See, this is how the set should have come in the box! LEGO is like the one company where the fans are much much better builders than LEGO's designers are. This is an excellent build!
While i agree the build is better, you have to remember a couple factors. 1. Lego designers have much stricter rules and processes to go through than a random joe with a youtube channel. 2. All the changes this guy made likely doubled the price count, and not every set can be an 80+$ wallet rinser. You have to remember a lot of lego fans are kids on limited finances, for whom this set might even be too expensive most of the year. I know you were trying to praise the uploader, but idk, saying a fan moc is "how this set should have been in the first place" kinda feels dickish, when it comes to a set that already actually looks really good

I love the chainsaw. It looks like some serious tool that can also be used as a weapon to deal with hostile alien creatures 😃 Also, I have an extra idea for the other hand. If it was equipped with a jackhammer, it would make the mech more epic, and it suits the mining job, too 😁
Excellent renovation, as always. One thing even popped an idea for how to add climbing rungs on a rework of the Hydra Stomper (thanks for that). One of the best things about seeing these builds now is wondering when your kiddo will put his spin on it!
Honestly the design is perfect but I like it when the robot is in there I’m not hating I just like when the robot is in the mech because it looks more robotic then it being controlled by a human mini figure but excellent job though🎉🎉
Two things that I like about this redesign, one, that new saw looks badass, two, I love how proportionally they're very similar

The arch for the cockpit looks so nice. Great design decision.
I also like that you are using the light grey background so the model is more visible.

I actually like it the way it was and plus it could fit a minifigure just with nothing on it’s back unless it’s small
you still could put minifigures in the normal cockpit it actually works but the new cockpit still looks good

My upgrade was getting 31058 and merging the two together. Do not regret it, now it can fight my combo dragon of 31102 and 31073
