  • An overview and review of the new Tek Pak from Klim.
    I've been a big fan of Klim gear for many years so I was pretty excited about this new bag. It has some features that are really cool and simply do not exist on any other bag. However, there are also a couple things that are a deal breaker to me. Hopefully Klim can address them and they'll have another really great product.

    I appreciate you making this video. I cant believe the only pics of this bag online are of the front side. I couldn't even figure out what the straps looked like. Thank you.

    Very helpful information, thank you very much! I also assumed that a hydration system could be integrated. I was about to order the backpack, but I'm not going to. Unfortunately, the manufacturer's information is misleading.

      Klim, and many other manufacturers, are amazingly bad at providing detailed info about their products. They have huge marketing departments/budgets, I never understood why they can't have someone take some good pictures and shoot some 5 minute videos going over the details.
      Oh well, gives me something to do when the weather is too cold to ride😂

    Thank you for the review. I'm searching for backpacks that fit everything I use through out most days, while keeping the back of my motorcycle free of bags for my co-pilot to have easier access to jump or so in case of an accident. This bag seems almost good for me but seen a realistic review and the front design that looks like an underwear has me rolling. Would have to invest for certain modifications (not just cover that underwear) and with that price just seems like a nono.

      If you’re looking for a bigger bag, I like the Klim Krew Pak and the Kriega R20 is probably my favorite one recently - it’s a lot less featured than the Klim Packs, but it’s more comfortable and looks great.

    Thanks for the solid review. A well-engineered, but smaller option, is available from Target stores for $25. It has a very well-made and well designed bladder, and several small pockets. Sierra Designs, Flagstaff model, made in Cambodia. I need the water more than anything, and it has room for a sandwich, apple, wallet, phone and perhaps a tablet if that's your thing. I considered the Tek Pak, but will stick with the Flagstaff as it is not so bulky and does what I need.

      I'm sure it works great, but Flagstaff is a very different type of pack I think.

    Good review, I just ordered this bag, but for $150. My last motorcycle bag was stolen out of my car ironically… i am looking for something with space and organization. I have other camel backs so the hydration point isn’t as much of an issue.. I have different bags for different purposes. But I just wanted a larger well built every day bag to cram all my stuff into while on short rides. Did Klim ever get back to you about the hydration bladder misrepresentation?

      Glad you found it useful! I agree on different bags for different purposes :) I've got a few that I use for different things. Hope this one works out well for you!
      I haven't heard anything back from Klim.

    Is this bag waterproof? I live in West Coast of Norway with 300 rainy days a year and I wonder if this bag ensures enough waterproof.

    • @DmitriyAdv
      @DmitriyAdv  3 роки тому

      It's not waterproof. The material seems water resistant but the zippers are not waterproof. So it'll keep water splashes and a little drizzle out, but not a full on rainstorm.

      It's made in China, pretty much everything is :) Klim has very good quality control however, so that has not been an issue... and if it ever is, their warranty is superb, I've only had to use it once and got a new/replacement product no questions asked. I've heard of similar feedback from others.

      Agreed! I was surprised too, I own a half dozen various Klim backpacks and waist packs and they manage to stick water storage on all of them.

  • @goldenchild4835
    @goldenchild4835 4 роки тому

    I own one of these. The water bladder is easily fitted between the main backpack compartment and the open "rubberised" section behind - I've done it. It will take a three-litre bladder and hooks to the webbing at the top and feeds through the open top, then the feed can go over whichever should you prefer. The downside, a three-litre bladder fully filled equals three kilos plus whatever you have inside, say a two-kilo laptop plus other kit. That is a lot of weight to hang off your shoulders and ride a bike for any length of time. IMO the Mosko Moto Nomad Tank Bag is a better option. It doubles as a travel backpack and tank bag with a bladder. See ua-cam.com/video/HEaHPq79uyc/v-deo.html

      Golden Child So it’s absolutely compatible with Klim Hydrapak? Or any hydration/water bladder for that matter?

    • @goldenchild4835
      @goldenchild4835 3 роки тому

      @@galuhrichata6148 I don't have a Klim Hydrapak I simply hang a bladder between the main body of the backpack and teh rear pockets. There's a rubberised packing on the pack and at the top there's a textile strap to hook in the hydration back, at the bottom there's three straps that prevent the hydration bladder slipping out if it comes unhooked. Of course, if you're running either Klim's Badland Pro or Baja jackets they also have a place inside the jacket to hook up a bladder as well.

      I thought about it and I agree that you can make it work, but I didn't feel very happy about that setup. For the sort of riding I do I like my water inside the pack for a couple reasons -
      * Weight as close to my back as possible. It's common knowledge in backpacking circles that you want your heaviest weight between your shoulderblades. Having it further back puts more weight on your shoulders and makes it swing around a bit too much for my liking.
      * Keeping the bladder clean. I like to ride off pavement and things get dusty, muddy, or generally dirty. I know the water bladder is easy to clean, but I don't want to have to deal with getting grime in my water mid-ride. Probably not an issue for most people, but it is for me and my riding.

    you don't really ride a bike with a backpack - maybe for off road and commuting but not on a trip. On the long trips, I see all backpacks strapped to the back of the bike 😂 only a hydration system is OK, everything above 2 KG is nuts.

    • @DmitriyAdv
      @DmitriyAdv  3 роки тому +1

      It depends on your personal preference, the kind of trip you’re on, the kind of bike you’re on and so on. I almost always ride with a small backpack, even on longer trips. I like to have things like hydration, first aid, and valuables (which could include a laptop) physically attached to my body. That way I never have to worry about leaving a bike parked outside a gas station or restaurant.

    • @DmitriyAdv
      @DmitriyAdv  3 роки тому

      It’s pretty typical to be carrying 10lbs+ (4.5+kg) on your body when riding offroad. That’s just what the minimum tools, water, and survival gear weighs. You get used to it.

    Ya MilkRun Klim is made in china,🙄 look at their websites FAQ #9 ish. Not a fan of that myself. The excuse is its cheaper to make it elsewhere, but we're not passing the savings on to you the consumer, just our board members🤑 That being said, they do jump thru all the hoops to make sure that quality control standards are kept up.🧐 Anyone whos used their gear knows it rock solid stuff🔧- ask Tdubskid
    As far as water bladder, I find it hard to believe you cant make it happen, Id be interested to see what Klim had to say if you got a response.🤔 Also how well did you full face helmet fit in the slot there ? does the cable pull tied to lock or the straps hold it ok 🤔
    Golden Child is right about the Nomad is a answer if you looking for a good tank bag that can be used as a backpack (Meh on those straps tho-great on the tank),🤨
    Looks like Dimitry does a lot of Enduro as well and using a tank bag on single track - for me not the best answer😰Also if your get off your bike as a commuter shopping or going in locations back packs can be less trouble👍 (although the Nomad does pop off easy enough).
    Anyway long rant,🤣 just another opinion thanks for the vid and the comments😎

      Ash Myrmidons Minions - thanks for the detailed comment!
      Agreed, almost everything is made in China these days. As long as the quality control is kept up, it's not a huge deal. I own a lot of Klim gear, some of which is 10 years old and is still going strong. I think what makes companies like Klim and Mosko unique is that they continue to innovate and push the industry as a whole forward.
      Regarding the helmet, you just kind of have to jam it in there. It's a tight fit, held firmly and doesn't go anywhere.
      I tend to agree on the tank bag, it's a very bike specific thing for me. I've used tank bags on my old Vstrom, my old KTM 690, and my current Svartpilen 401. I use a smaller Wolfman Enduro bad on those. All of those bikes have room to put a tank bag on without affecting me being able to move on the bike. I can't use a tank bag on any enduro bike, my current DR650, my old Africa Twin or old WR250R - they would get in the way too much. I actually just got a Giant Loop handlebar pouch for the DR650, and while it's pretty tiny it does 90% of what a tank bad did for me - which is hold a camera, a snack, and something to clean goggles/visor with.

      @@DmitriyAdv Oh I think Klim gear is THE longest lasting equip available alright.💪 Yup commercial completion is a good thing, your absolutely right. 🤑Ya Wolfman makes nice stuff to, sort wish they still make the cloth version as a Legacy Item, the vinyl is great for waterproof saddle bags🌊 and stuff, but still like a cloth tank bag.🤗
      Thanks for the info on the helmet, Im having trouble finding a back pack that a modular helmet can fit in right 👍😃

      Nope doesn't matter where it comes from, its a matter of quality control. 💲vs🔨If the brand Klim, Alpinstars etc) doesn't insure that their manufactures (china, japan, detroit)do not maintain the quality of the standard set its a prob.📐 🙄The reason china gets picked on is they make things at the lowest cost possible, 🤑which usually means lower quality materials, manufacturing standards etc. 💩Unless the brand company sets up and constantly inspects the quality of the goods manufactured, 🧐then the product produce doesn't work as well or last as long. 😫
      Now that we've covered Product Production 101, Yaaaa Americans 🤬complain when something sucks 🙄so we want better and demand better from our manufacturers which forces them to make a better quality product🔧- usually made in America due to the US Standard and Safety codes 📐- things like china does not have or care about.👎 Now as YOU know, Mercedes is manufacture to a high quality standard and has a reputation for lasting forever- 💎that's because you guys love engineering master pieces (but enough about why Racing Point coping Mercedes Formula 1😲 ) and yet look at the Chinese BAIC BJ80 copy of the Mercedes G class SUV🧐 . SO now we go down the road of unlicensed and poor quality copies 💩that again show manufacturing intent that is NOT geared toward the consumer except as victims of the manufacturer.🤑 So as long as we keep buying junk they will keep making it 🙄🪓🔨💲 unless we call them on it and demand better 🧐🔧💪(but enough about our current prez 🙄 - sorry world 🤣). So as you can tell Ive had too much Monster drink and wanted to be clear. Buy good product and support quality manufactures and spread the word on stuff that is poorly made to help out your fellow rider. NO offense to anyone and thanks Zero29807 for pointing that out and calling me out on it 🤣🤣🤣

      There is no mention of country of origin in the video. Nobody was bashing China, simply pointing out that when manufacturing moves to cheaper facilities (regardless of country), quality can suffer. It has happened over and over again with all sorts of motorcycle gear.
