From where I was in the $90 dollar seats, we were ALL dancing to most of the songs. Grey hairs and teen fans. No generation gaps in fans. We just loved the music. :)
Finally someone on here with some common sense. I saw "Styx" (Tommy and James) on That Metal Show last night and I was SO disappointed that they didn't ask them anything about reuniting with the talent of the group. One thing that's kind of funny is that if you go to Dennis's website he hired 2 backing musicians that look exactly like those two. I agree, the spinning keyboard is a gimmick that Dennis DeYoung would not need.
Always loved this song and when my daughter was having a little girl she asked me what her name should be. Simple answer was..what did your mother not let me name you
Yes and no, when he first opened for Styx in 1999, he played his song A Criminal Mind, as the guys in Styx had always been they decided to "re-record it" and make it Styx adding background vocals and such. There is a REALLY good performance of it, I think it's here on YT, at a concert they did in 2006 with this kid orchestra in Cleveland.
Get over it people. Dennis DeYoung is not coming back to this band. The reason -- Gowan works in this band. As much as many of you hate that fact, it's still a fact.
Listen to Dennis' new guitarist August Zadra, he does Tommy's Styx songs and he actually gives them justice unlike gag mouth Gowan on Dennis' work. Now to be fair, I do like some of the songs Gowan has brought to the band, A Criminal Mind is amazing, I just don't like him doing DeYoung's work. His cover of I am the Walrus was good as are Fields of the Brave and More Love for the Money from the Carrot album (Cyclorama)
Ohio. More or less there are two versions of A Criminal Mind, Gowan's and Styx. Basically if Gowan were to leave and DeYoung were brought back, he would be doing all the songs the Gowan songs, Walrus and Criminal Mind.
Not to mention the stupid spinning keyboard. You notice how Dennis doesn't need a gimmick like that during his MUCH better performance. They may carry the name, but the spirit of the classic Styx is with Dennis and always will be....this is nothing more than a tribute band that happens to have the name and a few members that have anything to do with the heyday of Styx. Styx will ALWAYS be the classic lineup to me. This is below sub-par.

Surprisingly still hitting their notes! Awesome.

If you have never seen Styx treat yourself to a great night and go see them.
1:16 Todd is singing along too?! How awesome!
I like Gowan solo too. Midnight Desires I really liked but not sure if he plays it. So he plays some solo stuff in the shows?

No Dennis no Styx.
