Oh my gosh. I think I just heard the culmination of the sum total of human existence, emotion, and achievement compacted into 5 mins and 32 secs. This is the equivalent of dancing about architecture. I loved it! Thanks!
There are so many cultures around the world that have a variation of throat singing. We get so used to thinking Western music is the only way to go. It's so good to remember traditions.
There is something within her that connects me with nature on a deeper level that seems to defy all that I know. I am overwhelmed by the strangeness of the sounds which seem to come from the soul of mother nature, herself.
There is something very primal about Tanya's throat singing. She moved several of us to tears a few years back at Vancouver Island Music Festival, where she is returning this July.
I came here from watching videos about Tuvan throat singing. I was sort of familiar with Inuit throat singing before, but I had never heard a whole performance of it. I will say that while I totally respect and admire what she is doing, it imbues me with a deep anxiety to listen to it. I don't find it therapeutic for me at all in the same way I do the Tuvan throat singing.
i know some finnish female singers who do this kind of chants, i don't know if there they have a similar tradition or they had taken fron the inuit, but it's very interesting the similitude :)
+Arthur Grande, the Inuit! This styling is very personal, and non-traditional, but beautiful nonetheless. There are several videos on UA-cam of the traditional songs. Check them out! :)
I always imagine how hard this would be to learn and what training she must have to make the sound she does. The sound is so primal and sounds strange to us who are used to "traditional" music. I often wonder if it hurts her throat at all. i first saw part of a performance on TV and found it moving and strange. As I said it's a very primal sound....put to music though as it was for the show "Arctic Air" it can be very beautiful too.
+alonzoai you're not alone. It sounds like a gremlin climaxing, saying hitler at 50 secs. Then starts up again constipated with a fever +Akhil Singh yh that burp was struggling. Ppl start watching from 3:55 it's less distressing there. Interesting how different things suit different people. I didn't like this but others seemed to. Fair play.
I was listening at this without looking at the video and couldn´t stop laughing because I thought it sounded like some sort of goblin porn... Still pretty itneresting
I just heard about throat singing and was checking some videos out, when I came across this performance. I had to turn it off as it sounded like she is having sex for most of it. Kind of disturbing sounding , but then, that is just because I'm not used to it. I have heard others that I think are just beautiful.
kinda interesting, overtone singing brought me here but these sounds looks like orgasm and burp at the same time.. if I go down the street and I try to do this I'm pretty sure people would call ambulance to take me to a mental institution!
I'm finding this quite ridiculous and I'm a very open-minded man. There are some things that are just asking too much of my personal level of audio comfort... this is that.
(alonzoai) you not the only one.... She's doing it all WRONG!!! thats not how inuit people throat sing. That's like fake kind. You have to do it from the deep down inside you!
I guess if you can't sing, you can always groan and grunt, and hope that someone will pay you for it. I sure couldn't call this 'singing' or 'music'. Political correctness has brought us to this. LOL!!!

it was sooo amazing to see her live. I had goose bumps and I have to say - I shed a tear and that was a first...
There is something within her that connects me with nature on a deeper level that seems to defy all that I know. I am overwhelmed by the strangeness of the sounds which seem to come from the soul of mother nature, herself.
+Gui Serbee you get it, yes.
Amazing! Beautiful. A perfect example that our body and voice are the perfect instrument. Gifted we are.

this is some serious next level shit
This is beautiful.

i know some finnish female singers who do this kind of chants, i don't know if there they have a similar tradition or they had taken fron the inuit, but it's very interesting the similitude :)
love it
thank you tanya for bearing your heart and soul
awesome. beautiful.
when i warm up my voice to do throat basses for beatboxing, sounds kind of like this..
awesome! i thought i love it more when there is more then one person, but solo sounds so amazing.
Fascinating, but throat singing sounds like it could be absolute murder on the vocal chords after a while.
I haven't laughed so much in AGES!! It's very intriguing and expressive but hilarious too!
Tout simplement extraordinaire... émouvant... captivant... lyrique... tragique... joyeux... éthéré... primitif... céleste... tellurique...
+Pierre “Pierry” Coulombe oui!!! tout!!!!
Luv the fuckin noises
Holy SHIT....Now I can't go to sleep...even with the lights on..
Esta mujer me sorprende y también Cumbre Tajin por ahi me enteré que la traeran.
Being able to beat box, I can find to appreciate this type of throat singing!
Very interesting!
What culture uses this style??
+Arthur Grande, the Inuit! This styling is very personal, and non-traditional, but beautiful nonetheless. There are several videos on UA-cam of the traditional songs. Check them out! :)

very cool.
strangely entertaining
This is so strange but beautiful and heart warming
I kind of like it
It's like two people singing
+Kenneth Jeffrey traditionally there are always two women! nice observation.
Imagine waking up at 3 am to a call only to hear this on the other line......... (loads shotgun and stares at door waiting for monster.)
I typically like throat singing, but found this to be just really strange.
Браво !
Imagine her as your wife with that voice at 3am waking you up: "bring me a glass of water.....Peeeter"
I'm not sure if I'm missing something here. Is there an overtone somewhere? Or...I dont even know.
Can someone please tell me what this is and why the heck she is doing it.
çok güzel doğal sesler. asia gırtlağı .:)
+alonzoai you're not alone. It sounds like a gremlin climaxing, saying hitler at 50 secs. Then starts up again constipated with a fever

"Take your weapon. Strike me down with all of your hatred and your journey towards the dark side will be complete!"
I am open to any culture and anything anyone is interested in doing and sharing but I think I may respectfully leave this one alone
harder than it looks
Oh my god this is the girl from ancestors. that song creeps me
Now i know who Did the voices to the exorcist! !
Terrific. Astounding.
OMG I can't. She's good and all, but I literally spat all over my keyboard
suddenly its sounds like her voice is all over medulla
I was listening at this without looking at the video and couldn´t stop laughing because I thought it sounded like some sort of goblin porn...
Still pretty itneresting
She sounds like my yorkie when he gets over excited.
AND I THOUGHT MY WIFE WAS THE ONLYONE WHO MADE THOSE SOUNDS
WHEN WE HAVING SEX! LOL
so in etwa hört sich das an wenn ich schlafe
Skrillex Throat Remix!!!
Call the exorcist!!!!!!
@alonzoai No, you aren't.
reminds me to the voice of the simpsons
If Maria Sharapova and Nathan Explosion had a love child...
+drhandle i actually laughed outloud.
Çirgilçin-Kongurey - Tuva Türkleri Gırtlak Müziği. ua-cam.com/video/cIoJRXm9tdA/v-deo.html

The statue is disappointed with your performance hehe
no your not alone... lol :/
not a fan ... Sounds like my cat heaving up a furball
As long as she doesn't use these sounds during sex....
Bi sıkıntısı var herhalde :'(
interessante, se lo facessi io perderei la voce dopo 2 minuti....
This is funny
kinda interesting, overtone singing brought me here but these sounds looks like orgasm and burp at the same time.. if I go down the street and I try to do this I'm pretty sure people would call ambulance to take me to a mental institution!
+Atlantideos yes, most likely. doing this as a party trick is very interesting and fun though!
tht burp is taking a long time to come out
I'm finding this quite ridiculous and I'm a very open-minded man. There are some things that are just asking too much of my personal level of audio comfort... this is that.
Its kinda ok when watching the pretty girl but turnoff her face and it's like the exorcist
Some demons in dat one derr.
oh man found the dark side of the interweb again
Oink!
Incredibly weird.
She's off her meds again!
looks like a crazy person to me
This sounds like beastiality...
What in the actual fuck
If you've ever been around a pug, this is not that cool.
Schmarrn
(alonzoai) you not the only one.... She's doing it all WRONG!!! thats not how inuit people throat sing. That's like fake kind. You have to do it from the deep down inside you!
+ziad ghazzawi this is a personal interpretation of the culture. culture inspired! :)
there are several traditional songs available as well.
wtf
W...T...F...? This was honestly the most horrible noise I have ever heard. It was like a demon bulldog having sex.
She has a beautiful voice, but throat singing just sounds ugly.
This is not throat signing, this is grunting.
only a drunk chug would like this music.
I guess if you can't sing, you can always groan and grunt, and hope that someone will pay you for it. I sure couldn't call this 'singing' or 'music'. Political correctness has brought us to this. LOL!!!
what a fuck is going on here !!!! this is not music pls
