Hi Myke and Tonya, I am so sorry you lost a egg laying chicken. I remember my Grandpa sitting out at night waiting for what ever it was trying to get his chickens, He had Ameranican Bress for their eggs and meat. Love you guys God bless you and until next time take care of yourself.
Having the new fencing will also allow you to repair and amend your soil to grow better grass for your goats when they do return to that pasture, I think it’s a win-win. I can’t wait to see the new babies. They’ll be here soon enough! Sorry for the loss of your chicken.
Myke & Tonya - I'm sorry 😔 you lost a good layer. Be careful & on the lookout for the Hawk to come back after this chicken is all eaten. Its looking for a quick easy meal !! Can't wait to see baby goats start popping out 😅 Having baby withdrawals again!! I'm sorry i don't have any Grandbabies that little anymore 😔 I absolutely love babies 🥰 Hope y'all have a great weekend Blessings on Fowler Family 🙏🙏🌹 Love 🌻 from Apex NC 💜
Sorry about your favorite chicken. Any loss on the farm is a big loss with time and food invested in them. It happens on all the farms and aerial birds are hard to beat. 😟😩❤
Move to a new paddock at least every third day. Do not return until forages are COMPLETELY recovered / regrown and the roots are recovered. Goats prefer higher forages-weedy stuff. Your place is way too "well groomed" for goats to eat their favorite foods-doc, multiflora rose, bushy plants. One February a hawk got into the chicken hoop house and killed a hen. The hawks are typically at their hungriest in February according to the PA Game officer.
It's hard when your son leaves for the military I know just keep praying God answers prayer I prayed for 12 years when my son was gone . God will get you threw
Sad about a chicken. The does that did not get bred, is it possible they just did not go into a heat cycle? I thought the bucks would just breed each one that was in a heat cycle. Are you saving any eggs to incubate? Or is it time to buy more chicks? GOD BLESS and many hugs from me.
I'm not good at identifying raptors but just yesterday I had one sitting on top of a oak tree in my yard scaring my birds thankfully they took cover under bushes and were safe but it was a large sucker for sure it could take my chickens and I have large orpingtons
Sorry about your chicken... I lost so many that I bought a huge shelter with a cover. Tonya looks great on Hulk. She really enjoys it like Brooke on Cogg Hill.
I watched a hawk grab a squirrel out of a tree and took it into the yard. It spent the next 45 minutes disemboweling it and then flew away. It didn’t even care when people walked by on the sidewalk 20 feet away.
MYKE THE VET THE OTHER DAY TOLD GRANDPA DOSS FARMS TO STOP FEEDING HIS GOATS GRAIN. ALL THEY NEED IS HAY AND TO GRAZE FOR FOOD. THE GRAIN WILL CAUSE THEM TO HAVE HEALTH PROBLEMS. HE HAS 5 GOATS AND HE STOPPED FEEDING THEM GRAIN. NONE OF THEM ARE SICK RIGHT NOW BUT THE VET TOLD HIM GRAIN IS NIT GOOD FOR GOATS EVER. JUST WANTED YOU TO KNOW THIS, YOU DO HAVE ENOUGH GRASS AROUND YOUR PROPERTY TO LET THEM GRAZE FOR FOOD.
I’ve been considering this. I believe when I get all my fence up, there will be no need for grain at that point for sure I do realize the grains not great for them, but it does help us get through winter.
1 Corinthians 1:18-19 Christ the Power and Wisdom of God 18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”

Does: may not be cycling; may be cycling, but not fertile; may have conceived and miscarried. Or too highly stressed or infertile buck.
I’m gonna buy some chicks pretty soon.
