"I am chosen..." is this a reformed song?
Wouldn’t you say that anyone who professes faith in Christ is chosen? I think the next line of the song puts it in context - ‘not forsaken’
Listened to this song again, such good reformed theology in the lyrics:
1. "Who am I that the highest King would welcome me?" and "While I lost and a slave to sin...Jesus died for me" :recognition of sin and unworthiness, bound and in bondage to sin, unable to free ourselves: Doctrine of Total Depravity.
2. "Whom the Son sets free is free indeed" :Only God can set us free (Martin Luther, Bondage of the Will) :Salvation is a monergistic act of God alone wherein he calls his own to repentance and faith.
3. "I am chosen, not forsaken, I am who you say I am", Romans 9 God chose Jacob before he was born, before he had done neither good nor bad. Israel was a chosen nation. This is God's sovereignty in salvation, : Doctrine of unconditional election.
4. "In my Father's house there's a place for me". This is spoken with confidence, based on the fact that salvation rests not on us and our whimsical tendencies to stray, but on God himself who has promised never to leave us nor forsake us; from election to justification to glorification(Romans 8). Our faith is secure in Him. : Doctrinal of the Perseverance of the Saints.

Point 3 does not stand alone from verse 8:29. Everything that God says from chapter 6 thru 9 is a continual thought. Those He foreknew He predestined and predestined to be conformed not saved. Those He foreknew would be saved He predestined to be conformed to His image. It is all based on foreknowledge. If you read what the dictionary says about sovereign, it does not say controls all things, and neither does the Bible. Knowing those who wrote the song I would say that this is a "Biblical" song not a "reformed" song
[Rom 8:29 KJV] 29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate [to be] conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Would have been better with the D-28 but awesome never the less.
