    Here is an example of the value of the chipper. I used the 37 degree Cleveland Niblick and played the 1st round of my league’s match play tournament. After 17 holes, it was all even. On the per 5 18th hole, we were both 2ft off the green in high grass. I popped my Niblick onto the green and ran the ball up to 8 inches from the hole. My opponent chunked it 6 inches with a wedge and still off the green. Then he chunked it again and resigned the hole and the match. The power of the chipper is undeniable. The three most important clubs in my bag are the driver (Cleveland deep faced classic), the putter (triple track Odessey), and the Cleveland 37 degree Niblick. The chipper takes the frustration out of the game of golf and increases the joy.

    Currently rely on this Smart Sole 4 Cleveland Chipper (42), their Smart Sole 4 Gap (50) and Sand (58). It's really all you need if you are trying to simplify short game. I do slot their CBX2 46 degree wedge in the bag for full and 3/4 swing situations. Strangely the CBX2 50 and CBX2 54 are on standby right now. The 54 was heavily relied on for short game for about a year and a half, but I switched up to being more bump and run with this chipper. Yes you can do some fun things with the club from inside 75 yards if needed. Also, you can never have too many Cleveland wedges in black satin.

    Got the Cleveland. Makes me chip a lot straighter down the desired line. Probably my 3rd most used club on average, so it’s easy to find room in the bag for it 👍🏻

    Ping chipr*****
    2nd year golfing, made my first 10 birdies last summer. 5 of them with the chipr.
    Around the green in the light rough, I made some long ones with curved greens trusted my line like a putting stroke and the magic happened.
    You have to practice a bit of course to get the feel and tempo right but I love it.
    I am good with it for longer shots ad well when I don't trust my sandwedge or gap.

    My Mother who played golf in 1930s told me when I spoke about a chipper and showed he she said that is a Jigger. I have seen some old clubs in club in Scotland and there was a Jigger so it was used years ago but name changed now. I have the Odyssey X-act and it take some practice to get used to it. Very useful on Scottish Links courses.

    I have the Cleveland chipper and it is awesome. I can hit full shots with it as well, which makes it more versatile than other chippers. It goes the same distance as my gap wedge, so I took the gap wedge out of my bag so I didn't have to waste a club. You can take any other club out of my bag that you want, and I can replace it. But, you can't have this one (as a matter of fact, I love it so much that I bought another one to store, just in case they become too hard to find in case I lose mine!

      I have a square strike style 45*. Nice wide sole, good weight to the head, and an upright shaft that lets you handle it like a putter. A lot of people sleep on the square strike style of chipper, but it’s very effective. ⛳️

    I have a very old chipper, unbranded, and I like it a lot. It has horizontal grooves and can even spin the ball a little. I use it 50 yards and in. But I struggle to get it any farther than that consistently.
    Would you recommend upgrading to the odyssey? Would it potentially spin more than an old unbranded one considering the odyssey face? Would the odyssey insert allow it to be hotter, maybe making it easier to go longer with it, potentially?
    Would a new Amazon chipper from say, Mazel, perform just as well for less money?
    Unfortunately there is no opportunity to try them. So I'm trying to have some info before I spend over $100
    Thanks!

    The grooves on the Ping ChipR will cause the ball to check up on a down hit, so you will need to take that into consideration on some long distances.

    Every mid to high handicap golfer should have one of these in their bags. I've had mine in my bag for abut 10 rounds and I definitely get up and down a lot more from around the green and I'm getting better with it every round. Going to be hard to get that club out of the bag. It's hard to chunk and just makes golf easier.

    I am trying a ChipR now. I have a great short game but my i525 irons don’t chip as well as back when I chipped with blades. “Would a chipper lower my scores more than a club that I ‘can hit’ 220 yards but don’t hit it that far every time?”

  • @MWWM200
    @MWWM200 Рік тому +1

    Bought the ping new from 2nd swing. It takes a little getting used to judging the distance because the ball comes out low and hot. Feels like it has top spin on it compared to standard wedges. The distance they are testing in the video is way too short. In real life the ball comes out so hot you wouldn't use it for that distance. This club shInes in 3 scenarios. 1) 5-15 yards short of the green with a lot of green to work with. 2) In the rough at least 5 yards away from the fringe. 3) bare dirt or other areas around the hole that aren't maintained well. This club creates so much forward roll that if I miss the green and I'm in the rough, I might still land my next shot in the rough to take some speed off.

    The best chipper on the market isn't even in this video. The Square Strike is pure money. So easy to control line and distance. The problem with it is, its an off-brand and its ugly as hell. Most golfers won't give it a chance because of that. But I'm telling you, it is the best chipper I've ever played, by far.

    If that " Super Stroke" grip is a putter grip as opposed to an iron grip then it is illegal! Chippers should/must have an iron grip!

    • @traviscrown9189
      @traviscrown9189 9 місяців тому

      False. Your statement could not be more false. The grip just has to be round. There are actually putter grips that are round.

      @@kieranpyne3271 iron grips on putters only? Then how are super strokes legal? When it comes to irons the grip kits has to be round. So if this chipper is considered something other than a putter all you have to do is put a round grip on it to make it legal. There are loads of round putter grips out there.

    • @kieranpyne3271
      @kieranpyne3271 9 місяців тому

      🎉I meant to say iron grips on chippers not putters so I have edited accordingly ! From my understanding the chipper must have no alignment aid thereon; must have the shaft connected to the heel of the club face; must not have two faces and must have an iron type grip in that the grip must be non contoured and round and any taper must be uniform.

    • @traviscrown9189
      @traviscrown9189 9 місяців тому

      @@kieranpyne3271 it does not have two faces. It is connected. Once again plenty of large round grips or round putter grips you can put on it and it’s legal. The grip has to be round that’s it. The chipper meets al other stated guidelines. You could do a solid black round putter grip from Edel. That’s legal. You could also
      Put that putter grip on your iron but that would not feel right. There all kinds of options.

      I have the Odyssey and grip it like an iron. If I grip it like a putter with my right index finger pointing down the grip the head can twist from square at impact affecting direction. I get the golf snobbery around chippers but if it works for you then go for it.
