Section 165 of the Penal Code of Singapore is vague and should be better defined. The Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA) being withdrawn in this case for the lack of evidential basis for prosecution is definitely confusing for the layman to understand when construed against section 165 of the Penal Code which does NOT constitute a corruption intent. However, implicating all parties involved to prove a corruption intent in court will be onerous as one cannot predict, foresee nor claim in the future if the successive acts of giving such valuable 'gifts' by the external person(s) to the public official/servant concerned eventually leads to a planned, favoured business contract dealing with the government on hindsight. Only when that happens and it gets discovered, then an act of corruption intent be pinpointed. Therefore, I believe the prosecution decided not to pursue the case under the PCA which carries a far higher maximum imprisonment term of up to 7 years. Section 165 of the Penal Code basically covers the acceptance of any form of valuable 'gifts' by a public official/servant from any persons who potentially could be involved in a business transaction with the government. What if the offending act committed was the other way around instead, whereby a public official/servant offers any form of valuable 'gifts' accepted by an external person whose private organisation/company could potentially be involved in a business transaction with the government? Does that constitute an offence as well?

Investigate the prosecutor. They clearly didn't do their job.
I WILL BE BACK!!!See all of you in Next F1 event 🎉
This only prove that even you are drawing a ridiculously high salary do not make you immune to any form of temptation.
That man spend her at least 13 years of career and did his best on service of country and this is what they gave him. Made him scapegoat, send him jail on ridiculous charges, just imagine the humiliation he is getting like a criminal. Racism is horrible thing.
*Hope he appeals on that 12month jail cos he has already pleaded guilty and returned the value of items he took*
And on this day, justice was seen to be served. None shall escape the adequately long arms of the law and if you are inclined to belief to have done so, then count your blessings before they hatch.
don't worry he will be release less than 12 months 😏
After that work for goh liao
If we follow Malaysia’s currency, S. Iswaran would’ve followed Mr. Ong and done just 4 months instead of 12. And if he’d taken notes from Mr. Jho, he’d be chilling in China for just 2 months! ❤
You ppl commenting here have NOT seen the final show.
Still got appeal.
Increase sentence or reduced?😆😆
The world remember the late Lee Kuan Yew passed away as the “poorest PM in the modern world”❤🙏🏽🤲🏾🕯️

The court is blind. Normal person could be jailed for 7 years and above. Our government is not fair and biased

Yeah Fair Judgement
Yet one sits inside longer for defending oneself by punching the other party. Down with the PAP
Ok
What a pity good future n good salary n good life but ruined by those who bribe n ruin his life due tempatation $$$
Light sentence 😂
After 1/3 remission and early released to home detention, Iswaran would likely spent 4 months at most at Changi resort and the rest at this own mansion. Tio boh?
Locals are again....not told the truth!😆😆😆😆🤣🤣🤣
Power lah. First, accept gifts and in return, S Iswaran will makan minum for free within the next 12 months. I believe the Merdeka generation will still vote for him and use the taxpayer's money for his makan minum inside. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
