    Gentle Parenting is so transformative for yourself as a parent and mainly for your kids as a authoritative but not authoritarian style of parenting that is like emotional coaching with the aim to let you get off the punishment/reward cycle and have a more naturally co operative and close connected relationship and calm house.

    So many things I did without knowing why with my daughters since they were born (11 years ago), my son is nearly 1 and I've been thinking so much more about why I talk a certain way to my children and I just love that it's becoming more common all over the internet as 'gentle parenting'.
    It may take more than 1 generation but I believe gentle parenting will help us create kinder and more compassionate generation for the future.

    I feel for the kids because of them having to do what their parents/carers say.

    I have started giving big, happy smiles when they come down for breakfast and it’s worked so well this week. They both respond with an even bigger grin and I get a hug! I thought it was a great idea when you mentioned it on instagram.

    I was at a funeral and the bereaved son, now an adult, got up to speak. He said his Mam always had the biggest smile and hug for him when he came in the door over the years. I loved that’s how he remembered her, welcoming him home with open arms. 😢

    Great video! I feel that if you want your kids to be kind, have empathy, tidy up, "be respectful" etc. you first have model that behaviour! Also another lovely tip I picked up that makes you child feel seen or acknowledge or happy. Is saying that you've missed them when they've been at school or nursery all day. I make sure I say this every time I pick my Son up from his childminder.

    You can also establish a routine and ask the child what we need to do next ( have breakfast, brush teeth, fill up your water bottle, put your coat and shoes on, then we can leave). Saves me from repeating myself 8 million times, as a nanny!

    Mum management role 😅😳 I can fully relate with that title unfortunately. I’ve recently incorporated the fourth way of focusing on what you want and not the action you’re trying to avoid. As a mum of four, it can be tricky to not command stuff - I love the challenge of trying to make it inviting. I find having a routine with visual cards help the kids to have independence of the task and I don’t have to be mum manager. Thank you again for sharing! Loved it all 🤍

    I feel like I’ve done all of these things for the past 2 years and it’s just… not working for my son 🤦🏽‍♀️ works fine for my daughter i just don’t know what to do. Even non gentle parenting doesn’t work 🙄

    But what do you do after you've not given the command..and shown the good things that goes along with it and they refuse? And throw a huge tantrum? As a nanny...its so hard for me to handle it after I use the gentle parenting the family wants me to use.

    • @SJ_Strum
      @SJ_Strum  2 роки тому

      If you disagree on a style as a nanny it’s always good to talk about it and pick something that works for you and them. Tantrums are a feeling and I’d hope your family would be up for a chat about it x
