- Volquest answers your Tennessee football, baseball & recruiting questions in the July 11 mailbag
00:31 SlappyVol: Talk about this roster compared to previous UT teams - who does this team most resemble from a talent and storyline standpoint?
6:00 AkensVFL24: Does Gass play LB or Leo if we land him?
How has Kaleb Beasley recovered from injury? Where does he get looks in camp? He seems versatile to play all 5 positions.
6:46 Volken: If you are given the impossible task of making that prediction now before any pads go on which units are you picking?
9:59 JRockUT: How do you judge/grade Coach Joey Halzle to this point? Did having Joe Milton as QB1 make it unfair to judge Halzle yet?
11:19 Dirk Digler: Would y'all consider TN baseball to be the so called cool school for baseball players?
13:11 Jet_3: Does Heupel get an extension if he gets Tennessee into the playoffs?
15:09 ThatVolGuy: Do y'all get the sense that baseball winning the title could be a breakthrough or watershed moment for the athletic department as a whole? Like shaking off the championship inertia a bit?
19:23 DalVol5: There are plenty of stories of recruits that had the story written and ended up not at Tennessee, but what about coaches? I’ve always heard that Dave Aranda was basically a done deal under Butch.
24:04 BearVol: Will Seldon and Lewis be available for NC State? If so, will there be a pitch count on their carries?
24:28 AP: What is the main strength OSU has going for itself when it comes to Sanders? Would you venture to guess that both UT and OSU are offering the same when it comes to NIL?
27:07 Is Faizon trending to the good guys? I would love an infamous AP percentage on this.
27:43 Bonus: For Dooley, Butch and Pruitt, can you think back to a certain game for each when you knew they weren’t going to be able to get it done long term?
30:17 Dekalbcountyvol: Baseball and basketball seem to be to the point where they just reload every season. How close do you think football is to being there as well?
32:21 GroverLevy: Doug Mathews mentioned on Big Orange Sunday that UT had 15 or 16 public commitments, as well as several private commitments, and that in some instances coaches have asked the recruits to hold off on making an announcement so they can stagger them. Do you believe that to be the case with this class?
34:05 SethDaddy21: With us looking in a good spot for Travis Smith does that have any effect on Juan Gaston?
34:16 With Georgia taking 7 offensive linemen last year and looking at taking 4+ this year does that give Gaston some doubts with them?
35:24 Forever Faithful: What is one recruiting rule change that has taken place that has bettered the recruiting process, and one that has made the process worse?
38:42 TPSReports: I've heard people describe neutral site games as beneficial for recruiting - how does it help? Is it just an easier unofficial visit for prospects in the area?
39:15 The ADaug: Tennessee seems to be going up against Georgia/Ohio State/Alabama more this cycle as opposed to Auburn/Florida. Is that indicative of recruiting a higher caliber of player, or just how it has worked out this time around?
41:18 Rheltney 4 Life: How is Cam Seldon coming along? When is the expectation of first contact?
2. Is Bru McCoy full go for pre-season or does he still have some restrictions?
3. If we win 2 of 3 from Georgia, Bama, and Oklahoma are we in the playoff?
42:44 901VFL: Tell me why I shouldn’t be worried about safety recruiting, seems like it’s consistently our weakest spot on the defense.
43:19 Athrun: Where do we stand with Sanders with his commitment on the horizon? Why does the rest of the nation think that Heupel’s offense does not develop receivers? He has sent more wideouts to the NFL since being a head coach than pretty much anyone. How big will it be to be getting Hunter Ensley back next season? How many DL do you see us taking in this class?
46:10 Nike_Vol: How would you handle the Running back workload for the games in the month of September?
47:12 Pine: I feel best about the DL and _____________ going into fall camp. I am most concerned about ________________ going into fall camp.
48:06 IBelieveICanVol: Perlotte and Gass seem to be Vol leans as of now. If we get both are we done at LB?

Look forward to this every Thursday!
You four guys are a good mix and fun to watch. Thanks. GBO!🍊
Brent with the cold water! And I saw enough of Nico in bowl game to know he’s not gonna freeze! May take a few games to get to Hooker level but he’s gonna ball out!
Something just feels super special about what we have going on at tennessee i cant wait for boys of Fall this fall bc this team is locked i would like to see us take alittle more advantage of the portal but maybe that means we are developing. Basically just using the portal on traits you cant teach toughness in bru &holden speed in Thornton & braizell giant mountain in Heard & miles pili. Im pumped GO BIG ORANGE 🍊🍊🍊
Austin back🎉
You guys are awesome and hilarious!
Austin “ya know” Price
Nico will have a much better receiving Corp than what he had to work with in the bowl game
Brent Eeyore Hubbs!
NICO WILL BE FINE...GREAT POCKET AWARENESS
Why would any Tennessee fan still be thinking or talking about Dooley , Pruitt , or Butch at this point ?
Who was freaking typing the whole show
Didn't Dooley lose to a bad Miss st team at home?
We can tell from one game vs a good defense ( numbers wise), that Nico is most definitely going to ne very, very good. He will not get sacked 5 times in a game again.
Where have you been AP ?
Em, Emu, uh you no no we know.
Georgia' has added 15 players from baseball portal.
Their looking for the football game tickets. Lol
What happened to Josephs? Did his freshman year success make him take the off-season less seriously than James P did? After seeing James P shine last year, do you think that motivated him this off-season? Could we see both of them take a huge step this year where we are just as good on both sides? Or is James P just more talented but it took him a year to get right?
He had 2 older guys who played a lot at DE like Harrison and Baron. Nothing has happened to Josephs. He’s still a good player with a bright future.
@jakefromstatefarm33 Agree. Just wondering if that 1st year spotlight affected his 1st year off-season. We didn't hear much from JP until last year. Hopefully, if it was a not being locked in type thing, he's over it and has put in the work. With that room being loaded the way it is, I'm sure he is.
@@christopherwelch192 I see him filling in that Roman Harrison role. He could be a WDE on 3rd down and long for sure.
@jakefromstatefarm33 hey man, on another topic, do you have time to discuss my extended warranty? Lol!
@@christopherwelch192 of course! Bundling your home and auto with State Farm will save you hundreds(pennies maybe)
Heard Leacock is gonna hot the portal
Too late
Transfer portal and NIL will destroy college sports watch and see folks. Sweet JESUS I miss the 70s and 80s
Makes me wonder where it will stop. College now, but some states you can pay high school kids that have committed. How long before we see local businesses give little league guys contracts in hopes they make it big at the future levels. We might be there already, baby gronk comes to mind. I see that becoming more normal. There are plenty of dad's on UA-cam with a ten year old with 3 or 4 years of training film out there. Makes me also wonder, how many kids that could have been great get burnt out by high school. Seems like football is all those kids get to do.
@@christopherwelch192 it stop when the good LORD has had enough. We are destroying young children
NCAA caused this by being overbearing, and now we have to deal with the repercussions. Players deserved to be paid more a long time ago, but now it’s the Wild West because the NCAA refused to give an inch.
@jakefromstatefarm33 I agree that the player should be able to make some money. The amounts currently being offered are ridiculous though. There definitely needs to be a cap per year. Maybe base it on time in the program to slow the transfers. Year 1, you can make this, year two, this, and so on. Then, if you transfer, you go back to a year 1 pay. That would cut the transfers back down to legit reasons, IMO. With that being said, I also think any money from NIL should be tracked. For example, if you're making a million, someone somewhere should be able to do an audit and add up the commercials/radio/autograph signings...ect. That would calm the wild west some as well. For example, I live in Western North Carolina, and I haven't seen Nico on my TV other than GameDay. What NIL related thing is he doing for that "8 mill"? I'm not an NCAA fan, but someone somewhere needs to be in charge and make a few rules within the law. There isn't any accountability right now, so schools will buy their rosters until there is. Go Vols!
@@jakefromstatefarm33 free college, room and board, free meals, medical comes to about what 100,000 a year not bad for a 18 year old kid. Then like the old days couple of hundred under the table. The guys in the 60s 70s 80s and 90s, didn't bitch. Just saying
I still think we’ll go 8-4 this year. Too many unknowns
Clueless statement
@@robertbernard6479 how is that clueless? We don’t know how good Nico will be, he’s only played one game. We don’t know how good the running backs will be especially with Seldon not 100%. We don’t know if the receivers will get back on track. We don’t know if cooper mays will stay healthy. We don’t know if the secondary will be actually better. There are a lot of unknowns especially if the injury bug gets us like last year.
@@chadr7522 I think I trust the coaches and the reports coming from VOLQUEST more than your unknowns. You obviously don't follow the team closely.
AP- STOP the darn You Know 5-6 times a talk. You are great, but that and Rob's stutter cuteness really makes you guys...less.
