Happy to note that you like my videos. Thanks very much indeed. Embroidery is a creative art and like in all art forms, here also imagination plays a vital role. There’s no hard and fast rule as to where you should use less strands or more strands. If you want the design to be bright, use six strands maximum and for less bright motifs use minimum strands. But if you want to quickly finish then use maximum strands. It all depends on how you want your work to be . Hope this reply answers your query.

You are 100% right. It's a Phulkari, not a Chikankari. Depending on the embroidery patterns, the phulkari has been given many names. Chikankari uses the chana patti stitch to form flowers and leaves, however, this work is purely phulkari because it uses the satin stitch.

Sorry but as a fashion designer it is taking too much effort for me to not put a comment here to correct. This is not phulkari ( the spelling is not fulkari). What you did is chikankari. What differentiate the two is not different names given to the stitches but how the motifs are made. Phulkari also is made traditional done with silk unflossed thread. If the motifs were geometric it would have been phulkari.
