Singapore's Waterways And Its Wild Inhabitants | Wild City: River World | CNA Documentary
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 гру 2020
- Life is tough on Singapore’s waterways. Meet the first ever brood of otter pups to be born and raised in UNESCO World Heritage site-the Singapore Botanic Gardens. And six of the most precious and endangered Lesser Whistling Ducklings.
With exclusive access to the otter family, we follow many firsts for the pups - from a swimming lesson to hunting their catch. We also capture the ultimate display of a mother’s love in the duck family as they faced down Mother Nature's fury. Will these younglings make it to adulthood?
Joining the cast of water babies are huge river monsters battling for dominance; strange night-time creatures birthing hundreds of eggs at a time; and the most evolved of tiny creatures that can walk on water.

About Wild City: River World: Shot over seven months using state-of-the-art natural history techniques and equipment, this latest instalment of the award-winning Wild City series takes you on a journey down the rivers and lakes of Singapore through the eyes of the young in the wild.

Wow... It feels like watching a Nat Geo Documentary... Very well made. And so proud to realize that we are living among these wild inhabitants. Simply amazing work.
and
there is one wild life doc about singapore is narrated by David Attenborough
Isn’t this incredible?! The way the mother pushes her babies in the water then teaches them house w to swim, nature is truly fascinating.
Among technologies and modernity, how the Singapore govt and peoples value wildlife is what make me adore so much, as a person who work in conservation agency, making more country to be aware of wildlife like Singapore is a dream. Thank you for be inspirational.
You can have the wilds in a city. That is kind of a good idea.
Good idea until they attack you 🤣
@@musiclifenatureandtravelsb9178 What how many attacks have been there in Singapore
@@hirdhandas4158 None. Honestly, we do more damage to them through ignorance. The government and many non-profit groups are doing their best to educate people on how to coexist side by side with these animals.
Erm, the nice wildlife that is. I don't fancy waking up to a tiger outside my door
Yeah let the lions tigers roam in the city and watch them prey some humans 🤣🤣🤣
How magical! Singapore just jumped to the top of my list of places to visit someday, what an incredible achievement by the city and it’s planners.
I love Singapore country, this is suitable living place on the world , I respect here all the ruls/regulations and law for human. Here nature and environment is excellent. This is a example of development country. Here all peaceful people. So I feel proud for came here work since 2008 till now . When I will back my home in Bangladesh I will miss Singapore City.
How long u wan to stay here?
When u go back?
Truly Singapore make the best of everything they possess. Great wisdom. The difference between the righteous and the corrupt is significant. Singapore might be small but the real precious gem
Yes that is the key, corruption, all corrupted countries suffer.
Kudos to the government of Singapore and to the film crew. This was excellent. I have long been a fan of the Bashan otters. I would love to visit one day. Thank you 🙏🏻
It would also help if the forests in the middle of the island were preserved, Tengah has been recently destroued for more flats..
Hope this habitat will be long preserved for many years to come! Happy to see nature thriving in urban area. Happy to see this from Malaysia!
No otter issues are more important than this! 😄😍
Thank you for the wonderful documentary and narrator, he is the late George Page of this generation.
Congratulations!
it's hard to imagine the genius engineering to make this beautiful echo system inside a city. hands down Singapore .
Beautiful photography and narration.
Singapore, my favourite city in the World!
" there are only 50 ducks... But the number has increased..." YAYYYYY !!!!
.... by six"
oh... Ahem... okay.... :/
AND TWO OF THEM DIED 😭😭😭
4 died. 2 only managed to survive
If they are able to breed and have a net increase for each generation, it is an EXPONENTIAL growth and not a linear growth.
@@mayonmayontoo No only 2 dead
Ducks like clean water.
Amazing documentary CNA, y’all keep getting better!
I LOVE SINGAPORE THE GREEN CITY !
I love the thumbnail pic of the otter it's so cute. It looks like it's humanized and animated for a movie
Finally! A documentary about Singapore wildlife! Hope to see more of these again!
Just search Wild City Singapore and many videos are available.
I don't think Singapore has any wildlife. Humans would have destroyed it all.
@@jhowardsupporter Well then I suggest you watch some of the documentaries of Singapore and our efforts to preserve wild life. We have done well over the years where wild life are coming back and co-existing with humans.
@@PearlF1966 I lived in Malaysia for 2 years so have been to Singapore. Seen the Merlion in person. I'm watching Our Planet now which Netflix made free on UA-cam for good reason.
I really dig the urban animal documentaries.
*England:* Look at our amazing parks
*Singapore:* Hold my Monitor Lizard
England : Hold my beer
For a country that is smaller than London, I think for Singapore it's good enough
@Luca I would not trade for anything less for Singapore who could offer such a close proximity encounter with the wild. No where in the world you could have a park that has so close encounters with the crocs without a single incident of attacks from the crocs. I like a park that is AUTHENTIC and does not change it just to look nice, but able to blend in with the nature where the animals are not intruded upon.
Also Singapore and Israel are the only two countries in the world that has a net increase in wildlife. More endangered species of animals are migrating to Singapore. London and England does not have a net increase in wildlife in the past decade, Singapore has. I would not trade anything off for Singapore to have a nicer park like that of London. A nature park progress is not measured by the facade of how nice it looked, but by how well the nation planned the whole eco-system to provide water independance and yet able to have wildlife to thrive in our progress and flourish; that itself is a showcase of Singapore to the world.
@@great5grace Well said ! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Very well done CNA! Almost natgeo standard. Very insightful story of our Singapore’s wildlife. Looking forward to more documentary like this.
I want Singapore WILD BOAR story 😍

@@deschan2246 ... And the many ways how to cook its meat . Gordon Ramsay has one show on how to hunt, butchered and cooked Wild Boar meat and its yummy
Interview those displaced wild boars at Pasir Ris to get the true story. Their habitats are destroyed by human's quest for luxury life whereas those wild animals have got no place to live or hide
Wonderful documentary and narration!
I love Singapore 🙂
I love this series!!! Please continue to make more wildlife documentaries of Singapore! Would be nice to have more underwater shots!
Salute to Singapore! Such extraordinary discipline to make that wonderful success story...
Countries can learn a lot from Singapore. ❤️
They made these common sights look so special
why does it feels like natgeo.....
true, how nostalgic when I used to watch them as a kid
Omg the otter pups are unbelievably cute !! ❤❤❤😊😊😊
It take months to year to flim a wildlife documentary, thanks cna for all the hard work to make a great film!
Our waterways are clean that even a city can become habitat for wild animals.
Wow, I didn't expect the biodiversity and the quality of this video will be this good. This just prove that modern life and wildlife can get along. Bravo.
Wow.. This video was shared 1yr ago. Now its already 17 October 2022. Thanx and congratulations CNA for sharing this video with us all. This is an amazing throwback. 🇸🇬🇸🇬🕊🕊🦋🦋✌👌🤗🌻❤

I hope to one day go to Singapore for a visit. It looks like a great place.
Why is it so healing to watch turtles do yoga and sunbathing?
No idea why this showed up in my recommendations but I’m certainly not mad about it...
It's like a David Attenborough documentary minus David Attenborough
i like the little bird casually hopping over the turtle struggling to sunbathe XD @21:45

Amazing commentary. Love Singapore and their dedication to nature and human environment bond
Beautiful Singapore, I miss you so much.
Singapore fresh waterways is of great strategic importance to the country where Malaysia once threatened to cut off the fresh water supply to Singapore in the 1980s. With water recycling program, Singapore had successful cut down on it's reliance of fresh water needs from Malaysia after years of planning.
It's raw water not fresh. Tq.
@@akzmin3759
The cost of transforming raw water to clean drinkable water is so much cheaper than SEAWATER! Else why would Singapore buy RAW water from Johor? Why would Singapore Dam up with the Marina Barrage? You think Singapore had nothing better to do to spend money on that? Tq.
@@marvinfok65 You mentioned "fresh water supply to Singapore..." it is not fresh but raw. That's what I meant.
@@marvinfok65 Water agreement is tagged along with the separation agreement of Singapore from Malaya. Before water agreement ends Singapore created Newater and desalinated seawater so as not to rely raw water supply from Johor anymore.
Who gave thumbs down? Respect nature please.
They love natural, but jealous of Singapore 😄
