So for the whole show I was looking forward to Katara and Zuko becoming a couple and that moment where they kissed. Then that moment came. But there was no kiss. And they also didnt become a couple. Rogue Skywalker The attraction and intimacy Katara and Zuko have for each other in the show is based on Twin Flame unconditional love, understanding, and acceptance. The beautiful thing about it is that love like that doesn't have to be romantic, it can be based on a deep friendship, although it certainly can be romantic as well. There is definitely something Katara and Zuko share that is only shared amongst them. They can be fully open to one another. The head writer of Avatar himself said that no one understood Katara like Zuko and vice versa. This is proven in the Southern Raiders when he supports her decisions no matter what, while Aang tries to make Katara feel guilty about her feelings, and also when Zuko calls her mother a brave woman, which bravery is the Water Tribe equivalent of honor in the Fire Nation. So their connection and level of understanding is canon even if their romance was never developed further in the canon timeline. There are a few fanfictions that do delve into Katara and Zuko's connection if it did turn romantic so they aren't all teenage angst and hormones hahahahaha!

One does not simply not find Zutara on fanfiction.net. It's like impossible. I love both ships, but I think it's safe to say that the majority of the fandom is Zutara over Kataang, at least from fanfics and pictures.
While I understand why people want them to be a thing. They just don't fit all that well. Katara is more of a mother figure. While Zuko already has a mother so he doesn't need another one. But Aang is need more by Katara more than anything. They make a much better fit. But far as looking good together I understand the appeal.
