The artwork style reminds me a whole lot of the end credits to Kung Fu Panda 1 and 2, both really awesomeness. and yet it reminds a whole lot of Sonic with the side scrolling. This looks really interesting.
The art is amazing. The gameplay looks good, although standard. Hopefully it will get more complicated. I did spot a number of good design choices, so it probably will.
I've been playing through it and some of the level design choices are interesting. Again, it's very akin to Donkey Kong Country where various levels have certain traits that you have to play into, while other levels rely on NPC character teamwork. HOWEVER, there are some levels that are very difficult to see in, and some of the pacing is a bit off which makes you stumble where jumps should be easy, and so on..
please make this a series please
