That's a momma bear with an almost 3-year-old cub (nearly subadult, not yet emancipated by mom).
Gotta wonder about these wildlife photographers. WTF are they doing in this close of proximity to the bears? Getting bears comfortable approaching humans so closely will ultimately end badly for the bears and/or some humans.
nah, the real problem is people that don't know anything about them trying to make decisions about them. People that interact with wild animals regularly aren't going to have issues, but the people that don't know anything about them, and decide to go camping in their territory are going to do something silly and cause problems. Your fear is due entirely to being one of those latter types.
@zarroth Tell that to Timothy treadwell and his girlfriend. He was an animal enthusiast and wildlife photographer while the girlfriend isn't, that got killed by the animal species they know so well, aka brown bears. Guess you can never be too cautious and get too full of yourselves at some point. Pride comes before a fall buddy. For threadwell's case, too great a fall that cost him dearly and both his and his girlfriend's lives.
Edit. They weren't experts but this dude interact with animals, particularly bears alot. It didn't prevented the tragedy. Alot of things are not for certain. It's good to be informed or wise and cautious.
@50thniel7_Selah People are always bringing up the exceptions to try to prove their point. Yes, being wild animals you can't be entirely sure of how they will react, so the odds are that over the course of thousands of meetings, eventually there may be a bad one as in Timothy's case. However, in Alaska, especially certain areas and especially during the salmon runs, bears and humans are in close contact daily, and this close is not unheard of. The bears in these areas have learned their boundaries, and the humans in those areas know theirs as well. That doesn't mean one can get cocky, but there are surprisingly few "encounters" in these areas despite very close proximity. Also, a video like this tells you nothing of the cameraman's experience or training, nor what precautions or how many other people may be set up out of the camera's view.
Video title should be - hungry bears checking out the only meat in the area
You got to have balls of steel to be bold enough to be that close to those grizzly bears🐻😮. They are incredibly strong and can outrun you if you try to turn your back and run away.
Great footage Dylan! We miss these amazing adventures. Wishing we were there with you. Can’t wait to make it back there soon!
What a bruiser !!! Gorgeous pelt. He looks in his prime. Clean, no scars, healthy and busy with his girl. Awesome footage.
I'm safe on the couch and this video had me breathing heavy!
What amazes me most is how strong a bear is and how fast it can run especially for the size of it😮
Looks more like a Coastal Brown Bear. They are later than grizzlies but less aggressive because they have more food available. I guess this is from Katmai National Park.
Change of underwear after that one, been that close myself in AK and I SHAT myself.... LOL
Scary,but beautiful!
This is exactly like going to Panda Express. Sometimes you just aren't sure if your in the mood to eat and just leave.😢
I don't think so TIM
Beautiful!
Mommy, I think my Underoos need changing!
Mama bear: Don’t try nothing stupid, for your sake. People: We won’t, but could you please not come this close, for my sake?😅😅😅
Good thing there weren’t at Yellowstone, those tourists seem about as dumb as you can get around wildlife….
Awesome ❤
This is amazing
Bear must not have been hungry. Yikes.🙄
What stunning specimens they are!! A bit too close for comfort though!!
I think I crapped my pants
These two look amazing coming out from hibernation
🧸♥️
Hats off to the photographer
How?? Why??
Clearly someone’s pets 😮
These bears appear to have been around humans enough to not be bothered by their presence. At Katmai National Park people and bears are always crossing paths and many of the bears have been around humans from the time they were coy
That is bear country. That will always be the bear's country. If you are misguided enough to get that close in bear country, you will become food in the bear's country. The End.
At least two pairs of underwear that need changing
Yeah, that yellow hat sure scared the he'll out of them. Keep it up, one of these days you are going to get eaten .
They have pepper spray which is effective wind permitting.
I shit myself just watching….
MAMA bear
Lucky they already had breakfast.
Darwin was having fun... how stupid can anyone be....
Wow, That is really amazing too have happen. But for me at my age, I don't think I could've been able too stay that calm anymore. My hat goes off too the one's filming 📽️that stupendous moment's of OMFG what? are we too Do Now? The Good Lord must've had a say in what was going Down, at that Time. Thank You for Sharing. AMEN 🤞🤞🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🤞🤞🤔🤔🐻🐻
Interesting, you not likely to remain calm at your age, whereas for me, I know I wouldn't have been able to stay calm when I was younger. The gifts of age.
@@jhmumma You make an excellent point about my comment. I'D really have too experience an encounter similar too the one shown. Since it has actually been quite a number of year's ago where I had a Close encounter of that type. Although it was not as close as this guy's was?. So my whole thing is that I'm not sure of my own resolve or the ability too maintain my composure in a given situation of that nature anymore. IT'S a simply admittance of unless it did happen too Me? I couldn't Say what I'd Do, or would Happen now? Thanks for Sharing.
That is really close to a catastrophe it seems
I didn’t shit my pants, you did. 😬
Stupid is as stupid does.
Incredibly dangerous & extremely stupid.
Too close for comfort.
I hope they had extra underwear!
Nope!
Sorry. Not a smart thing to do. 🤦🏻♀️
It's highly unlikely the photographers put themselves directly in the bears path. There would be an immediate decision to not back away in the open area vs. standing their ground. Brave photographers.
@@paulalim1476 Do you enjoy photographs of wild animals? Because this is part of a wildlife photographers' job, you try to mitigate that risk but it's never eliminated. Maybe you should just stay in your house all day, but don't judge others for not being able to do the same. Period.
What was (probably) not shown in this whole encounter, is that there was a full can a bear spray pointed at that bears face. Or there should have been. That’s too close. Fun to watch on UA-cam, but not really an ideal situation.
stupid and dangerous for the bears.
NO . 🫣
y'all trying to see the inside of a brown bear as well
