Backdoor Shootout | Team Snapt4 Wins

- The Backdoor Shootout is a Pipeline specialty event with a goal to have a surf contest in the best waves and conditions possible. The format lets everybody surf the same amount of time. Waves are scored on a 12 point scale and the aim is to get the highest 3 wave total. This year was awesome becuase they let WSL athletes compete in it (usually not allowed) so the feild was more stacked then ever!
Most surf contests only focus on individuals but this event they also score your TEAM. Logan "Chucky" Dulien threw together TEAM SNAPT4 this year which included event winner Mason Ho, Snapt4 hero Barron Mamiya, Snapt4 heaviest pipe waves riden Benji Brand and easily the best human on earth Parker Coffin. The boys did damage together, worked as a team and took home the Gold!

Why is Mason the best surf vlogger AND the best surfer? All of his clips, he puts the waves, his surfboards and his friends first. Masons post wave claims are always coming from a place of appreciation, never ego. Mason personifies The old adage that the surfer who is having the most fun is the best surfer in the water. You can tell he was heavily dosed on 70's surf movies growing up. That's a big part of the vibe pie, for sure. For all of its foibles and naiveté the 70's were a very special time in surfing. I'm glad I'm just old enough to have a memory of experiencing it. And I really enjoy seeing it resurrected by Mason & Co.

Mas is just Royalty in the water wherever he goes. Such an incredible back hand, cross hand rail grab. Style. This looks like a long board compared to your other sticks in the quiver, yet you still do airs and other moves that leaves your peers with their jaws dropped. Once again, Family Ho proves who are tops in the islands. Mahalo!!!!
