I hope GMA does an interview with Ilia and his parents who are his coaches. It's so amazing how they were able to accomplish this WR super inspired and breathtaking FS as a family. Totally agree! Ilia did a masterclass in technique and made it look effortless!! Sad that some fans are nitpicking about the edges, spins and speed. He's only 19yo so he'll just got better in everything in time because he's very driven on improving every aspect of his skating. He shoots for the stars. Keep up the good fight Ilia and God bless! Praying you're able to stay healthy, strong and humble. 😃🙏❤❤❤

Illia Malinin must be a contender for ESPN's sports performance and athlete of the year. His performance has never been done in the history of the sport. Illia Malinin, in 4 minutes, revolutionized skating. ESPN is filled with a bunch of straight men who will look right past the sequins and give awards to athletes in football, basketball, and baseball. For ESPN to deny Illia Malinin recognition will be an affront to the sport of ice skating and demean the athletic genius it took to pull off this performance.

I hope USFS takes care of Ilia and markets him better because they clearly dropped the ball in the past when they marketed Nathan Chen to the public. They have another chance to grow figure skating in the US through Ilia. If figure skating gains more popularity, then Ilia and all the other American skaters would have so many opportunities with sponsorships/brand deals - and we all know figure skating is a crazy expensive sport, so these sponsorships and deals would help them tremendously. I want to see them in commercials, cereal boxes, magazines, Netflix specials.. etc.

@@bts_txt27jenn63 Listen to her introduction, doofus. I specifically mentioned her "introduction" in my first sentence where she states earning the "highest score in history DURING his freeskate". That's NOT the same as her phrasing at the end where she says at 1:36 "the score, the highest ever FOR a freeskate". There's a big difference there. A skater can certainly post the highest score ever for a competition "during" his freeskate, but that's different than scoring the highest ever for the freeskate alone. Her poor phrasing easily makes it appear Ilia earned the highest score ever during a historic freeskate, but that's NOT the case. He earned the highest FREESKATE score ever. That's how it should have been specified. Clearly, you're not a reporter or writer.

He is a born and raised first-generation American. His ascent has been more of a zig-zag than smooth. He has paid his dues. He does have the advantage of being raised with the unusual work ethic and mentality training more prevalent in foreign cultures. Nonetheless, there are hard working and lazy people in every culture.

Impressive performance he might live in the US and be an American Citizenship but as soon as I read his last name I knew he has the Slavic blood in his veins , no pure American 😊

Here in America we don't distinguish between the pure and impure. Everyone with citizenship is a full American.

This is hilarious. Imagine being so stupid you think you can tell or even give af about how “good” of a person someone is in a competitive sport. You sound like someone who spends way too much time on Twitter and don’t know how the real world works. Like those K-Poopies who wish death on people and call them racist because they don’t care for their untalented (fem)boy groups.

@@aihngelleyou mean how he made a stupid joke about PCS? Typical teenager comment that honestly is pretty tame compared to the norm. What he said was stupid but not egregiously bad. He deserved a slap on the wrist for that. Twitter types just don’t like him because he’s a mildly cocky white kid and they’re getting PTSD from sitting by themselves at lunch in high school.
