Totally agree with you my friend as I believe that this will be my last Christmas 🎄 with my wife were she knows who I am so it is going to be very hard with my reading 📖 prayers and blessings for you and your husband and your beautiful children and families love your Aussie family friend John ❤❤❤
I really resonated with slowing down your reading. I want to do the same, as I have enjoyed and want to enjoy some bigger books and finish up series as well. Looking forward to your series blogs. I loved your Throne of Glass blogs and watched the first one along with reading the first book. That is a series I need to get back to!
That's a very good goal to slow down and really absorb each book. I don't typically have a goal of how many books to read as I'm retired and an empty nester so I read a lot. This year I hope to keep a reading journal and focus on writing my novel.
Oh, Sarah, this video speaks to me! I so admire you adjusting your reading life as your goals change! I love reading blogs and can't wait to see you binge through some series. Happy Reading!
Great video as usual Sarah and I love your 2025 goals! For me i’m going on a book buying ban unless it’s part of an open series, reading only what i own otherwise. I’d also like to read 1 big book (500+ pages), 3 paranormal, 3 YA, 5 from an open series, 12 short stories and 12 smaller books (150 - 240 pages). My overall book goal is 40 for the year. I’ve read 32 this year or I will have done by the year’s end. Good luck for 2025!
I start my Goodreads goal very low and increase it over the year as I surpass it. That way, I'm open to reading longer books, life getting in the way etc. The only solid goal I have is doing the Buzzwordathon by Books and Lala, and I'm not even doing it in order.
Some goals that I am continuing into 2025 are 1) Read 1 Agatha Christie book a month, 2) Shrink my physical TBR, 3) Do not buy any new books unless I have the intentions of picking them up ASAP. (Secondhand books I don’t have as much restrictions around). New goal for the year is to try out StoryGraph.
I agree with your audiobook philosophy. I say I need to meet characters on physical paper, but I can continue the story on audio once I am settled into the flow.
Sounds like good goals. For me, I'm not changing to much from 2024. 25 books a month, mostly books I have won on Goodreads this year. Then I will try the 25 in 25 banned books challenge.
This year I dnfed a lot of books and will not meet my Goodreads goal for the first time. I am going to change from reading mostly new releases and lower my goal.
Hey. I also read for enjoyment only. I never make a number goal, but this coming year I'm doing an A to Z challenge and I'm going to complete a few series myself. I think i finished 3 series this year (3 separate books and two duologies). I have so many series.
I'm finding that I need to reread early series books, too - I need to pick a few and focus on completing them this year. Krys' Corner is doing a fun year-long series readathon that I think will help me put that more front of mind. Looking forward to your arc videos. Jordyn at Sorry Booked Solid does that sometimes and I like that early peek at new titles coming out. These are great goals! Your content is always so enjoyable and I look forward to what's to come.
I also need to slow down. I overestimated how many books I could read this year and I’m gonna end up 25-30 books shy of 80. I’m planning to scale back next year as well.
Hi Sarah My Goodreads Reading Challenge for 2025 is to read 20 Books. I love taking my time with Reading my Books. I only read one book at a time or try to anyways. Good Luck with your Goals for next year. Take Care & Happy Reading ❤️🤗🙏📚📖🔰❤️
My reading goal for 2025 is to work on total pages read rather than number of books read. Why should a 600-page book carry the same value as a 175-page middle grade read? I reread the first four books of the All Souls “trilogy” this summer when the release of book five was announced. What an incredibly good time that was! Also, there is a very different reading experience between reading family-centered series and epic-sized fantasy reads. I enjoy both types of series very much. Bottom line, I wish you great joy in reading for quality rather than quantity. Reading is a hobby, not a race. I look forward to your new videos this year. It sounds like you will have a great time in 2025!
@@sandyh8755 I track my page count and book total. One approach you could take is decide a page count that you consider an average-sized book for yourself. Like 250 pg or 350 pg… Then multiply that by how many books you want to read in a month/year. And that could be your page count goal.
@ The way I plan on doing it is to look up the page-count for the book, along with the publication date, on Goodreads, StoryGraph, or manufacturer’s catalogs and use their page totals info for ebooks or audiobooks. I don’t read physical books due to the fact I have a little bit of arthritis in my hands and holding them cause pain. About half the books I “read” are audiobooks. The rest are e-books. I have no desire to track hours read. Again, I use page totals from GR or SG, for all book formats and always use this number. The only exception would be if I stop reading the book before the end. Then, I calculate total page-count minus the pages I did not read. My numbers may not be exact, but they are consistent. Let me add that I also try to look up the data for the exact volume/publishing date I read. It was surprising to see how the numbers change depending on the volume, or edits done to more recent editions of classic books to edit out language that is offensive today. Also, page-counts change based on the size of the font used. This sounds like a long process, but I do it automatically now and it feels like a normal part of the reading process to me. Hope that helps.
I will have read 100 books by the end of this year! I can’t believe I can say I did it but next year I don’t need to repeat it. I will probably lower it to 50.
I'm focusing on Amazon Prime First Reads. I pick the limit every month, get excited when I see my choices and over the years I believe ive read a few short stories. One First Read a month 😁 My second focus is to read the Indie Booktube authors Books that I've purchased. As of a couple days ago I had 11. Again, one a month 😁
This year my Goodreads goal was 84 but I want to read bigger books (500+ pages) and so I am planning to have a lower number. I focused a lot on numbers this year and next year I don't want to do that, I want to simply read and enjoy it. I think I need to stop watching booktubers that read more than 8 books a month because it makes me feel like I have to read that many. I want to work on getting caught up and finishing series that I have started. I have 26 series that I have started so my goal will be to focus on 10 of them.
I took a class on children's classic literature and enjoyed it so much. My goal is to make every third book I read a children's classic.
I love binging series. It's fun to stay with the same characters through multiple books.

It’s never a bad thing to be intentional about what you’re acquiring, if we could we would have them all! 😁
I lowered my reading goals too. I also want to start scrapbooking again. I have a retreat scheduled to Colorado. I miss that!

I’m excited to see your blogs!
Great goals for the new year! Many blessings and a Merry Christmas.
Love it! The bingeing series goal is absolutely a great approach to series. And I’d love to have your reviews on 2025 ARC’s.

I love the idea of binging series.

Yes to savoring the read. Also I need to read down my BOTM I've purchased

I have 3 goals - keep my TBR under 200 😂, make time to read every day, and set my goal at 52 books!

I want to read more books that I own, and also read down my BOTM, and get into some fantasy series. ❤

I have thought about a reading Page goal but am not sure exactly how to go about it. Would you share how you are doing this?
