This will become more severe as people age. When I was young, I would always have music playing at home, in the car, trying to fall asleep in bed. But now I'm in my 50s, I prefer silence a lot of the time to be focused on my thoughts or just be in the moment. If I listen to something, it's usually an ebook or podcast, because I'm actually gaining new information/knowledge from them.
I'm in my late 30s and I don't listen to music much anymore. My internal thoughts are entertaining enough. My neighbour blasts music from his vehicle so loud my windows rattle.
Being multi talented can be tricky, as you don't focus on one thing. But I think all your work is genius. And each talent brings attention to your other talents. I found your music through Arab Dad. 👍🏼

Yeah I think as long as we are all cognizant of the fact that some of us really need that background noise to function, and some of us can't function with it, and we're compassionate with each other, we can all get past it. If someone is riding passenger with me, I make sure to let them know first that I usually listen to loud music on the drive, and I ask them to tell me if the music is too loud for their comfort, or if they need a break, or want to put on some of their own stuff.

Really appreciate your take on playing music constantly. I'm kind of addicted to it (not as much as during lockdown, it was getting so bad back then), but I try to avoid it as much as I can when it isn't necessary. It really is refreshing when you allow yourself to acknowledge all the auditory details (whether they be natural or man-made) that make your everyday life subtly more interesting.
Totally relatable on the wide set of skills. Sometimes I feel like a failure as a musician because I can perform moderately in too many different things, from a handful of instruments to recording, mixing, producing etc. So I feel impostor syndrome and have to remind myself it was my circumstances that brought me to this point and there's value to having my skills wide instead of narrow.

Wow , this particular Q&A surprisingly still revealed some stuff about you i didn't expect. It was pretty intimate 😅. Thanks for being so honest and personal. The thing about you overplaying it a little bit to trst the waters at a first meeting, was pretty insightful. Although i myself am not like that, i can use it to understand better if others act weird in a first meeting. The voice of a person being an essential part of liking/ disliking a person did strung a chord with me. Adding my emphatic agreement to your opinion regarding the seeming pervasive need for blasting music…there *is* music in Nature, and it soothes my soul. Out in the woods, the sound of a breeze approaching that touches skin and hair as it draws the eye up to shivering leaves overhead makes me quietly happy. I will never understand why people even bother to go out into nature if they are the sort to bring loud music and a miasma of overpowering body spray with them (and polluting my experience while they are at it).
Also, one of the first things I would do when visiting my mother was to ask if she would mind turning off the ever present tv news in the background. If we are talking, you’re not watching and listening to it anyway, so why have the distraction and noise level that needs to be spoken over?!? On a related note, why have harsh artificial lighting when you have windows to allow natural light in? Then again, I’m diagnosed autistic😁
