In my theory Michael separated Sam's soul from the body to give him some time in peace, once he couldn't get Lucifer from his body, and that's why Cas bring just the body back.

First off, disclaimer: as of today, I'm not yet updated with the rest of season 15. Only saw this episode last night. So glad they were able to bring Jake Abel back. So glad they brought Adam/Michael back. :D I agree with the general idea. I'm guessing, to Adam it was only around 10 years because Michael probably let him out to the surface only some of the time, not all of the time. Maybe Michael let Adam "sleep off" most of it (to put it in a nicer way :P ). I don't think Jimmy really knew how much time passed when Cas first took over. He probably only found out it's been a year or so when he got out. So perhaps, one basis of Adam saying 10 years is that the date on today's newspaper, is more or less 10 years from the time they fell into the Cage... Anyway, it seems to me, this is the best vessel-angel relationship we've seen. Nothing like how Raphael treated his vessel. That was probably the worst, where we saw what Cas meant by burning out the vessel. Lucifer enjoys toying with his vessel (Sam). :P And the rest of the angels, including Cas, just take over completely. The only one i remember who let the vessel take over at times, was Gadreel with Sam. But Sam was unaware then, so there was deception there. Oh, and also alternate Michael with Dean, but only for a short time, and he tricked him, eventually taking control completely. I imagine in the first years, Michael may have done the same thing most angels do (take over completely). But maybe as time went by, and especially after Lucifer got out, he realized he was really alone, except for this human he's possessing, and he started talking with him... And he started to appreciate him, and respect him, and maybe even grow fond of him. I really liked the scene in the diner when he told Adam, "go for it, kid". That was awesome. :) This Michael is definitely way better than the other one. :P I hope there's more of them in the next episodes. I'll find out soon enough, I guess. I mean he didn’t really have any way to measure how much time had passed in the cage, he didn’t even need to sleep, so when he got out and found out it had been 10 earth years it may have felt longer but it would make sense for him to have just accepted it.

That's 9 years and 7 months, we'll round it up to 10 years for now to make things easier. If 1 month on earth = 10 years in hell, that means 1 year on earth is 120 years in hell. Multiply that by 10. You get 1200 (there ya go), but now we subtract those 5 months (50 years) that we added earlier. So that's *1150 years in hell* give or take. Then again, there's a missing year between seasons 5 and 6, and Adam/Michael could've gotten out at the end of 14x20 when Chuck released the souls from hell. That was April 2019, which adds up to 107 months or *1070 years in hell* since Swan Song. In 15x01, Belphegor said the cage was opened so I thought they were gonna look for Adam right then and there, but alas. Anyway, Bel said as far as he knew, Michael was "just sitting" in the cage and 15x08 made it seem like he JUST got out. So that brings the number back up to 1150. *I just rounded it down to 1000 and called it a day lmao*

I wish we could go back and rewrite the entirety of season 14 to include Adam and Michael going up against otherworld Michael, while Jack tries to control his powers in the background because he wants to help and doesn't trust either Michael, and Mary still dies, Chuck still shows up and tries to box Dean and Sam into killing Jack, and the story still ends where it did, but we had more Adam and Michael for longer.

My personal theory about time in hell is that the rack (the place Dean was sent to) had purposely sped up time, because the point of it was to corrupt souls into demons as fast as possible. While places like the cage and Crowleys’s palace had normal earth time, because there was no point in having sped up time in the cage if it was designed to keep Lucifer there for a eternity.

I mean Adam was with Michael and they seem like besties so, but by the time Sam and Lucifer went to the cage Lucifer was pretty feed up with Sam so he definitely had it worse than Adam. Adam was trapped but it was with Michael not Lucifer.

Lemme get this straight: When trying to kill Amara they needed an archangel, and Lucifer gave Sam visions to get him to "open" the cage. But at no point after that, even when Rowena came back to life, did they do it again to let Michael/Adam out to 1. Help deal with Amara and 2. Kill Lucifer. With how much calmer Michael got, I think Dean could have been persuaded to say yes for a time, and then let Michael just go back to Heaven.
