- 【 網中人 】充滿自信的程緯（周潤發飾）大學畢業後，在玉福珠寶公司工作，表現出眾，更與太子女方希文（鄭裕玲飾）熱戀。惜好景不常，程緯為幫母償賭債，竟盜取公款，被野心勃勃的阮其昌（李道洪飾）揭發。程緯無奈入獄，希文亦傷心離港，而養家的重擔，使落在剛由大陸來港的程緯弟程燦（廖偉雄飾）身上。
後程緯出獄，得好友賀雋（任達華飾）介紹，進入其姊賀縈（繆騫人飾）之夜總會工作。另一方面，賀雋傾慕新晉女星區曉華（歐陽珮珊飾）多年，後更與程緯合力替曉華擺脫花花公子的魔掌。
惜賀縈不幸在車禍中身亡，而曉華得程緯悉心開解，二人互生情懷。此時，希文因父病危返港，與程緯重逢，舊情復熾，程緯、希文、曉華三人關係頓糾纏不清…後希文在其父死後接掌公司工作，但此時公司已由其昌控制。希文在逆境中得程緯復出協助，與其昌週旋到底，將其醜行一一揭破。

The actress who acted as a mom is one of the TVB actress.

Just felt it imperative to highlight some of my observations here please regarding this early-days-yet second episode (and truly, grateful thanks Uploader for releasing access to your links for us here in Singapore, where Chinese dialect programmes on our national tv stations have not been available since 1Jan 1983).
i) Sharp-eyed discerning viewers would have noticed the abrupt change in "Ah Chan's" hair length (and differently combed as well) as he cycles down the countryside dirt path (24.20 mins) with his two kidnappers sandwiching him front and back, en route to claiming his abduction-release ransom from his family. Clearly this frame was shot at least a few weeks from the scene just a minute earlier when Ah Chan was still held hostage in that dingy hideout. Director's oversight or what? We may never know the real reason here unless the production team (if they are still alive) or Chan himself clarifies today (or maybe he already did so all those years ago). It's a bit jolting because when he is then released in the presence of his family members, he is back to his short hairdo!
ii) It was of course a very firm decision on the part of the director/script that they chose not to have Ah Chan going hysterical and screaming/blabbering frantically to the three police officers at the checkpoint of his being kidnapped, and the ensuing apprehension of the gangsters. But curiously, should not identity papers have been demanded of the (suspicious-looking) trio, since such a document has to be carried by the individual outdoors?
iii) Simon Yam Tak Wah's slip and landing on his bum on the wet ground after leaping over the guardrail at the football stadium was definitely not planned for but an unintended happenstance I vouch. But it sure made for dramatic quotient and so a tweak to the prepared script became necessary when he announced subsequently to Chow and Carol that he "needed to be excused to clean up first". Such minor incidents/mishaps do occur of course (Case in point : in one of Patrick Tse Yin's early b/w films - can't recall the title, apologies - he tripped and nearly lunged forwards but maintained his balance and calm posture while proceeding with the shoot inside this huge mansion, taking everything in his stride, as with Simon above). To have yelped "Oh Dear!" etc would have been unprofessional by the industry's convention/standards. Actually, trainee actors are taught this very instinctive nonchalance.
iv) The very first encounter between Guan Hoi San and the most unwelcome gate/party-crashing Tam Beng Mun already reeks of animosity and sinister premonition, without disclosing any background antecedents, while keeping the audience on edge. Now, that's absolutely top-notch, exquisite story pacing!
v) Abduction and ransom demands in my country (Singapore) carries the death penalty (noose hanging) as prescribed in our Penal Code. In extenuating cases where mitigating factors allow for a lessening of the punishment as ruled by the Judge, it's an enhanced jail term and caning (for medically fit males 50 years and younger). Females are spared the cane. HK under British Administration did not condone capital execution or corporal punishment. But now that Mainland China has tightened the legal loopholes regarding treacherous criminal transgressions committed on the ex-British colony's soil, prompted by the violent street protests in 2019 and 2020 over honoring democratic rights and autonomous freedoms, the death sentence as instituted on the mainland will apply too for residents of the "Fragrant Harbour". I believe it's death by a firing squad. All such potential capital cases are now heard by courts in Beijing. Thanks.

I remember watching this as a kid.
I still don’t get why the person is turned into a vampire or ghost in the opening since the show is not a supernatural show? 😜

That guy is really freaking funny. How he's eating and certainly he reacts screamed mom i must right now to go pooping!! I'm dead. His facial expressions is everything sooo magnificent. His acting skills are pure talented just like as amazing. For me they are absolutely awesome actors and actrices. What they always say :"The good old days!" We'll always remember it.
