Thank you for watching, we hope that this vlog helps with planning your trip to Alton Towers! We would love to know your thoughts on the food menus and prices down below?
These videos are very helpful! Thanks
Prices are awful & quality is dreadful now! Miss the way it used to be 😭 towers just isn't as magical anymore 💔
The magic is incredible ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ lovely vloooogs
Theme park worldwide I love you the videos ate so good
I love you Shawn and Charlotte
I found this video very useful as i’ve only managed three food outlets this year so far. I’ve genuinely never had to bring a packed lunch before but the food is so expensive and low quality now we might have to. Food this year is a very sad sight.
Loved the BRUTAL HONESTY here Shawn & Charlotte! Well presented too with the cutaways! More of these vlogs in some other parks would be great for people needing help deciding whether to bring food with them or not! 👍🏽👍🏽
Thank you!
I do think that the viewers do respect the honesty
Frankly I'd call it Dutch honesty. Not so much brutal...
:)
Loving the fact that 5 onions rings are £3.80 but you can get 2X 3 onion rings for £3.30 😂😂
I was so confused by that. I bet they're trying to take advantage of the fact that you have to select items to see their prices, so people who want 5 will likely never notice that the smaller portion is better value.
It really makes no sense!
Have a look at the drinks in the hotels, most of the time it’s cheaper to get 2 x singles or 2 x halves than a double or pint!
@@verona8144 At least prisoners don't have to pay for it!
"the company that do the food also do food for prisons", savage. Love it!! Great vlog, love the honesty x
the difference is that in prison the food is free! Though I am not sure that you could class many of these offerings as "food".
One of the things i love about travelling to an EU park is the food prices. I love being able to eat multiple times a day at parks like Energylandia, Europa Park, and even Port Aventura had great prices which i didn't expect, honestly. I will say that the last time i ate at Alton Towers was during the Mardis Gras street food event and the prices were very generous for what you got
You can also eat multiple times at Tokyo Disney Sea, it is cheap as well
This seems like such a good idea! I wish you could do these kind of videos for other major parks too (Disneyland Paris, Phantasialand, Europa-Park, Efteling) It would really help to plan that in advance.
Thanks for your suggestion!
It's a good job you've made people aware of these increases before they go as alot of struggling families will be saving for a while to visit for a weekend. It seems the new company have put the food to Disney prices when both the food and the park are not at disney standard!
"Struggling families" won't be going to Alton Towers - full stop! Though just because you're in a park doesn't mean you want to be ripped off (even further) with food prices
Top tip: Don't buy food at Alton Towers!
Sadly the quality has decreased and the price has increased. Such a shame!
Me and my family always bring our own lunch to Alton Towers even before the prices started to go up. But I do agree that things look more standard and basic and I hope Alton Towers improves it in the future. Hope you guys had a fun day!
I doubt it they only want your money
Thorpe Park blows alton towers out the water when it comes to there food selection and the great addition of doughnut time around the park! Great Vlog guys keep it up! ❤
On our last visit we ate lunch at Woodcutters and then had an evening meal at the Rollercoaster Restaurant. Generally the food there seemed decent enough - portion size was good and it didn't feel terrible value for money with an AP discount. The one negative was that Woodcutters was extremely slow to get food out - despite it not being very busy it still took over 45 minutes to get our meals.
A little hack we do is when we stay in the enchanted village for 2 nights we request a fridge in the room and bring a packet of ham, bread and butter and make a lunch for the park each day. Done it for years.
"Aramark also serve food in prisons"
Those poor prisoners
We tend to take a picnic with us these days - it’s mainly because with how limited park hours are we don’t really want to be wasting upwards of an hour of our day in a restaurant when we could be going on rides!
Back in the early 90’s, in the days of the Corkscrew and Blackhole, they used to sell these Slush drinks named after the coasters, which had a really nice tangy taste, but were more velvety in texture than a slush puppy. They were really nice, but I’ve never seen them anywhere
14:32 Got me there😂
Alton Towers... somewhere i used to call a second home! Haven't been since 2019 due to the park's changes in terms of flat rides, opening hours, and general closures across the park. Just returned from a trip to energylandia and my my, even though not a 'theme' park as such, just shows what having good operations and availablity can do to a park. I back the towers to the hills and just want them to do well :( Keep the videos coming!
Let’s hope things improve soon!
Visited Energylandia off the back of TPW videos... I'd rather plan a trip there atm living near London airports than go up to Alton. Cheap to eat there too!
It was great when they had proper KFC outlets at the park.
I miss KFC!
KFC MEGAWAVE
Having a laugh with those prices. Would take my own.
Honestly, it's pretty disgraceful to see that Merlin are trying to justify in excess of £10 for a simple hotdog meal. Especially in a time where so many families in the UK are struggling to scrape together the funds to take the kids to somewhere like AT for the day to temporarily escape some of that misery. I understand business and profit but this is just a huge lack of empathy for the public and pure greed from Merlin.
Edit: but ofcourse thank you guys for sharing this info, I absolutely love your content and the both of you are fantastic 😊
Thanks for watching and also sharing your thoughts!
Hey guys, been watching you guys for years, I always remember these annual food tours and they get me excited for when I go in the summer! Thank you so much for keeping me sane
Thank you!
Love these annual Towers food vlogs. I was there yesterday and managed to get my pensioner parents on a few coasters and Curse at AT....they hadn't visited for over 30 years and couldn't believe how the park looked today!......Ended up walking out of Woodcutters as its way to expensive now and had a 45 min wait at 12:15pm!! (on an off peak day). 👍
That’s awesome, I hope they enjoyed it!
Been waiting for this ever since arramark had taken over😳
Enjoy!
Hopefully a drop in food sales will make them realise what a mistake they are making, we haven't been yet this season but going on the 30th and having seen other comments/reviews etc about pricing and quality I doubt we will be eating in park anytime soon. There's been recent comments on the 100% beef and 100% chicken signage having been removed from the pizza/pasta place.
Captive audience or not nobody should be happy paying over the odds for sub par food offerings, you do right taking a lunch box.
3x Onion Rings for £1.65
5x Onion Rings for £3.80
The math ain't mathing 😂
Alton Towers Food Vlog 2023 - Menus, Prices & Where To Eat! love louis shirley
How could the food quality possibly get worse. That's the real magic at the park now
Absolutely love this video missing the towers so badly in the off season
Thanks for going through the vegetarian options too at parks. It is very helpful to hear recommendations for the area too. I would much rather sit down to eat outside park hours when the park has long queues and slow service.
I am very disappointed with AT/Merlin for going with Aramark. It is madness that they are allowing Arrramark to serve standard food at such extreme high prices. It really shows an awful profiteering attitude and a total disregard of their visitors.
It is good to have you share our interests.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts
Thank you SO much for showing Little Explorers Lunch Box!
We're hoping to take our 4yo in the summer holidays, so it's nice to know what we need to budget for a little belly! 🥰
Have a good time!
14:39 Aramark also serves food on college campuses, sporting events for concession stands and more. I believe Aramark runs the Chick Fil A stores for on campus locations where I am from.
Food was rancid at BK by dungeons.
Won’t be eating on park again until changes are made.
Sorry to hear that
@@ThemeParkWorldwide Honestly I’ve had better burgers at fun fairs.
We need the golden food years back, McDonald’s or Burger King.
I used to love the Courtyard Tavern BBQ in Mutiny Bay back in the 2010’s! It was a real shame when they closed that. We used to get the The Big BBQ Sharing Platter and it fed all 3-4 of us! It was £20 and there were ribs, corn, potato waffles, sausages, chicken, onion rings and salad. It was always fab!
I just wish they'd bring back KFC and Burger King etc...a price increase for knock off versions of those foods? Fries for £3.25 is a disgusting price 😭😭😭 I hate cold food so I can't really take a packed lunch when I go so it looks like they got me also that fact that you can't remove things from the food on the tablet menus is annoying as i am a picky eater so I don't have mayo or cheese on my burgers 😭anyway, another good video!
Yeah, I'd much rather have name brands back - at least you know what you're getting with them! I'm also a fussy eater/autistic and I feel like I'm a nuisance asking to pay at a manned till, but you can't customise your orders to remove cheese etc. on the screens so I have no choice!
@@kittikoko I agree, I’d rather pay that amount of money for a branded company and I am too autistic hopefully they’ll update the screens to be able to remove things because at McDonald’s and kfc and that you can remove items. If not at least they still have the mini kiosk ones dotted about that have people on tills. That’s a reason why I don’t order food off Uber eats and deliveroo because you can’t customise the burgers and that haha
Alot of ppl have taken hotdogs in a flask of hot water and take pack of buns so still a walm meal to save some penny's
What a great idea! This is great to know before you visit 🍔
Thanks for watching!
Sadly, I don’t think the “discount” will be of much use to merlin holders for much longer, it’s sad to see really, perhaps they’ll listen to feedback and change it for next season!
Great idea guys showing all the food places and prices enjoyed the catch up with nemesis yesterday as well thank you lovelies love Charlotte's top as well xx
Ah that's where the jacket spuds are! Brilliant thanks both x
Don't know if you noticed the very worrying change on the windows of both the Burger Kitchen and Just Chicken... Both had signs saying "100% pure beef" and "100% chicken breast" respectively, but on both of them the "100%" bit has been removed! Not a good sign.
Not good!
I haven't been in years it very expensive
I live in Ellesmere shropshire so would have to get a taxi. But its a wonderful place to visit never get bored
woooooow incredible food vloooogs
I remember when the burger kitchen used to be McDonald's and it was awesome. Clearly alton towers suffered because everyone ate there and kicked them out. At least with fast food chains you know the average price beforehand. These catering companies are dreadful and make an absolute fortune.
Would love to see one of these for thorpe park before i go
This is really helpful guys, thank you. Crazy how they don't have menus/pricing for each outlet on the official website!
Thanks for showing us the vegan options as well 👍🏼
Thanks both for that video we are going alton towers tomorrow so we know what too expect 😊
Thank you for the vlog and your honest views
Thank you, this gave me a rough idea as to what to expect when I take my family later in the year
14:39 what a cut Shawn 😂😂😂😂
Would love to see this for thorp park
Always brought a packed lunch to park but a nice cuppa and a few chips to share with a butty can be always a nice touch. I do feel this new company seem to just be nothing but corporate profiteers, no thought for the working class family at all! Also slightly off about the drinks thing: 15 quid for a bottle then 9 quid for the pleasure of bringing it back on another day if you want soft drinks and also reduced water fountains.. this is not a good thing in my opinion, especially when summer hits and there are gonna be families spending their hard earned money their with dehydrated or hungry kids. Great information guys, keep this up x
My dad met you he had the grey jumper and also it was very fun !
Lol it looks like the frog fountain water is coming out of Shawns ear 😅
It does 😂
Love that you do these videos!
On a personal note - Went to the roller coaster restaurant myself last month for the first time ever. Watched tons of videos online from yourself showing it off and the menus and I can't lie with the changes they've made to the menu I found myself a bit disappointed. Still a great restaurant but the menu is nothing like what it was in the past. Also not sure how long its been like this but ordering is now from your phone and not on a separate screen.
We’ll be checking it out again soon!
Also in the other parks there’s no sign but chessy under 3s eat free at pizza pasta and Legoland it’s under4. So that’s great when toddlers don’t eat a lot but it’s only at pizza pasta.
Thanks for doing this guys. I usually take my own food. Just get a tea or coffee while I am there. xx
I'VE BEEN WAITING!!! WOOOO
Enjoy!
We always tend now to go to the Alton Londis, i think its a good option to get the fresh sandwiches from there as they are done daily with great quality, which you dont normally get from a local shop.
We have eaten at the alton bridge hotel and it was indeed top quality so totally agree with you bigging them up...on a similar theme have you tried bentleys fish and chips a 2 minute walk from bpb..if not you should..we pop out of the park every time to eat there..from tim and mandie who met you at pleasure beach express recently 😉
Thorpe Park did a great buffet breakfast, only used it as part of the bed and breakfast deal.
We went to woodcutters in March on a pretty quiet afternoon and waited a full 60 minutes for a wrap 😖 I’m not an impatient person but it wasn’t busy and it was a very basic meal that took so long! 😭
Aramark supply food for my school and it’s awful. Used to love Just chicken but this year it’s been ruined🤮 Also, in Just chicken you can apply a discount without an annual pass on the self order screens. We tried letting management know but they ignored our email so it’s their loss. You can’t customise your order on the screens either, you must go to the counter to take stuff off
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. The prices in Just Chicken have increased massively!
I love the food videos and I would love to see you all review more food! You all are so wonderful!
Thank you
Great vlog! We used to it at towers quite often and have switched to brining are own thus year due to prices and decrease in quality. Just chicken no longer seem to do the sharing bucket which we used to get, it used to be amazing value. The one food venue I did really rate this year is the one outside Curse, the theming is brilliant, if only it could all be like that!
I absolutely love shawn and Charlotte
Thank you!
No McDonalds, no KFC, no Burger King, no Pizza Hut.
What happened to the Alton Towers food of the past? The quality and the price have both suffered over the past few years.
We would like to see them bring these brands back if they are planning to keep food outsourced
Thank you for doing this helps what to bring spend
Thank you for watching!
thank you so much for the detailed information around the food including us annoying vegans :) it does help a lot with planning! i am always very thankful when everything is covered!
Thanks for watching!
Can’t believe some of these prices!! 5 onion rings is more expensive than buying two lots of 3 😭🤣 daylight robbery!! Great video though guys! Have an amazing weekend ❤️
Thank you!
I just get a kids meal, does the job. In fact, my burger was bigger than my friends last year who ordered an adult meal 😂
I know inflation etc. plays a part in this but I truly believe that Merlin are now pricing families out of experiencing everything Towers has to offer. £12-15 for meals from Just Chicken is insane, you pay nowhere near that in KFC! It’d put a real downer on my day out paying these prices after paying for park entry, parking, petrol for the journey etc.😢
Unfortunately so
What happens if you want to pay with cash now you order at the screens?
There’s still a few tills available
So glad I'm watching this before i go this weekend 😢 note to self take your own food 😂
When I went with my family we had a great picnic on the grass next to the towers. Our food was around £15 at most consisting of rolls, little cakes and crisps. If we were to go to the chicken place we'd be paying around £60-£70 for all of us. A picnic is the way to go! Very Chill and much cheaper!! Thanks for the video! :)
We love taking a picnic now!
Love to idea of park food tours having their own video! Brilliant!
Thank you! We’ve done this for a few years now at Alton Towers!
Yes…I’m still catching up on all the vids so I hadn’t seen them yet.😁
Very useful, thank you :) !!
Thanks for watching!
Now you are normally very positive so you must feel very strongly about the issues you are seeing at Alton Towers. We have never been too impressed with catering at any Merlin parks and had given them a miss for a few years, so when we visited Chessington and Thorpe Park in the past few months with Aramark in charge we were pretty impressed, both at Azteca Chessington, breakfast and dinner ( on Park Jacket potato was just ok) and a very good lunch at Vibes in Thorpe Park. Prices seemed OK when compared to motorway service areas but clearly you have seen a drop in quality and value, hopefully with time Aramark will get food ops at all parks to a good standard, maybe Mack or Portaventura could come and sort it out both have great food offerings
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. We really want to see Alton Towers do better!
LMAO, so to eat gluten-free my options are the whopping three things listed at 18:35. And they're made water refills harder to access! Cheers, Merlin. 🙄
The Bridge House is a good call though. Going off their website, almost everything has a GF option so I might have to give them a try next time I visit AT.
the brown boxes at BK are temporary while the branded ones are being updated, i asked a staff member and apparently the bird in a bun burgers didn't even fit in the burger kitchen boxes, and also the donut burger did not fit either i got one and they had to squash it together when the menu first updated, went back last week and had the brown boxes.
Great Food Vlog! They have really good food at Alton Towers!
I had food from The Burger Kitchen a few years back and it was completely fine, but this year it was very bad and soured the day. And also it costed an arm and a leg. Will probably bring a packed lunch next time, or get a McDonald's breakfast on the way there!
I always go pizza&pasta by the mine train because it’s a good price for what you get
We were there today!! We were looking out for you guys but unfortunately missed you! Damn !!!
We hope you had a good day!
You should have bought everything and set up a plastic table like rate my takeaway! That would get AT looking.
Was massively concerned when I heard Aramark were taking over. Having experienced their food and service in the past, I knew the way it would be heading. Shame to see the worst fears coming to fruition.
Unfortunately so
The overall condition and presentation of Alton Towers is very much sub par, and now it looks like it has the cuisine to match. How embarrassing.
Unfortunately so
Thank you for this video! We are going in September and have alway bought food there. However, it seems to have shot up in price since we were last there in 2021! Packed lunch and maybe an ice cream treat will be our choice I think!
We went on the Roller Coaster resturant last week and i noticed that it has changed from your vlogs but the food and drinks were still really nice
Thank you for doing this video. Hopefully with the influence you both have, AT will take note of your feedback. I've only eaten in the burger kitchen and RCR this season. Burger kitchen was OK, nothing special, but very expensive even with AP discount. The rollercoaster restaurant however was very disappointing. The staff didn't seem to care about customers, food quality has gone down, prices have gone up. We had to ask where our food was on each course as one meal would arrive and the othernwould disappear into the abyss. If I were you, don't both visiting at all!
Let’s hope things improve
Classic Alton Towers. Lowering standards, cutting costs and corners whilst making the consumer (us) pay for it. They half arse just about everything at this park, it's embarrassing. Numerous bad decisions year in year out. I went for the first time since 2003 last year in May and just found it an all round lack-luster, overpriced mediocre to bad day out.
Let’s hope things improve soon!
Being coeliac, the majority of UK parks and seemingly some of the parks in Europe (eg Phantasialand) have almost zero choice. So whilst prices are going up (and some of those prices are an insult), I have to take my own food each time; my partner is dairy intolerant so is in a similar position (with most places assuming no-dairy means vegan). But when did £3.80 for five onions rings or a portion of fries become acceptable? I might understand if the money was going to park improvements.
But it’s a moot point - Alton Towers has almost nothing for anyone with unavoidable dietary requirements. And boy I miss those donuts! 😢
I always bring my own food since I am a picky eater but damn these prices are insane like £13 for a burger meal is way too much
We used to eat much more at the park than we do now. We enjoy taking our packed lunches!
Great vlog. I'll carry on picnicking. 👍
14:34 14:38 great really makes me want to eat there 😂😂
Charlotte is so prettttttyyyyyyyy 🫶🏽🫶🏽
Awesome Video Guys
Aramark have slipped up on the self order machines, no one checks you have a MAP so you can add the discount even if your not a pass holder lol 😂
Great food Vlog Shawn and Charlotte
Thanks for covering the vegan options, and why charge more for vegan options, well, simple because they can.
very good video Charlotte and Shawn from the food tour around Alton Towers! In this food vlog, we check out all of the different places to eat across the theme park in 2023 along with showing menus and prices for each of the outlets. We also talk about changes to food across Alton Towers for this year with a different company running various restaurants across the resort. keep the good videos coming on the channel.
