I don’t know where you guys are getting your numbers from in terms of what most tracking teams charge. I don’t know any team in the Midwest that changes what was mentioned. Make no mistake, whether a team charges or doesn’t charge, dose not dictate how good or bad that team is. Here’s the truth - Hundreds of teams work off of tips only and are top tear tracking teams. I also know a few trackers that charge a rather large amount just show up that can’t track a lick. The price a guy charges does not guarantee his/her abilities.
I wonder if the breed of dog matters in the way a dog finds the deer. My Bavarian Mountain hound is trained to track the deers interdigital gland (in its foot) which a wounded deer secretes when wounded. I train her with NO blood since most calls come in when a hunter has completely lost blood. I Love the show guys! Keep up the good work
I myself go a military working dog handbook, but i have bulldogs so i am just studieng the books. By the way i am 13. And i love these types of shows especially this one it was very interesting
A good channel to watch is Shane Simpson's "Callie Chronicles". He does a great job and talks through a lot of the same type scenarios that John hasn't. Also some states do not allow dog tracking at all. See if John will discuss that and if they (the tracking groups) are trying to push through the legislatures to change the laws. Yes, the way John trains his dogs is by trailing the scent of blood. That's why he believes the bloodhound is the best for his style of tracking.
