Average looking? But that's the point. Average guys can be pop stars, too. What, does everyone have to look like Justin Bieber? Does everyone have to look perpetually photoshopped? I think the average person watching this is going to look more like him than Justin Bieber. Why would that be a bad thing? People are so out of touch with reality. He looks more down to earth than most pop stars, and that's a +1 in my book. However I wish he'd forgo this dancing nonsense. He's an average dancer, maybe slightly above average. When it comes to dancing in pop music videos, you do need to be well above average, or at least do something creative and/or very stylish. He does none of those things. It's all mediocre and boring. Austin, if you read this, as an amateur dancer, I recommend that you intensively improve your dancing or try something more creative to differentiate yourself from the rest. Just get a private dance instructor and spend 6-12 months working hard on your dancing. Maybe even longer. If you've already done that, do it again because you need the improvement. I've been dancing non-intensively for over 2 years, and I just look like an average dancer (swing dance and blues dance). If I intensively practiced my dancing and took lessons for at least 2 more years, I'd be good enough to stand out in a video. As a partner dancer, I see a perspective of other dancers that you can't see in a video or performance. You can only see it by dancing WITH someone. I can tell how good a dancer is by how they feel, not merely by how they look. And I can tell you that when people consistently practice dancing for 5+ years, almost all of them look and feel like amazing dancers. It's not all about talent. A lot of it is just devotion. It really doesn't take that much to stand out in this world where few people know how to dance at all. If you really wanna stand out, you might try partner dancing as well. That's something pop stars don't do - and I don't know why. By the way, Bill Nye the Science Guy swing dances in my city. I've seen him. :)
