There is something not being mentioned that i just recently read about in an article. I noticed the music I was listening to was different when I plugged in my headphones... much more clear and sharp. The audio is completely different and much better. You hear sounds in songs you never heard before, so damn clear when you put the headphones in. I read it in an article just now that they upgraded the 3.5mm. It's crazy.
I was holding out for the big mamma 30" iMac but I have finally given up all hope of this. I bought today the 24" with 24 gig memory option and 1TB SSD. It was finally time as I been loving and living with my late 2015 i7 27" too long with its ole intel chip and upgraded 32 gig of memory, 4 GHz quad-core. I will see the difference soon.
I changed from a MacBook Air M1 base model to iMac M3 10 core 16/512 and it's so good. I love it and I spent extra for longevity so I'm sure in many years I will look back and not regret spending 2 grand on this. The performance is amazing
Yeah, isn't really $200 more. Retailers typically discount the "standard" iMac configs they can't carry the upgraded memory. So you have to typically BTO (Build To Order) from Apple so you lose that discount on top of paying $200 more for RAM. Shame Apple isn't offering more RAM on the upgraded "standard" configs that retailers carry. Also notice how all the tech reviewers seemed to get the 24GB RAM version to review?
Why does EVERY review of an Apple product have to have a spot where the person in the video acts like you can FINALLY edit photos or videos on the NEWEST Mac ?
Attention all 27in iMac people... Apple confirmed today that they have no plans to make a 27in iMac, full stop ( reported from the Verge ) so stop waiting for it. Either settle for this or, get a Mac Mini and get a 27 in monitor.
1:41 What. The power cable? The thing you plug in once and potentially never again? This is one of your favourite features? When Jobs described the Mac as a bicycle for the mind, he was speaking about elevating the world's consciousness with all of the incredible possibilities this accessible technology would unlock. And one of your favourite things is how it connects to power? A wild take!
I totally agree with your wishes/dislikes + I would also like to see 4tb storage and upgradable to M3 PRO chip. If people want that, why doesn't Apple deliver?
When people see what Apple would charge for 4tb of storage, their jaws would hit the floor! Apple charges about *8* *times* as much for storage, compared to the Windows PC world.
See what I don’t understand is you are paying more for less. You could get a 2TB iMac with an intel processor, the ability to expand the ram yourself and a 27 inch 5K Retina display for 2K and have more storage items. Why doesn’t CNET mention this? I love Apple too, but I don’t see why this new Mac is better than the intel models. Can someone please tell me a compelling reason why I should upgrade and pay more for less than I have now? I think CNET is biased.
I do like the mag safe connection. We deploy many imacs and have found many have corrosion problems and some have trouble making a good connection. I would have preferred just USBc. IMO Apple solved a problem that didn't exsist. iMacs seldom move so why do you need a mage safe connection.
Due you mean the corrosion you have seen on Macbooks or iMac 24"? I've certainly seen corrosion on Macbooks didn't know it was a thing on desktops though
Agreed. Apple charges 800 USD for 2tb of storage. Amazon, Newegg (and others) charge 100 USD for 2tb of storage. And of course the Windows ecosystem is enormous, compared to native software for Apple Silicon Macs.
Used to be a fan of Apple. I like the integrated hardware and software, and it used to just work. Now, however, it's frustrating to try to get an Apple product to do what you want it to. People are always talking about what they wish Apple would do, or how few ports there are, or how it's impossible to do a simple upgrade like adding RAM, or how they are starting off with a useless 8GB RAM baseline as a way to try to pretend their computers are somehow on par, price wise, with PCs, etc. With a PC, you can tailor and scope your own build, make adjustments, and do upgrades, and it all costs about 50% of what the Apple product does.
It's too bad the screen's so small. Apple is hosing customers who need a larger screen but don't need an expensive stand-alone screen with either a Mac Mini lacking resources or a resource-heavy Mac studio. So in essence we can either can get something relatively cheap that falls short or something very expensive that empties our wallets. Thanks, Apple. Here's hoping my 2020 27" iMac lasts long enough for Apple to come to their senses instead of ignoring one segment of their market.
There are opportunities available to improve the 24-inch iMac's design, and I'm disappointed Apple hasn' t taken advantage of them. The right side of the machine offers a lone earphone jack, nothing else. The would be a great place to add the SD card slot. I would also like to see a MicroSD card slot, a USB-C port, and a USB-A port there.
