Look at that first step. 16th notes around the kit....legit just single strokes around the kit.....and it sounds SO clean and wonderful. With such good technique you don't even need to get into doubles to have a nice groove going. To a very green self-taught drummer, this is so fun to watch :) and you are incredibly talented Brett Clur!
I'm glad you manage to attend the Port Elizabeth Clinic. Was great to meet you too. I enjoy your channel thoroughly. Nice relaxed in your videos and inviting to watch.
Could you break it down as to what exactly are you playing? I see you’re keeping a back beat which makes sense but the rest of it needs explanation please - thanks!
The point of the exercise is to just fiddle around on the kit while sticking to the subdivision. It’s about developing your creativity. A good place to start is to play some different rudiments around the kit.
I’m going to save and practice this one, thank you!!!
your chops are so clean and tasteful. made me wanna go practice so thanks a lot for the video!:)
thanks for watching! :)

Thanks for organising, Derrick. You're a legend!
your snare sounds so good
Tama Starphonic Brass ftw
When picking the subdivisions do you play the same sticking in all subdivisions?
Love your videos! could you do an episode on Roni Kaspi?
She's incredible. Definitely need to check more of her stuff out
Your toms sound nice what line are you playing
Thanks! It's a Tama Starclassic Performer
I wondered, when you play doubles in these chops do you use your wrist or the bounce from the snare? Great video btw, keep up the good work!!
I usually use my fingers for doubles
@brettclurdrums and for the ghost notes too?

Looks easy but is not, and also to sound solid as you do.
Just gotta keep working :)
