    I adore Slave to Nothing.
The only reason I haven't gotten a copy was because the tour (in 2018) didn't have any records to sell
I adored the melody that came with the album, and it also gave that staple of fit for a king being a band that does new sounds with each album.
With this video, it's definitely understandable, but Id love to hear imposter, young & undeserving, or even selfish eyes played live.

I can see how maybe it wasn't a commercial success. It was a little less cohesive than the albums that came after it. That's part of what I love about it. The focus seems to be more on each song than the album as a whole. I love listening to STN on my hour commute precisely because it sounds like a mix.
Y'all have really matured in your albums since then, and your work has been fantastic. You've said before that it's hard to pick set lists because more of your songs are increasingly popular. I don't know the first thing about making a "good" set list from a business standpoint, but I think a throwback set would be awesome! Introduce new people to your older stuff and showcase where you started. I would love to hear Imposter, Forever Unbroken, and (unpopular opinion?) even Selfish Eyes.

2 things: Slave to nothing was a hell of a meme at warped tour when you guys were doing 10 dollar pre orders on a wide ruled notebook. I liked you guys so I bought the pre-order fully expecting to potentially not get the CD and I was ok with that. The album didn't even publicly have a name at that time. Come down the line to October and all the sudden a whole week before the album released this cd shows up in my mailbox. 16 year old me was rather happy. One of my favorite FFAK records for certain. The emotional drive is raw and unrelenting. It might not sound like your most polished work, but it sounds powerful. You guys should feel proud of it even if the process isn't your favorite memory. Now to my 2nd point, please get it repressed on vinyl. I made a poor choice to not obtain it when the price had not become inflated to about 700% the original retail for a sealed copy. So yeah more vinyls pretty please. Also you guys need to swing thru Fargo, ND. I've lived here almost 6 years and never seen a show listed for ND

In my opinion, Slave to Nothing is y'all's best album. I hope you don't take this the wrong way but after Deathgrip, I started to feel like the albums started to become a bit formulaic/boring. Some great tracks on them, don't get me wrong, but they didn't intrigue me the way that Slave to Nothing (and Descendants, my second favorite FFAK album) did. As a guy who came into the metalcore genre from progressive and power metal, having something far more melodic and even progressive really appealed to me.
I understand that it's less popular but I just feel like StN definitely had the most unique, fresh sound you guys have had overall. I get it, though: you found your niche with metalcore that leans very strongly into deathcore territory and if that's what the fans like the most, then that's what they want. I just wish that more people saw how great StN actually is!

So I know I'm late to the comments with this but I'm so sad about this album not being received well! I hope this doesn't discourage yall to put powerful, Christian messages in your songs! (As I really want to see more)
Also, what is the meaning of Selfish Eyes? I still haven't figured it out. What do the lines even mean?

What are the actual lyrics at 1:07 of “Hooked”? It does not sound like Tuck is singing “and you admit to me that you’re the one to blame”

Slave to nothing is by far your best album honestly, these past 2 albums really is not my jam so I look back at Slave to nothing a lot since it’s the album that got me into fit for a king. Creation/destruction is a really good one as well and I feel like that one never gets the time of day either

Some of the best lyrics, riffs, and drum parts from your band are on STN. Like, night and day difference from your newer stuff. But that’s just my personal opinion 🤷‍♂️ I get that other records have done better

But Ryan, don't you think that playing Slave to nothing on live shows could, on the other side, increase the album sells? Even if you place only one song in every show... It may encrease the popularity of Slave to Nothing. I'm almost sure... Live shows are amazing opportunities for let an old album or an old song reborn 😊 or not?
    God bless u,
    Thank u

I have mixed feelings about the record. Honestly I didn't really liked it when it came out. It didn't have the punch of the albums before. I figured since I'm a bit into music production that it was the production itself I didn't like. It sounds like there was to much compression on the master channel. Also I couldn't really hear much of the lower bass frequencies.
However there were great tracks on the record like Slave To Nothing :).

I just think you guys will avoid any songs that had any kind of close relation to God. You don't play anything anymore from any of the older albums that made yall.

I put out a devotional in 2020 to distance myself from God, rightttttt
Which in that devotional you’ll read how I was overcompensating for my bad life choices by writing super Christian lyrics.
And they didn’t “make us”. They were important albums for sure, but they’re not what made our band what it is today, Slave To Nothing was our least popular album put out with a label, by far.

@@ryankirbz said "you guys". Not you individually. I don't know if anyone but maybe you and Dan that might still be Christians in the band. I understand that your set list is most likely the most successful songs. But, as for all the people in the comments defending slave to nothing. It possibly wouldn't be such a bad thing to play some of those songs regardless of clout lol.

Regarding your comment about Christians in the band. I've had the pleasure and privilege of conversing with Trey a number of times. He is also a Believer who loves the Lord and I've had a chance to pray with him as well. I pray for these guys all the time when I'm listening to their music. It's important to keep them lifted up in prayer to stay strong in their faith in the face of the endless challenges and temptations and all of the evil in the music world.

@@PK-ep8nj sad thing is they band kicked out a bass player they had before slave to nothing because he liked to "drink" upon meeting the kid. He was such a humble person and so kind. Yet, due to his irrational behaviors like "drinking" they kicked him out for not being the image the band is....
Then they get tuck. Who literally is a complete asshole if you dare argue any point to him. Idk much about their new drummer. That's cool that he believes. I'm sure tuck says the same thing. Hell, I've seen crackheads in Dallas yelling about Jesus on the corners. Lol 😆
