Whether it happens at 15, 20, 25 or 30 y.o. Duck for real seemed like a humble ass guy who could’ve gotten along w/ any & everyone if the culture wasn’t sick right now & the politics was left out.
U know for all the complaining the ppl in the hood vlogs do (which I believe they have every right to do so) especially these Chicago dudes who’ve been thrust into the spotlight w/ every word they say & post they send put under a microscope cuz the world is infatuated with all the snake shit these young men have to wake up & try to survive everyday. However, one of the real positives I can say is that not every look has been bad. In many ways it’s brought a light like never before to millions of ppl that ain’t ever even seen a hood let alone know what it’s like trying to navigate it, especially many in the upper white community. Having such constant access through social media I believe has many times shown the world that these young boys aren’t all the scary demons often times the media wants to portray them as. There’s been so many videos showing even some of the ones known for doing shit in which u really get to see a softer side of them eventually. Whether they be just kickin it w/ the whole fam or their kids. Shit, even King Von had many vids where it was inherently clear that had far more layers to him than his reputation proceeded. It lets u realize that had he, along with all these boys been able to be blessed with a more stable upbringing & environment then they most likely woulda become all kinds of successful in other real avenues and that’s why it’s so important for them to find a way and break that cycle.
At the end of the day I just wish someone coulda really seen the value in showing more of that side of things and maybe somehow it coulda started a different wave to which some of these boys wouldn’t have had to lose it all right at the very moment they had finally gotten a taste of their ability to escape. I admit I’m just as guilty keeping up and watching a lot of these boys shit and fu*ken with they music but the whole time these were always the types of hopes I had and continue to have for all these folks. I had a hard life growing up and was all kinds of poor, not knowing my daddy very much and a had a evil mother . I just thank god I had the wherewithal to learn from my early mistakes and realize I ain’t wanna be the statistic that the odds of my upbringing presented. I see alot of these boys with that same realization and desire and we should all praise them for what they’ve been able to overcome. For what it’s worth I find myself adding these boys into my prayers 👏.
