Here because of KGTropicals! Never would have cared for ANY saltwater videos. However, seeing my freshwater fish guy taking this step, it peaked my interest. I know that is his goal and already it's happening. Thank you ALL for opening my eyes to other options! ❤️

Saltwater is SO worth it. I have started my saltwater journey 12 years ago when I was 6 my dad got a 120 gallon reef tank for our living room. I was so amazed at all the colors of the corals and fish. I originally wanted to be a marine biologist but many factors stopped that from happening. 3 years ago I got my first freshwater tank for myself to take care of and after 2 1/2 years I start my first reef tank which is 3 months ago and I am so in love with it!

The jump isn’t that hard. Brstv on UA-cam has all the info. Research is the key like everything . It is worth every second I still keep fresh water as well.

The Agenda the late Jake Adams and John had was, and still is, a fantastic idea.
I know I started my own aquarium journey with small planted tanks, grew to a large planted tank, and then converted that to my first reef tank. I could never understand why the two sides of the hobby were so siloed and adversarial. Granted each perspective has it's own challenges and methodologies, yet the more captive environments you understand and have experience with: the stronger a hobbyist you can be. And the stronger the collective hobby becomes for us all.
I wish John & Lisa the best on their foray into salt water. It's a fun journey.

Wow! What a great tank! It was so cool you named your fish Jake. too.
I love that puffer, he's a rock star.
I've always wanted salt water, but because of my job, I don't have the time to take care of one. I'd be afraid it would get neglected. However, you're almost always around. I'm sure you're going to do a fantastic job with this wonderful tank.
I take care of a neighbor's cats some weekends. they have a salt water tank. I recently noticed there are a lot of tiny starfish in her tank. I asked her if she bought them... she said no, that sometimes she gets "surprise inhabitants" when she buys new live rock/corals. These little starfish were a surprise. So cool!
I wish you two all the best with this new addition. Looking forward to seeing future videos on the tank! Best regards.

I AM SO EXCITED to see this!!! I have disappeared for a little while because I've been working on my saltwater tank this is 75 gallons with a 40 gallon sump. I went through a period of Serious boredom I was in a bad funk. Then I came up with starting a saltwater tank actually my 20 year old son talked me into it. Didn't take me much because I needed something more.

May I suggest setting up small nano marine tank. There are some fantastic all in one nano tanks now. You really appreciate the small things with a nano and once mature they really are easy to look after especially with soft corals. The nano for corals keep the big tank for some stunning angels.

    We have a betta fish
We use filtered water and we also use a water treatment chemical that treats tap water. Can we warm that water on the stove to 84 f then add it to the tank on a 50 % change. Its a 10gal tank

Two different worlds with very few similarities. I enjoy salt far much more. I've converted so many tanks "40 tank fishroom" to salt and will continue to keep converting. The rewards are far greater, but the loss and cost is far greater as well. I heard you say your feelings towards freshwater won't change, but i'm proof feelings do change! I thought the same, but salt is just so much more beautiful and challenging in my eyes. Everyone needs to like and subscribe KGTRopicals so they can get more salt tanks! Hope you indulge more with the salt! Brs 52 weeks of reefing is great info for anyone wanting to indulge in the darkside.

What is sad is that 98% plus saltwater are wild caught as very difficult to breed. 98% freshwater are raised. I live in Hawaii. Many people up in arms taking fish to aquariums. People protesting in front of petco. Yellow tangs are a big no from Hawaii.
