Great idea. And purchasing extra large t-shirts from the thrift store or asking family for their old t-shirts they were going to throw away would be a great recycle project. Very cool.
I actually bought a skein of that sort of yarn at the last minute and was considering making a cardigan out of it cause I really like the texture! On the list for later…

A macrame mini skirt is so curious and inventive but totally works and is cute as a bug’s ear! The fringe completes it and gives it a little bit of flapper charm.
In the 1970s, my Uncle Rich used to do so much macrame, everyone in the family had something he'd made. His favorite projects were lawn chairs and chaise longes, which were so sturdy after he'd "reupholster" them with the macrame (they were just these folding chairs with the aluminum pipe bases) that some of my cousins have pieces he made way back then. They were also very comfortable to sit in, which those cheap lawn chairs he stared out with certainly weren't. I think you have a pool in your backyard (from earlier house tour videos), so if you ever get the urge to macrame again, that might be something you'd enjoy?
This skirt is a dazzling success, the details on the waistband and the fringe are fabulous! I’m sad that you aren’t a mini-skirt person because the fit is perfect & looks so cute on you!
I pretty much never comment on videos with lots of comments, but i just have to tell how much your videos mean to me. You're the first youtuber that I actually long for the next video and always watch them as soon as I can after them being released. I've watched and thoroughly enjoyed all of your videos, and I would seriously love to have 2 hour videos to watch, either while crafting or just to chill with. Your videos give me the energyboost that I desperately need. I could go on rambling about all the things I love about you and how you help me, but I don't want to take up too much of peoples time. x) Truly THANK YOU for being who you are and making these videos! ❤
When I work with really long pieces of yarn/cord, I like to make a teensy little center-pull ball with the excess length. Make sure to wind it so that your working end comes out as the center cord of the ball, and then you just pull out more as you go. Makes it much easier to pass long tails through. Hope this makes sense enough to help someone out! 😅
Charlie! Make butterflies of the long yarns. Hold the end in your palm, around a foot from the end of your length. Spread your hand open, with the palm facing you. Starting before the foot long tail, wrap the length first around from underneath your thumb, then across the palm and cross to the top side of your baby finger and around it. Keep wrapping in this figure-8 pattern until you are within a couple feet of your starting point on the rod. Take a rubber band. Remove the butterfly from your hand by holding in the center. Wrap the rubber band around the butterfly at the center of your palm. When you need to release length from the butterfly as you work, you simply pull it and pull that loop (or several) out from the rubber band. You may need to tighten the rubber band eventually as your butterfly gets skinnier. I, too, have been thinking of macrame! It has been 30 years since I have done any. I bought some natural jute rope. It turns out it was too thick. But that’s okay, since I had forgotten how itchy jute fibers are! No way am I going to do anything with jute. Out to the shed, for tying up things outside!
Love the skirt!! I also love your longer videos, your sound quality is great, there is no loud appliances lowering my listening experience, and your voice is very nice to hear while puttering about. And your creativity is a pleasure over all!!💚💜💚
Regarding the length issue- You could do like some Pentecostal type women do and layer it. Put a longer skirt you are more comfortable with, or even weather appropriate. Then put the macrame one over it as a show layer. I could see it going great with a black for contrast and *pop* effect, but other colors could do well also. (Post edit- having a 2nd layer also give additional coverage in the event you are out and have some kind of critical failure wardrobe malfunction with it. Things have been known to happen) On the darts, sewing them together- I had an idea of using a crochet hook and the existing loop threads, sew the left one to the right, right to the left. If there are more loops to pick up because one is short, sew the short through the new larger loop, but then there's the problem of finishing and securing, and I don't know how to solve for that as I have zilch experience with macrame. Just a theory, but if it works it could reduce the bulk. Anyways, excellent work, it looks smashing, and the color pattern and scheme look magnificent on you!
What a cute skirt and you look great in it. If the length makes you uneasy, you could choose tights matching one of the colors and wear them together. I love the waistband and its color, but if you wanted to make the skirt more layerable, you could make it waistbandless by sewing a piece of twill tape behind the top edge to keep it from stretching out and closing with a large hook and eye ... because you really should wear this creation!
But what if Mini macrame with embroidery floss? 👀 (Added later) YESSS ALL THE SWATCHES!!!! I bet mini macrame would be cute in a doll house or on a plant pot 🙂
Don't worry about longer videos. I actually get inspired to do my creations while watching you. Watching this video actually reminded me of the scarf I'm making out of a yarn similar to the dust blue (I think that's the right color) one you have. It's a lovely soft yarn, which is why I liked it (Yay for sensory fun)
Oh Charlie!!! It's so stinking cute!! ❤ I'm inspired to macrame a vest now! I appreciate you sharing the swatching and project planning parts with us. It offered me a great example for breaking tasks into more manageable parts. I also needed to hear that other people have intrusive thoughts that they have to spend time redirecting as well. It helps me feel like less of a failure that I still have those thoughts after years of working on them.
Interesting, while enjoying this video I thought about @shannonmakes who regularly gets complaints about how much she talks and she doesn't talk half as much this! Do you get similar complaints? Good for you for leaning into your style. 😁Lol
That skirt is really cute. You could wear a sweater as a top and some tights or leggings under it and be warm enough. Making it more comfortable since mini skirts are not your thing. Some nice boots and you're set. I also have no problem with longer videos, very informative and entertaining is good with me.
Very excited to watch this! And I just wanted to say I've really appreciated the joy and curiosity your videos have brought me since I started watching a few months ago. I had done a lot of crafting when I was younger but there was something stuck in my brain to as a "real adult" now, I should make 'practical' (read: boring colors of things everyone has) stuff and be very 'serious' about doing 'a good job' because some adult inspector might come in and critique if it was doing 'real adult' well enough. And freeing myself to make things even when I have no idea if they will work and if they do, whether I'll use them, but just because I'm curious and excited to try a thing, has made me reconnect with crafting! For example, one day this week I decided I wanted a cloak and so I went to my version of Remainders, grabbed a bundle of fabric with good color and texture and was like, if I hate it, I can try again with what I learned or I can follow the next inspiration fairy when it arrives. And anywho, now I have a princley blue cloak with gold buttons and it was a joy to make! If the inspiration fairy strikes you with 3D printing ideas again, I'd love to see more exploration of that craft on this channel (obvs no pressure if not but I'm trying to figure out things to do with mine)
Yay I’m so happy you’ve rediscovered the joy of creating! I’m so with you - there’s such a weird feeling of adulthood pushing aside the joys of childhood crafting and that’s such a pity cause crafting and making and creating is just the best!
I've made friendship bracelets out of embroidery floss when I was a teenager. It is very similar to macrame. You can make all kinds of things like belts, necklaces etc. And you can use many different colors in one project.
Oooh, the elastic sample could work like a shirring panel por a normal garment? Maybe? You would need to find a way to attach the panel to the rest of the garment, but maybe with something like you'd do for a lacing closure?
Oooooo I did not at all consider that, and that is a fabulous idea! I think it might be a bit tricky to machine sew in, but you could just hand sew it in real well, and yeah, it would be super cool looking and functional!
that skirt came out so cute! though I won't blame you if it ends up not seeing a lot of wear purely because it doesn't have pockets and I know how hard it is to choose something without pockets when you have so many other cute options that do
Funny - I was thinking about patch pockets to match the waist band but once it was done, I realize it would spoil the vibe. Perhaps inset pockets of regular fabric in the side seams...
I love the idea of this, next time you could try seeking :) "Steeking is a knitting technique that involves cutting a straight line through a column of stitches to create an opening or attach another piece. The word "steek" comes from the Middle English verb steken, which means to pierce, fix, or enclose." Basically, sew and then cut the excess material.
as far as i recall, machines are still not able to work crochet stitches in the full three axis you can use any material for macrame, just like you can knit/crochet with any fiber
Cute skirt!! I REALLLLLLY like the waistband. I was surprised you didn’t make pockets (but I understand 1. Macramed pockets would have been BULKY, and 2. It was an experiment). And I absolutely LOVE your music tidbits and the “bloopers” at the end. So funny!!!!
I appreciate the captions on your videos so much. I'm not deaf or hoh, but I am very adhd. It's so nice to know that I am reading exactly what you're saying, along with your hilarious descriptions of the music you've used (I forget which video, but I think of the mouse café in Paris a lot). Thank you!
Loved your skirt. I don't pay attention to video length and frequently watch hour long videos. If the personality can pull it off, then I'm good to watch. I love your personality and I don't even change the speed of your videos like I do so many others.
It turned out really cute! Also, it matches with the big floppy hat from a previous video that’s draped over the armchair. You could wear it with thick tights in winter. It has a “cosy rug” vibe. Charlie: “It’s too cold for this: it’s officially…” Me: She’s going to say winter- Charlie: “fall.” Me: It’s that warm there?!
Charlie: I decided I was gonna get some new yarn (pulls it out of the bag) Me: (huge gasp) OH MY GOD THAT IS THE E X A C T SAME YARN I'VE BEEN MAKING A PONCHO OUT OF FOR LIKE A YEAR AND A HALF!!! I'M ON SKEIN FOUR!!!!! (also gotta love a classic Mat "what are you doing?" and Charlie reply "styuff" in the outtakes ❤)
I know how you feel. I crochet and sometimes I get to a point were I just don't want to work on a project, especially if there is not much change in the pattern. I have one that I am trying to finish, I only have 6 rows and a boarder to do but I haven't picked it up I over a month
you remind me that I have a macramé chair to finish (because why start with a plant hanger when you can do a chair). Back to your skirt, I like it a lot. With thick stockings, I'd wear it over here up north (even higher than montreal) The variagated colors gives it deepness, and the fringe funkyness. Quite inspiring!
I love what you did with this skirt! I love how the yarn you chose ended up looking. Also, your editing of the music to be balanced with the video is so well done (eg. Timing the ending of a song to the end of a scene), I just love those little touches❤ Thanks for putting videos out. I really appreciate the work you put in.
I used that same Red Heart Wool-Ease yarn (I believe the color way is Hudson Bay?) in one of my first knitting projects! I had just learned to knit using UA-cam and no one I knew personally did anything crafty, so I had no idea online yarn shops or even JoAnn EXISTED! But I had seen stuff online that used multicolored yarn, so I knew it was out there somewhere. Walmart was my only option, so I found the single craft aisle and searched high and low for something multicolored. That Red Heart Hudson Bay was the only skein that wasn’t just a solid color.. It was chunky and soft-ISH - soft enough to wear on top of my thick hair anyways - so I bought it and used it and absolutely fell in love with the colors. I only used about 1/4 of the yarn I bought on the beanie, so for a long time everything I made had the same aesthetic. Lol. I bought a bunch of other skeins in colors that matched the ones in Hudson and made SO MANY projects that all matched each other. Charlie, I love your channel so much. It’s my favorite on UA-cam right now and has been since I found it. And, I’ve gotta say, my absolute FAVORITE videos you make are the ones like this - where you just take an idea and fucking RUN with it. 😂 I can’t tell you the amount of joy it brings me to know there’s at least ONE other person out there who, like me, finds a random interest in something and then feels the deep desire to learn EVERYTHING about that thing and do the thing themselves. Your exploration videos make me UNEXPLAINABLY happy. It’s like I’m doing my own craft exploration, but with a friend who is JUST as excited as I am about the process. Your channel - that is, your personality, your enthusiasm, your honesty, your humor, your creativity and your passion - is a gift and I’m truly thankful for it. ❤
Allright, I haven't done macrame, but I would recommend trying crochet again. It seems suitable for similar projects you seems drawn to, but requires less being sure of what you want and cutting yarn ahead of time, and more freeform freedom. Although for what you want to make it might be a larger (not steeper) learning curve. Edit: also, beautiful skirt! I forgot to say, it looks absolutely sublime!
The hoodie dress making an appearance in the video has re-ignited my need to make said dress for myself. Whhyyyyy must I have so many other wips right now?! 😅
ehehehehe, I giggled at the blooper reel Aaanyways, congrats on this, I was quite sceptical when you said what you're planning to do... and for a while I guessed it might be something like a waistcoat or a vest (I had a macrame vest as a teen, but it was mesh-y and with a long fringe - I liked it!), but the skirt was such a pleasant surprise, it being comfy was even better surprise. Interesting exploration of possibilities, love it!
Oooo I'm imagining a cardigan/sweater-type thing using something like the pattern you used for the waistband, essentially making it look like those ribbed knit sweaters with the chonky figure-8 kinds of patterns on them 🤩
Love the linger videos. I have them on in the background doing other stuff as well. You're voice and dialogue is nice to listen to. And the skirt turned out really well. Well done!
What a fun project! I love to see your problem-solving and thought processes as you work your way through your projects. A few things that might be of interest: I think your green yarn that you love might be Lion Brand Homespun. Super soft, very common, and I love the final product, but it's a pain to knit with because it doesn't have much stretch and the texture can make it awkward to find the next stitch. It would be interesting to see the elastic used as a macrame waistband on either a macrame skirt or a regular fabric skirt. I think it would be a lot of fun with a circle skirt, especially. I don't know enough about macrame to know if you can macrame a solid circle, but even just on a regular skirt, I bet the elastic would make a fairly comfy waistband, and you wouldn't need to worry as much about how see-through (or not) it was, as you would with macrame fabric used for the main garment. Finally, weighing your swatches is actually REALLY useful for estimating yardage. If you get a swatch and trim off most of the extra bits (the starting knots and tassels at the end), figure out your surface area, and get your mass, you can use that to figure out how much yarn you'll need overall. So, if your swatch ends up 5x7" and weighs 10g, (pulling random numbers out of the air) and you need a piece of fabric that's 15x28" (to make the math easy) you'll effectively need 3x the height of the original swatch and 4x the width, so 12x the amount of surface area. Now you just multiply that times your mass, to get 120 g of yarn needed. You can also just figure out a weight per square inch (10g/35 sq inches= .28 g/in sq) and multiply by the square inches of the fabric you're wanting to make (.28 g/sq in x 420 sq in= 118 g). Most yarn will give you a weight on the skein. So, if the skein is 50g you might get away with only 3 skeins, but buying 4 will give you better coverage just in case you need more for whatever reason. I tend to err on the side of too much extra, because it can always be returned, but sometimes you can't get more because they've discontinued the yarn, or half the city decided they needed scarves in your chosen color, or whatever. The swatch does need to be in your selected yarn to be useful, but ABSOLUTELY record the weights of your swatches! If you ever do decide to do something in that embroidery floss, having the mass of the swatch already means you don't have to redo it, as long as you're doing the same knot pattern. Then you can just do some quick math to figure out a minimum amount of yarn (be generous with your excess) and you're good to go for the next project.
Watching your videos always makes me smile. That silver swatch puts me in mind of a purse. The skirt is very cute; I especially love the waistband. Your entire swatch made me think about doing a rug in macrame, but then I also like the cardigan suggestion at the end. However, the texture might drive me crazy if it was something to wear. I am sensitive to the feel of what I am wearing...which is possibly a fibromyalgia thing.
It’s even more time consuming, but have you ever heard of nalbinding? It’s a method of making cloth with a single needle. The macrame fabric kind of reminded me of that, but more open-worked!
Turned out so well! The way you were thinking about the yarn and construction makes me wonder if you’d enjoy crochet. I end up having similar problem solving thoughts for crochet projects. But if you really like the physical, hands on knotting part, maybe crochet would be less fun.
Charlie, the macrame mini skirt came out so cool. I love the colors & your discovery about the core yarn not showing was interesting. I'm just wondering how in the world you did it without any pockets! Please, don't worry about the length of your videos, I would watch an uncut version of the entire project. hUgz from Ohio...I'm jazzed, it's snowing here today! yay
It's super cute, but I'll stick to crochet, much much quicker. You should give it a try, there are so few basic stitches, it's all about the combinations. Easy to learn. I also mix it with my sewing projects.❤
Super cute skirt! Flirty & fun!! And I'm on board with longer videos. Sometimes I feel like videos are just too short. Especially if I'm watching while I'm sewing/cooking/cleaning.
I haven't done macrame enough to know if this would be useful: Could you use something like lace bobbins or weaving shuttles to organize the long yarn tails? I love long videos, that's less searching for new videos to keep me company as I work on my own things!
you've got me plotting and planning an idea..I have yarn..way to much of it in different ply's, styles and colours...I'm thinking of a sort of long sleeveless cardi/vest/hippy style...I'll let you know how it goes...mind you, it probably won't come to fruition until the new year..
This skirt is gorgeous and i love longer videos! I clicked on this one because it was more than 30 minutes, i knit a big piece and don't want to look for another video in the middle of the row 😅 I can physically feel the frustration of the makrame going too slow, in fact as soon as i saw which technique you're doing i went "girllll noooooo!" I hoped that you will switch to friendship bracelet weave or even a square fr bracelet weave, it's so much faster! You can do pretty diagonal colour patterns with it, the surface is smoother, and the vertical knot is easier on hands as it is more natural movement. I made a tapestry for the wall with a regular embroidery pattern using this technique. Check it out maybe if you get the urge to knot again!
Bobbins!!! Roll the length of yarn onto a cardboard bobbin so the length of pull isnt so annoying. Still impressed. Id have been done halfway through the first side.
23:31 you missed the perfect opportunity there to confidently declare "PARKOUR!" teehee. Such a cute skirt. As we say in Northern Ireland, you have the patience of a Saint, lol. Lee x
I also like the process of macrame while not being very fond of how it looks, so I was right in, and it didn't disappoint. In her "Encyclopedia of Needlework", Theresa von Dillmont describes and shows macrame bobbins where the string is wound to avoid joints (and having madness inducing lengths of thread). They're a bit like bigger lace bobbins without a handle and work the same.
Fantastic! I think this should be another viral hit! Though I know those aren't as much fun as we all think they are. It looks amazing!! I think I would have made the darts going the other direction, so you could have 'sewn them together' as you went. But I'm not sure my idea is any better.
When using super long lengths of yarn, string or rope I loop it up and gather it together and hold it with a rubber band. They then can be woven through without the annoyance of long pieces. Thanks haven't done macrame in a long time. Watching this I now kinda want to make a jumper/sweater. (Sorry jumper is what Australians call a sweater)
This project was fascinating and the result was 100% PERFECT. (Side note…we just saw the movie version of Wicked and I was imagining you being one of the myriad dancers).
The process and idea ( maybe not the final product so much) reminded me of the danish Egtved girls outfit. She's from the bronze age, and was found with very well preserved clothes, and her skirt is a VERY cool and daring version of macrame. Well, mostly strings actually 😊. They didn't worry about the see through quality of the macrame.....This might not be what teenage girls were actually wearing 3500 years ago (it might be ceremonial for example) But it could be, and that's pretty cool.
Definitely Chanel vibes. All the way through I was thinking it has it's roots in knitting and crochet, so why wouldn't work? Loved it, although I do not possess the patience to even try.
I’ve thought of doing something adjacent to this with clothing and macrame. Instead of having mesh on the neckline and shoulders like some dresses or tops have. I think it would be pretty to replace that with some sort of lace macrame.
this is SO cool. I've been wanting to get into macrame for a while.. i can already envision a dress i'd love to make from this.. oh no. Another creative hobby incoming
Perfect timing, I’ve been making some lace (with embroidery thread) and I love the long videos! Skirt looks AMAZING. I’d love to see if a sweater like you mentioned would work?
Yes, unfortunately I was thinking this too. I was watching a review of the box which mentioned the ai :/ A lot of the comments on that video also said a lot of the fabric was the same as what you could get on Temu.
@@rabidpotatoify ofc temu can have. They sell stuff. It's not fabric they buy in in patterns just for them. So that I not find strange at all. Temu also copy alot so who the egg and who is the hen? Is it same quality of fabric as well and not just a copied pattern is also a question when it comes to a fejk company as temu.

I knit basic 42" bust sweaters in about 45 hours. Crochet takes about 10 hours more because I take more breaks.

45 hours? Suddenly seeing doesn't seem that time consuming anymore 😆
@@raraavis7782 I grossly underestimate my sewing times 🤣
When I work with really long pieces of yarn/cord, I like to make a teensy little center-pull ball with the excess length.

On the darts, sewing them together- I had an idea of using a crochet hook and the existing loop threads, sew the left one to the right, right to the left.
(Added later) YESSS ALL THE SWATCHES!!!!
I bet mini macrame would be cute in a doll house or on a plant pot 🙂
Yaaaas that would be adorable in a doll house!
So many color choices. Yeah!
There's an IG 'one for me one for mini' I think, and they make full sized and doll house size of each thing they make. It's super cute.
This was such a cool idea! And a beautiful project! Love long videos and would definitely watch another project like this...or a ballgown creation 😉
Don't worry about longer videos. I actually get inspired to do my creations while watching you. Watching this video actually reminded me of the scarf I'm making out of a yarn similar to the dust blue (I think that's the right color) one you have. It's a lovely soft yarn, which is why I liked it (Yay for sensory fun)
that fabric looks like it would make such a cosy poncho!
The skirt can become a cushion if it’s not your style. You did a great job on the skirt. It’s cute on you.❤
Girl, you took this grandma back to the `70's. Thanks!
That turned out absolutely delicious ❤. Love the fringe and waistband❤❤❤
I'm watching the old videos and just caught up to the macrame videos! What timing XD.
I looove long and chatty videos!! I watched while I sew or chrochet so it helps to accompany me with my long projects❤
Interesting, while enjoying this video I thought about @shannonmakes who regularly gets complaints about how much she talks and she doesn't talk half as much this! Do you get similar complaints? Good for you for leaning into your style. 😁Lol
My grandmother used to like making fancy Chanel-style suits. This fabric visually looks like something she would use. Very classic.
I prefer a longer video. The longer it is the longer i have before i have to try to find another video to watch.
Exactly this!
That skirt is really cute. You could wear a sweater as a top and some tights or leggings under it and be warm enough. Making it more comfortable since mini skirts are not your thing. Some nice boots and you're set. I also have no problem with longer videos, very informative and entertaining is good with me.
I loved watching this process, and the skirt is really great! Cute, it moves well, and I could see some fashion forward person wearing it. I love it!
The word "steek" comes from the Middle English verb steken, which means to pierce, fix, or enclose." Basically, sew and then cut the excess material.
as far as i recall, machines are still not able to work crochet stitches in the full three axis
you can use any material for macrame, just like you can knit/crochet with any fiber
Perfect playlist, the mini-skirt with the fringue gives me a jazzy vibe
I appreciate the captions on your videos so much. I'm not deaf or hoh, but I am very adhd. It's so nice to know that I am reading exactly what you're saying, along with your hilarious descriptions of the music you've used (I forget which video, but I think of the mouse café in Paris a lot). Thank you!
Super cool idea. Love the fringe! 😊
I'm crying! You look so stinking cute! That waistband is PERFECTION!
Charlie: I decided I was gonna get some new yarn (pulls it out of the bag)
Me: (huge gasp) OH MY GOD THAT IS THE E X A C T SAME YARN I'VE BEEN MAKING A PONCHO OUT OF FOR LIKE A YEAR AND A HALF!!! I'M ON SKEIN FOUR!!!!!
(also gotta love a classic Mat "what are you doing?" and Charlie reply "styuff" in the outtakes ❤)
First time commenting. I love it's look. For all your labor and money, I loved the video.
final product looks so beautiful
I know how you feel. I crochet and sometimes I get to a point were I just don't want to work on a project, especially if there is not much change in the pattern. I have one that I am trying to finish, I only have 6 rows and a boarder to do but I haven't picked it up I over a month
you remind me that I have a macramé chair to finish (because why start with a plant hanger when you can do a chair). Back to your skirt, I like it a lot. With thick stockings, I'd wear it over here up north (even higher than montreal) The variagated colors gives it deepness, and the fringe funkyness. Quite inspiring!
Ooo I’d love to do a macrame chair! I’m with you - jump right into the deep end every time!
I love what you did with this skirt! I love how the yarn you chose ended up looking.
Also, your editing of the music to be balanced with the video is so well done (eg. Timing the ending of a song to the end of a scene), I just love those little touches❤
Thanks for putting videos out.
I can’t tell you the amount of joy it brings me to know there’s at least ONE other person out there who, like me, finds a random interest in something and then feels the deep desire to learn EVERYTHING about that thing and do the thing themselves.
Aww you’re gonna make me cry, that’s so kind of you!! ❤️❤️
ehehehehe, I giggled at the blooper reel
Aaanyways, congrats on this, I was quite sceptical when you said what you're planning to do... and for a while I guessed it might be something like a waistcoat or a vest (I had a macrame vest as a teen, but it was mesh-y and with a long fringe - I liked it!), but the skirt was such a pleasant surprise, it being comfy was even better surprise. Interesting exploration of possibilities, love it!
The final product is gorgeous - I love the tweedy effect of the macrame x
Holy moly that is impressive. Wow. So creative.
Super cute project. I think the waistband is the best part and would be really pretty on a flowy circle skirt too.
Oooo I'm imagining a cardigan/sweater-type thing using something like the pattern you used for the waistband, essentially making it look like those ribbed knit sweaters with the chonky figure-8 kinds of patterns on them 🤩
Maybe the weight records will help you decide later which cord/thread would be easier to wear.
Love the linger videos. I have them on in the background doing other stuff as well. You're voice and dialogue is nice to listen to. And the skirt turned out really well. Well done!
Agree, some of us love longer videos. This was very interesting!
What a fun project! I love to see your problem-solving and thought processes as you work your way through your projects.
A few things that might be of interest:
I think your green yarn that you love might be Lion Brand Homespun.
It is freaking adorable. Love it
Watching your videos always makes me smile.
I am so impressed!! You did a GREAT job.
the skirt is adorbs!!!!! (and the out-takes at the end are hilarious!) :D
Charlie, the macrame mini skirt came out so cool.
I love the colors & your discovery about the core
yarn not showing was interesting.
I'm just wondering how in the world you did it
without any pockets!
Please, don't worry about the length of your videos,
I would watch an uncut version of the entire project.
hUgz from Ohio...I'm jazzed, it's snowing here today! yay
It's super cute, but I'll stick to crochet, much much quicker. You should give it a try, there are so few basic stitches, it's all about the combinations. Easy to learn. I also mix it with my sewing projects.❤
Longer? Yay!!! Love your content & love the skirt!
yo. what a beautiful result, and such a fantastic time intensive project. i love it
turned out very cute. the waistband is very nice
Super cute skirt! Flirty & fun!! And I'm on board with longer videos. Sometimes I feel like videos are just too short. Especially if I'm watching while I'm sewing/cooking/cleaning.
More Charlie the better as far as I’m concerned. Xxxx
I clicked on this one because it was more than 30 minutes, i knit a big piece and don't want to look for another video in the middle of the row 😅
I can physically feel the frustration of the makrame going too slow, in fact as soon as i saw which technique you're doing i went "girllll noooooo!" I hoped that you will switch to friendship bracelet weave or even a square fr bracelet weave, it's so much faster!
Ooooo im so happy! I love macrame
Same here. I'm thinking about making a macrame privacy panel for the front window because I can't find anything I like.
The fluffy yarn u like is called chenille yarn
Please note tomorrow is the first day of summer 😂 down under
This project was fascinating and the result was 100% PERFECT. (Side note…we just saw the movie version of Wicked and I was imagining you being one of the myriad dancers).
I thought macrame was annoying until I saw your fresh approach to it! Cheers 🧶
It is very flattering! Would look great with a Chanel style jacket!
I was definitely getting Chanel vibes too!
Definitely Chanel vibes. All the way through I was thinking it has it's roots in knitting and crochet, so why wouldn't work?
Loved it, although I do not possess the patience to even try.
That turned out so great!
🥰
I’ve thought of doing something adjacent to this with clothing and macrame. Instead of having mesh on the neckline and shoulders like some dresses or tops have. I think it would be pretty to replace that with some sort of lace macrame.
this is SO cool. I've been wanting to get into macrame for a while.. i can already envision a dress i'd love to make from this.. oh no. Another creative hobby incoming
Hehehehe I’m just running through the internet sprinkling “try new crafts” dust everywhere
It turned out really cute.
You could line a looser knot pattern or justwear a slip.
Perfect timing, I’ve been making some lace (with embroidery thread) and I love the long videos! Skirt looks AMAZING. I’d love to see if a sweater like you mentioned would work?
anyone thinking about ms quilty: check reviews BEFORE buying, many of their "example" pics are AI generated.
They sell pieces of fabric…
Yes. Yes. Yes.
That’s a fun skirt, love it 😊
