    2:15 - #1: ALWAYS "Adlo" the tank before every pull ("deployment tactics" usage included).
    2:55 - #2: ALWAYS use "Dissipate" at the end of pulls if you have no use for it.
    3:26 - #3: Use "Fey Union" to its fullest effect.
    4:30 - #4: Use "Sacred Soil" ... .
    5:02 - #5: Use "Recitation" on cooldown.
    5:36 - #6: Use "Whispering Dawn & "Fey Illumination" (examples included).
    6:21 - #7: How to handle "Seraph".
    7:12 - #8: "Lustrates" are important!
    7:32 - #9: Use "Chain Strategem" during pulls.
    8:01 - #10: Use "Lucid Dreaming" properly (around 8000 MP).
    8:35 - #11: Do big pulls if you can.
    9:25 - Talking about heal plans for dungeon, pull types of dungeons and skill spacing.
    13:25 - Final words and some reminders.

    Thank you very much! I just finished my SCH to 80, I didn't struggle in dungeons at all but this video taught me a few things I didn't even know. I did panic sometimes and use a few too many Adlos during large pulls but mostly that was me not trusting the tank to remember his CD's. (Which happens alot with new tanks who think they are comfortable wall to wall pulling) ..... Great video and highly reccommended! I second @James Martin's comment. Dissipation between pulls BESTTIP! As someone who is still leveling scholar and is playing it as their first healer I have a few things to say; it really surprised me how well I could handle bigger pulls that I did not think I was ready for. I did not have the confidence to do big pulls, but absolutely had the tools to make it work. Yes it got a little crazy at times but if no one is dead then I say it went alright, even if it could have gone better. If you are new to healing but have a decent understanding of the game, don't be afraid of some bigger pulls. You won't know if you are or aren't ready until you try them. Good luck and have fun everyone!

    The last time I used SCH for actual content was way back in Coil Turn 5. With each expansion, SCH became more and more daunting for me to learn how to play properly as I was often changing jobs to fill in for raid groups. I recently started to level it again and my first Holminster run was a harrowing experience. Perhaps it was also due to the tank mass pulling without using CDs, but I knew that I was doing something wrong. This video popped up just at the right time. The use of Dissipation and what abilities to pair with on each pull worked wonders. Just hit 73 but I'm already more confident in healing. Thank you for making this vid~

      As someone who mains tank(drk) and loves to speed run dungeons, that pull is impossible without a premade group even with proper mitigation and tbn use. Even if I ask the healer before attempting that pull and they've says they're comfortable with it, some panic and we end up wiping. I've done it successfully a few times, but only with pre-formed parties.

  • @Gogoglovitch

    I'm a fairly new player, and I've mostly tanked and played some DPS, but I've been interested in doing all four Role Quests in Shadowbringers, so I've been leveling Scholar. This video is fascinating, informative, and well-thought out... but I'm really intimidated by healing, and this just reinforces that. Tanking always strikes me as relatively easy -- know the fight, keep control of everything, use your defense cool downs wisely, pull as much as you can handle but no more, and keep your damage numbers up. Healing, on the other hand -- to begin with, it emphasizes knowing the fight from a completely different direction. It requires you to keep track of not only mechanics and damaging the enemy, but also the health of everyone else in the party. It can vary wildly depending on your party -- if the tank misses a cooldown or one of the DPS keeps standing in the fire, you have to notice that and react or even predict their actions. And failure on the other jobs just seems more recoverable than for healing -- if you DPS poorly, the fight takes longer; if you don't pick up an enemy right away as tank you can grab it as soon as you notice, and if you use your cooldowns poorly the healer might be able to cover for you. If you fumble as a healer, someone probably dies.
    And, of course, actually getting practice as a healer requires making three or seven other players depend on you. DPS and Tanks can learn a lot of their most important skills with solo practice.
    If it weren't for your bit at the end about 'only do what you're comfortable with,' I might be intimidated out of healing altogether. There was definitely some really good advice in there, some of which I've absorbed and will be making use of, but then I look at your pre-mapping out healing rotations for each step of a dungeon and I just sort of cower in fear at the complexity. Still, I'm only level 50 so far. I'm going to keep at it, and keep looking in at this video as I level, and hopefully I'll be ready to take more of it in each time... if I have the confidence, at least. Keep up the good work!

    • @FFXIVMomo
      @FFXIVMomo  5 років тому

      It's really not as intimidating as it seems here! Not many if any really care about mapping out a dungeons and they are fairly easy once you get the hang of the game :D the healing rotations at the end just serve as examples!

      @RealLotus002 5 років тому

      I think you're panicking a little too much over a surprisingly easy job to really pull off. Your adloquium + Excogitation make your life 100x easier; a giant tip when playing healer in dungeons and trials, pay your attention to 3 things: The main tank, the main boss' attacks/attack progress, and your mana count.
      Lucid Dreaming's been SUPER buffed; always pop it when you're at roughly 70% MP, there's no real worry in popping it, ESPECIALLY on SCH since your Aetherflow points are free healing. I always focus on just using my Aetherflow spells on SCH until I reach 100 on my Fairy Gage, to which I just kinda pop Fae Union to the tank to focus on other DPS' if they happen to be stumbling on mechanics. Remember that if you ever run out of mana as SCH, DON'T PANIC! You have SO MANY TOOLS to counter act this, I personally think it's one of the better healing classes in the game so far!
      If you ever run out of mana, you can always use Aetherflow.
      If you ever run out of Aetherflow, you can always use Dissipation.
      If Dissipation is down, you always have your Fairy Spells to aid you (Aetherpact, Fey Blessing, Fey Illumination).
      If your Fairy Spells are down for WHATEVER reason, RECITATION IS YOUR FRIEND!
      If you're wondering WHEN you should be focusing on DPS, keep an eye on the Tank's health bar. If it's at 50% or under, then you should start healing. If it's not, then don't sweat it too much! (Unless there's 10+ mobs in the same target, to which ALWAYS focus on hard healing if that's the case)

      Most scholars don't because they don't like their faerie disappearing. While the reason is understandable, I personally believe the +3 AF stacks and 20% healing rate increase is a very good trade off. Combined with recitation and emergency tactics, an adlo would heal for ridiculous amounts of hp - even better yet if you have swiftcast available for that adlo. There's so much you can do with another 3 AF stacks on top of your normal 3.
      Plus, the faerie now automatically returns when dissipation is finished.

    As a SCH main gotta say this is pretty good of a rundown of how to effectively use the Aetherflow. Only thing I have noticed that was understated in this is assuming the tanks will mitigate for pulls, i have found that most tanks won't anymore because healers are only supposed to be healing now. The more I play new Scholar, the more I realize how amazing these new abilities would have been with our old kit. Seriously, if they had just kept Scholars kit the same (keeping the Critlo Nerf) and given us these new abilities it would have been hands down the best iteration of the job ever. Energy Drain and Dissipation would have felt super amazing, Miasma II would have been a slick damage weaver for how the new healing works; you would have had a legit choice between using Shadowflare and SS that would have been awesome, and Seraph with Single Target macro's still available would have been crazy intense awesome.
    While I am working with what I have and can appreciate some of the changes, I just feel like Scholar got unnecessarily pruned Playstyle wise for no real reason. (I dont care about potencies and this and that, I care about the jobs flow and hierarchy of abilities, which just now devolves into mash oGCD's)

    • @turntapeover5749
      @turntapeover5749 5 років тому +1

      Critlo is actually buffed on single target, only nerfed on deployment, but the fact that they split galvanize and catalyze means you can reapply galvanize on top of catalyze using deployment on the adlo you would cast on yourself like the example he gives in the video. Not to mention that Seraph shield and Celestial shield all stack together. So at some point its overkill. That being said, a deployed crit adlo still has around 20-25k dmg absorption value on every target depending on your gear ilvl. I mean it's still the strongest AoE mitigation in the game, its not like it's become complete garbage. It's just not OP. Also, ruin 2 has been buffed to 200 potency, so Miasma 2 sorta lost its purpose as a dmg weaver, not to mention how inconvenient it is to have to be next to the target to actually weave it in some movement heavy situations, and as a dungeon aoe its been replaced by AoW. We had more DPS abilities before because scholar didnt heal. Now it does. I mean I miss bane in dungeons, sure, but I can apply my dot while the tank is pulling instead since I just got 1 and not suffer that Bane stupid Dmg fallout on multiple targets. So what did we lose really? Miasma and Shadow flare. It's really not as big a deal as people make it out to be. I was complaining to get ED back because if there's 1 ability i actually mourned its this one, we got it back, so Im happy, and I think this is the best iteration of scholar so far, if not of all healers period.

      you'll learn the runs, you will get comfortable with knowing what you can do even with PUG tanks who are trying wall to walls undergeared (cause healer adjust). In the end, I let the first pull tell me where the DPS and tank is and then I adjust my own DPS from there. Sometimes you get a good tank who will listen. Sometimes you don't. Don't let it get to you. take each run as a learning experience. the more comfortable you get with the dungeon, the higher geared you go, the more things will start to fall into place and you will find yourself dpsing without worrying about MP

      Divine Benison is on a 30 second CD. It should be used on CD, basically.
      Temperance is on a 2 minute CD, you can use this every other pull. It reduces damage AND increases healing done. Don’t forget this!
      Holy has a stun, but I wouldn’t recommend casting the first two in a row, as you cut off the original stun. You can cast Holy, cast a GCD spell(Glare,Dia,Cure2, whatever) then cast holy again. It maximizes stun uptime.
      Presence of Mind can be used when your tank is taking too much damage! Quicker heals!
      Thin Air is an AWESOME CD! Use it whenever you get the chance, but is super helpful after you get raised, or if you’re trying to keep your mana high. I often use this coupled with Presence of Mind at the beginning of pulls/bosses/raids to squeeze in some extra damage.
