walked in to dealers show room and saw the KTM350EXC F. WOW what a bike. A tough dirt bike and street legal. after a couple of days the dealer call and asked if I was still interested in the 350. He also said that he just got a 500exc in that was used with a 125 miles on it. The price was a lot cheaper. $6900 for the 500 $8400 for the 350. the still up in the air on witch bike.
Nice review. I pick up my 2013 in less than 12 hours. What kind of pipe guard is that? Is that a factory part available? Great idea. I already have the new gearing waiting in the garage.
500, 525, 530 Vs. 350. It depend on usecase. You gonna go on the street a lot. Get the big one. I just talked with 4 very very experienced Enduro riders the other day. They all recommended me to buy a 350 KTM exc. (It also depends on your country, If you have acces to a dessert I guess a 525 would be good if you really are gonna go fast fast. )
Yeah agreed on that pipe cover - my riding pants keep getting wrecked without. Odd to see KTM not fitting these as stock on an exc. Anyways hope the bike is still running well :)
I just found a comparison. Interesting the XCF-W is more set up for woods/enduro style riding. Please let me know where you got your smaller rear lights from and if there is a source for a smaller license plate frame. Cheers
Yes and no. This isn't a dual sport bike that is designed for cruising on the road. It's basically a dirt bike with a license plate. But yes, in its stock form its okay to ride on the street unless you want to add the upgrades of your choice.
It's a whole another animal. The DRZ is an awesome and reliable bike that handles dirt roads and light off roading just fine. Heck even some technical riding it will do, just not ideally. The 350EXC/500EXC's are light weight plated race bikes that will feel like a mountain bike compared to your DRZ. You won't ever want to go back to your DRZ if you do end up getting one. So if you want a do it all bike that you can feel comfortable on the tighter and more technical stuff, the new KTM's are your go to bikes. If you only ride mild and occasional moderate terrain, a DRZ is fine. The light weight, great handling and awesome power the new KTM's put out though will keep you smiling all ride long :)
+johnrunner89 Nice bike John. I am planning on getting one myself and turning it street legal...the 250cc to be exact..I hope it's a good starter bike that won't get me killed tho lol.
I'm looking at one of these too, the only thing that has shy'd me away so far is the price tag. 10,500 is a lot of coin for a dirt bike. There are little to no used ones or any new non-current ones in the country.
Keep on looking and be patient for a lightly used one. They have been around since they were released in summer of 2011. So with time, you'll see more and more used ones hit the market.
I have a rmz250 now,but i am turning 16 soon and want to get my M1 but still want to do the trails and lots of offroad stuff. I want something around the 350cc to,what Ktm should i get ? Thanks
If you live in a state that allows you to add street equipment and plate a dirt bike, then look for a KTM 350xcw, as it will save you money from buying an EXC.
SpenDowdy10 I'm not sure on your laws and regulations in Ontario, Canada. But here in the USA, plating a dirt bike depends on the state you live in. If I remember reading correctly though, plating a dirt bike in Canada has became extremely difficult in Ontario. So you might have to get a factory plated bike, hence the 350EXC. Check with your local laws though to confirm. Look around for a lightly used 2012/13 models as good deals are all around.
Nope, just have the suspension set up for your weight. The low end might feel a little light but once the bike hits mid to high rpm's, it's going to pull your around no problem. If you need the low end though, go with the 500exc.
If your used to a 650l, the 350exc or even the 500 exc (only a 7lb difference I believe) are going to feel like crazy powered bicycles in the woods! I have both, 500exc and 350exc, both feel light and nimble!

thank you for the detailed explanation. it will help me make
an informed buying decision.

Nice! I have been looking for a dual sport. I'm only 5"9 and I weigh 145Lbs. What would be the best dual sport for my size?
The 350exc would be perfect. If you plan on doing high mileage commuting on it though, I'd look into the 500exc or the 690r.
You don't really have a choice anymore anyway. Ktm bought all the other brands that offer real off road/mx dual sports.
Hi John. Why did you get the EXC-F instead of the XCF-W if you end up changing the rear lighting anyway? Are there any other differences..? Cheers
I just found a comparison. Interesting the XCF-W is more set up for woods/enduro style riding.

What sort of hours have you had out of it before a top end ?

did your chain eat through the back chain slider? my klx i did 13, 52 it was awesome but it chainsawed right thru.
very nice motorcycle. I have a question. if I have owned and been happy with a Dr-z 400. do you think the ktm will be a good bike for me

It's the stock height version. Still holding up well.

I won't give up, unless someone direct injects a two stroke for on/off. Gorgeous bike dude, I'm envious. Ride safe, ride fast.
The bike? Depending on your state/country, you can get them for about 10k OTD.
What turn signals did you end up installing? Nice review.....
The ones in the video are universal led turn signals. I broke those and ended up with the Sicass turn signals. A little pricier but great signals.
I went with Baja Designs.
i ride more street than dirt. im looking for a light weight dual sport that can hold its own on the highway. whats the top speed on the 350?
Top speed is just over 100mph. But it varies depending on your gearing but nonetheless about 100mph give or take a few mph on gearing selection.
hi there, you mentioned you added a fan, what is the fan that you installed & does it turn on often and/or at what degrees does it kick in?
Thanks!
It's a KTM Oem fan kit. Temperature has to get 205degrees Fahrenheit to turn on. You can get aftermarket thermometer to turn it on sooner though.
+johnrunner89 thanks! Have a great holidays
engine ice is the bomb i use that also never over heated even in first lugging. also how many gears does it have 5 or 6.
Yea, engine is best to prevent boil overs, I recommend it for all bikes. And the bike has 6 gears.
how has it been holding up? Thinking about getting a 14 model
You got it? Is it good?
@@sund5 I had a 2015 350excf for about 4 years. I didn't love the engine characteristics if I had gotten the 500 I would have been happier
Is this bike completely ready for casual road riding stock?
What are the maintenance intervals on these bikes like?
According to Manual, 15hr oil changes, 30hr valve checks. Valves never moved and bike has thousands of miles.
Thats not bad at all, I thought they would be way more frequent than that.
Is that the stock height seat concepts seat or the tall version?
Thanks
HI, nice bike!!! I have the 2012 and I like your mirror. Where did you buy it?
Thanks.
It's an MSR fold away mirror. In all honestly, it doesn't work that great like the stock one but is much more compact.
what size chain did you go with your 14-52
Hey, does the bike have a neutral light?
I have a rmz250 now,but i am turning 16 soon and want to get my M1 but still want to do the trails and lots of offroad stuff. I want something around the 350cc to,what Ktm should i get ?
Thanks

How would it compare to a 450? I had a crf450 and want something close to it street legal. Or should I look at a 500
David Worcester Sorry the late reply, forgot about this video. If your use to a big bore torque, your going to want the 500.
Got the 350 love it after pipe and opening her up
Are you in California?
Yup! Keep em looking fresh lol
No, unfortunately it does not. Has speedo/odo/hour meter for dispay and then FI light, High beam light, low gas light and turn signal light.
What kind of fan did you go with?
KTM OEM Fan that comes stock on the 500exc.
I'm thinking about it, it's just a very pricy upgrade.
Very nice.
Iam 230 lbs iam I too big for it????
Nope, just have the suspension set up for your weight. The low end might feel a little light but once the bike hits mid to high rpm's, it's going to pull your around no problem. If you need the low end though, go with the 500exc.
iam riding mainly off road I have a xr650l its too heavy in the woods

i wish i could afford one of these beauty's
Ottima moto
Do you still have it?
What was the battery you used instead of stock??
