I love my Prismacolor pencils, but invested in Polychromos about a month ago. Didn't think I could be happier, but I am. Can't get enough of pencil coloring. Thank you for sharing your adorable card and tips!
Beautiful card! And how wonderful it is to see a large area like your background colored with the polychromos and how beautifully the colors blended. I have been watching some youtube videos on the polychromos lately but was still on the fence about buying them but you've convinced me that they're the kind of colored pencils to buy. TFS, Julia!
Love your card Julia. I have been watching your videos using the Polychromos pencils as I've been pondering for a while whether or not to purchase them. I don't have a lot of $ so if I really want something that I can't stop thinking about, then and only then will I take the leap. That being said, all I can say is "I'm getting there". TFS Julia
I love your work! You've really inspired me to break out my Prismacolor pencils, and now I think they're my favourite colouring medium. I've just ordered a selection of polychromos to supplement my supplies. I've learned so much from your video, thank-you!
Beautiful card. My nephew is in Germany studying international business..I would like to visit but can not speak German.. my grand father are from there...he was a chemist. You speak English so well. Thanks for sharing your beautiful card.
beautiful work as always!! can you do some tutorials with chalk pencils? I just got a set of the stabilo ones and I'm having a lot of trouble using them!
Your card is gorgeous! I love your tutorials, you explain each step so well and your enthusiasm is wonderful! Thanks so much for all the time you spend on making art easier and fun!
I have been watching all of your videos and I truly just love how much I am learning about coloring and so much more! Thank you so much for for sharing your time and talent with us, your truly a beautiful inspiration... Hugs
Very beautiful coloring and cute stamps. I am in the market for some colored pencils but i don't know whether polychromos are best or prismacolors or something esle. So many choices! If you have any tips for choosing, i'd appreciate knowing. Thanks, Jeannine
Please check out my blog for my posts on colored pencils. I have already given tons of recommendations. (Click Polychromos or Prismacolor in the tag cloud to see all relevant posts).
Julia, your card is beautiful! I have a "technical" question: what substance is in the Polychromos pencils that makes possible the blending with the gamsol? Thank you!!
LOL you are funny and very talented. This card is amazing. I have gamsol here at home and was wondering... do you think it will work with cheap colored pencils? I don't have artist ones yet, only Crayola. Thanks in advance! :)
Well, Gamsol also works with Wax based pencils like Prismacolor. Just give it a try with your pencils and see what happens :) that's the best way to find out if it works.
Hi! Thought I'd gove you a nice tip and lay some physics on you at the same time.😊 In using CPs for years, I've learned that my colour wheel makes the best choices sometimes. In trying to cast shadows on your leaves, you're trying to do it as you see it, and we tend to think of shadows in terms of grey. But if you find the hue (proper term! Not "shade") of green you're using on the wheel, then look directly across it, you'll see red. That is the complement of green, and mathematically, they cancel each other's wavelengths, which means if you use the correct hue of red *over* the green, it will give you the exactly correct colour of grey shadow that you need! And it won't look out of place like your greys sometimes. I learned this with lots of error in painting realistic gorillas and chimpanzees. This idea works every day in the algorithm in your digital camera with the red eye function. The camera will analyse the hue of red over the eye with its intensity, or saturation, and then the algorithm will lay the correct green over it to cancel. I hope this has helped. Thanks for the video, und tschüss!
+Julia Altermann Hallo Julia, bekommt man das noch wo anders. Das Zest it ist dort ausverkauft 😢. Hätte es so gerne ausprobiert. Und danke für das tolle Video!

Oil based pencils.
Thank you.
Very pretty. Oil based pencils? hummm . I am going to have to check my pencils and see what they are. Mine do not blend that well. Thank you.

Woops I should have read the comments first! Oil based only! Still love the card and your work :)
