He was unbelievable. I think my heart almost stopped when he started to sing. I waited 20 years to hear him sing in person and it was worth every second of that time!
I saw this original London production 3 times - it was incredible! The set and projections were brilliant and innovative. So seamless and beautiful. Do not believe detractors. This show was very moving and powerful. I have seen Love Never Dies and they are very different. Loved the Australian production immensely. The Woman in White deserves to be staged again. Like Sunset.
im from estonia and i saw it in 2006 in england and was amazed by it... my favourite musical of all times. after the show i bought the cd-s, with the whole musical and have been listening it a lot. i know it by heart and sing along mostly when im driving the car alone:) the best.
WOW! wow wow wow! It´s amazing how you can see all the pain in Marian´s face while she is sing her song of doubt of what concerns Laura. It goes right to my soul to see how the pain crosses her face. AMAZING!
thanks posting this, i hadn't seen it before. i absolutely love ALW,MC,and MF! they are all very talented. i'm sad the show closed because I never got to see it.
@CSIFanGirl84 I got to see The Woman In White in London. Therefore, I saw it before they revamped the minimal set pieces, reshaped the stage, and revamped the projections. I thought this was a great musical and, although seemed a bit raw as the technical side goes, was executed extremely well. I had the privilege of seeing Michael Ball as Count Fosco, and to be honest, I think I saw the best Fosco. Ball revolutionized the role after Crawford couldn't continue from being sick...
I was in the first row for this show (not enough tickets sold that day so my friend and i were upgraded) I ended up right next to a woman who wrote a horrible review of it for her local paper. At least I enjoyed it (although the book was better)
I feel like the music in Love Never Dies borrows VERY heavily from this, and it drives me nuts; every time I hear LND, it reminds me of this. :/ Aaaaandrew!
Honestly, when I saw the show the first month it was showing in London I was both pleased and disappointed. They were trying to attempt something new with the sets, which I applaud, but I do not think this was the show to do it. Maybe a more modern setting would have worked. The music itself, however, was typical ALW: very moving, very predictable, but very nicely put together. The acting of the stars and the rest of the show was exactly why you go out to the theater: a nice night out.
Did they put MC in a fat suit for this? He was much thinner (though still a little tubby) in Dance of the Vampires, and needless to say Phantom, but that was twenty years ago.
I like so much of the music and performances from this show, but it looks unbelievably bland. I'm not even complaining about the projections, but more the fact that there seems to be absolutely no movement ninety percent of the time. People are just standing around, singing, without a sense of purpose or motion. Close your eyes, and the show is beautiful. It just could have been staged better.

Brilliant musical. And I can't praise the novel enough - it's a wonderful piece of literature.

I'm going to need a DVD of this stat!

Thank you :)
Yeah- I agree. Something simple would have done wonders, using the lighting to change the atmosphere and scene.
The costumes thought are fab,

Do you mean they changed the production when it went on Broadway?
Michael Crawford is simply brilliant
@shmoogle14 can we petition ALW to have this released on DVD?
Is there a full video of this...
3:00 do you think ALW took some of LND music from this. or based it off of this?

umm no he's not. She meets them both together at the end of act I in the show, I haven't read the book for a bit so I'm a little unsure about that

Yup. He was in a fat suit for this. MC sure is dedicated. He apparently overheated several times in the fat suit.

Clearly a great number of departures from the novel. What a shame!
What is the name of the song on 5:00?
Apparently they thought they were doing something they thought was cool with projectors. For some scenes it works better I guess (train scene, ect)
Oh my god, that Walter Hartright is SO good-looking....! :D
this is a little bit painful to watch, i hope it was better live
Wow, who plays Walter? He's cute!

omg
The Funeral
When does Anne meet both Laura and Marian? And, this Hartright is constantly out of tune.
