If new world comes to console. I feel like it would be a good impact. Due to the fact we could have a lot more players on different platforms. If they make it corssplay too. Which means less time to wait for expedition
Do you really think after 3 years of this game being out console players are itching to play this game? I really don’t think so. How many people do you know who have both PCs and consoles? Most of the people I know have both and they aren’t interested in this game at all. Console players also have very different gaming habits than pc players. All the strictly console players I know are on console for games like modern warfare or other niche games. Most console players playing an mmo are probably on ffxiv anyway which is much more worth your daily time invest then new world.
@@aortenzio If they did a free launch on console, it could make a big impact. Either way, it should of been on console from launch.

@@TyLudian and just because something is free doesn’t mean people will try it. And just because they try it doesn’t mean they will get invested in it and this is a game you absolutely must be invested in to play more than just the story line.
If they don’t make it crossplay it’s pretty much a waste

I REALLY don't understand why we have the shard system implemented at a time when the player-base is so small. Unless they are aiming for a one-mega-server via the use of shards, otherwise I don't understand their thinking.

Talk to me when the game has just one mega server. Sharding is nice but a mega server would make more sense.
That’s where I think this could be headed if not opening up servers to support way more people and perhaps way more zones

@@gingerlovesmmos true but I hope they do it sooner than later. For me this is their time to shine to prove to everyone this is a good game and come join us. A mega server will unite everyone and would make the game more alive. I swear all MMOs should do this instead of the fragmented servers some have.

As if Que times is an issue right now when player count is at a lethal level of low.
They invested in Star Citizens Server Meshing at the moment they are hoping to get 800 people by the end of Next year.
The server meshing test haven't been great, tho. The 200 player one went well, but the ones after that were unplayable.

Does this sharding system address max server population at all or is this just an interim step? I have a hard time seeing how this really makes any difference if you're still going to have servers start with hi population and die over time... If they were to combine the entire player base into a single server and get rid of multiple, then I don't see how that would work with the territory game if they had a decent world population.
The last time I played New World...I quit because the only way to really be competitive in the territory game was basically to RMT. They had daily items from the faction vendor that you needed to buy regularly using both gold and tokens in order to have the mats to upgrade gear. I quit because even though I was playing a ton, I was just losing more and more gold over time because I couldn't afford to buy the daily items for upgrades... I had a decent, but not a BIS pvp set for wars... and I was a support role, so I had to also have totally different gear for every other type of content in the game. This sharding doesn't address any of the reasons I quit and if anything it might even make them worse over time (by further encouraging rmt). I think New World has like 75% good ideas, and 25% horrible ideas.
The horrible ideas usually consisted of choosing the worse possible methods to introduce bottlenecks of some kind into the game. Whether it was economic with these daily gold sinks or whether it was an issue of time with the old territory control system... or several other annoyances... they have not been able to balance the resistance tied to the bottleneck to keep it fun. They take 4 steps forward and simultaneously take an absolutely massive step backwards... not that I really know because it's been quite a while now since I had any desire to play.
The one good thing that could come from sharding would be an idea I've wanted them to add for a long time, which would be the ability for a company to have its own private island similar to what Albion Online has.
Not that my opinion matters much as a casual, but it was events that killed the game for me. I was very frustrated running to the event boss at random locations on the world map only to find the boss dead, rinse repeat. I just hated searching for the event boss icon frantically so I could get there in time to get a few hits in to get credit. Also, having to find a pickup group by typing "x" in chat to me seems a bit archaic of a system just to get event boss credit. So, that's really what drug the experience down for me. I wanted the drops from the Events I just dreaded the hoops I had to go through to get them.
ww was always fine for me, only town i saw with issues was brimstone's city.. not played for a while i forget its name..
they’ll announce console on friday but hopefully it drops within the year
Whatever happens Friday is going to make or break it for me to come back. Right now just killing time on Black Desert in the mean time.

The small limit for each server is one of the major root causes for this game losing people. When each server depends on players for content yet there are only 1000 people on the server, people start to quit and then it just continues to get worse and worse. If they can maintain full servers with this sharding thing it will definitely help keep people around.
many have been saying they should move to megaservers and shards for years, hopefully it's where they're aiming.

I hope they learn a lot with new world and give us a great lotr mmorpg. Im at a point where im kind of done with the new world grind and will probably just wait until they release their next game. Gw3, lotr mmorpg. I wait for those and until then, path of exile 2 will probably keep me entertained.

World pop per server is 2750 I believe. So if all 3.8k players were on one world, you’d see a queue. But this is tech setting up for a rush of new players

OP bowPR amd bots. sutekh is at 50 players. ALL BOTS

Hopefully AGS is learning how ESO runs an MMO and they are working towards being able to handle any amount of players. I’m looking forward to lord of the rings as well.

Like 4k players lol such a shame bc it was my go to MMO. Shards lmao they need to combine the dang servers while there are people still playing. The world is too massive for barely 1000 people on the most populated server. You never see anyone out unless it’s a main city. Terrible mmo
tldr news, there is not anything interesting coming up, sad to see how this game ended up, all the huss huss secret june release was just because they knew they dont have anything new coming up, its graveyard shift for year ot two before they gonna rip the plug off for good launch was fun even with all the bugs
whats the use of shards? game is so dead that peak players cant even fill 3 servers max and there are literally 12 servers in total.
Lord of the rings will use the same game engine. I definitely wont be playing it.
