Great video, thank you for this. Was a huge help.
Just joined and appreciate the passion and knowledge awesome set ups
hey i just found this channel and i've really been enjoying it. i have a question. what motor do you prefer between both the castle 1260s (1717 & 1721) your the only channel ive seen thats used both. i would be using it on my xmaxx tho not xrt. thanks again and keep up the great content
Hi, thanks a lot for watching first of all.
As far as which esc/motor I prefer or would suggest really comes down to driving style. Do you like stunt driving, jumping, backflips that sort of thing. If so, you will eventually figure out that glued wheels don't last long for that kind of driving and will need to go with beadlocks that are much heavier and will be hard on stock and similar size systems. Then, the XLX2/1721 series is the way to go. IMO
Hope this helps. Thanks again.
Cheers
So is the 1600kv motor better than the 1200kv? Should I put the 1600kv motor from my 6s into my 8s? I’m running 19/50 in my 6s but with a max6 so I run it on 8s, will the 1200kv motor on similar gearing not perform as well? If I go 20/50 or 20/46 on the 1200kv would that not be better?
Ok, so personally, I like the 1600kv motor because it turns more RPM on either 8S or 6S than the 1275kv motor with 20/50 gears. Now, I also run good fans, Protek or equal, and keep an eye on my temps, especially if the day is hot.
20/50 gears I wouldn't recommend in the current 2024 X-Maxx as they have changed the internal gearing. I'm currently testing and good gear combo for the newest version X-Maxx. I also have an X-Maxx with a Castle MMX8S 1650kv combo in it, and it works awesome.
Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
Cheers.

On the bottoms of the bulkheads where it says 6 or 8, will it say 8 on the front bulkhead as well as the rear or just the rear?
Front bulkheads are all the same so no it have an 8S on it.
Thanks for watching.

Hi, and thx for all those valuble infos. I would like to know, if its possible to run the 6s motor with 8s. And if so, how long it would last? Thx
Hello, and thanks for watching. I run the 1600kv VXL 6S motor in 3 of my X-Maxxs all on 8S.. As far as how long it will last, keep the maintenance up, change motor bearings and a motor can last a long time. Try not to overheat them. I run 20/50 for gears. My climate is on the cooler side, but I still keep a temp gun with me at all times. Very fun.
Cheers.
@@markkumollari43 hello, its me again. Sry for bothering you, but you have lots of experience with the xmaxx and google wasnt helpful at all.
Just bought a used 8s motor und esc. But both seem to be damaged. The motor is running very ruogh and the esc is strangely cricling after shut off. It just stop, when i unplug one battery.
I never heard an esc cricling after shut off before. Is that thing coocked, as im suspecting, or just a xmaxx esc thing?
Thx
Hello again, and it's not a bother at all.
Probably need to change the bearings in the motor, I have a video on that, and I am not sure I understand the ESC problem. Typically, they either flash all red lights, don't turn on, or go up in smoke. After updating the power button no longer works to turn it off. Traxxas did this because people were leaving batteries plugged in and killing them, and they would have to warranty them.
Hope this helps. If not, don't hesitate to ask.
Cheers buddy.
It appears I have an 8s. However, when I sit it on the ground, hold it up by the back tires and hold the back tires, it won't move forward. Is that supposed to happen? Someone said if it doesn't move forward, it's a 6s. But it's stamped 8 near the spur and pinion area, also has the 8s esc and motor as well as the same spur and pinion shown in the video for your 8s model. So what would cause it to not move forward when I try that trick?
Hello. Did you buy it new? If not, someone may have replaced center diff with a spool. Need to tear it down and check everything out.
Thanks for watching.
Cheers
@@markkumollari43 bought used. Took it apart and it's not a spool. Checked the diff out and everything is ok in there. Still won't move forward if you pick the back wheels up and push it
I'm not to sure, without actually looking at it. Look me up on Facebook and message me a video I can help diagnose it better for you. 👍
Are 6s tires guaranteed to shred when running 8s or is there no difference?
That I'm not too sure of, it would depend on your driving style, really.
6S wheels are discounted now, and if you did find some, they are probably badly weathered anyway.
Thanks for watching.
Cheers.👍🇨🇦🤠
just wanna say thank you...... i no this is old but helped me identify the 8s xmaxx i just bought of ebay
