I'm very 50/50 on him cos there's some things I've read that excite me but at the same time appointing a coach that's just been relegated doesn't fill u with a lot of confidence, i did do more research and to be fair Lorient lost a lot of there key players last season and to be fair almost stopped up last season, they won there last game 5 nil against Clermont Foot but were Relegated on goal difference, i do think it's a gamble especially if there's a language barrier problem, the 2 main positives that I'm taking from this potential appointment is apparently he's a hard man so he won't take any crap and should give players a kick up the arse when need be and he might get the best out of the French speaking players, for example he knows Aouchiche cos we signed him from Lorient so he might get the best out of him, overall it's a gamble, there's no way in hell he was on a 5 man shortlist and if he can't speak English then that's a worry but some factors about the man are interesting and could work out so I'll give the man a chance and hope he does well, also we can all agree that the man needs to be backed, we can't have another window like last season, we need more ready made players especially if we want to be pushing for promotion or at the very least top 6

He took over Lorient after they had finished 16th .He took them to 10th in the 2022/23 season and then last season they were relegated .Last season they won only 7 games and scored just over one goal per game .They were relegated on goal difference having won only one of their last five games .Had he been appointed for South Shields it would have been reasonable but for Sunderland it's quite frankly another Beale moment .Totally out of his depth.I realise that supporters will look for crumbs of comfort in Lorient disastrous season last year but the facts remain he isn't qualified to be a Championship manager .
